After many many days of trying, we realized it was impossible to conform to everyone's schedules. Unfortunately, we were unable to get Matt to the area due to his football and soccer practice.
Things were looking up even after we failed to work into Matt's schedule. My parents had ok'd Geoff's staying at my house for a few nights. One Sunday night before our expected runion, the news broke that Crissy had been grounded and wasn't allowed to make it. A minor set back, but we kept at it. Another complication in that Lindsey was denied permission to go. The reunion was obviously not going to be complete, lacking 3 charter members, but we were still determined.
After FINALLY working out a driving schedule on Sunday night that suited everyone, the plan was complete.
Monday: Geoff's father was so gracious in making a 5 hour trip from Bethany, WV to bring him here, then making the trip back. That night, Crissy called and I told her of our plans for the morning. We would get to see her afterall, even if it was for a short while. Geoff and I walked to the bridge up the road and talked of life and good times. Exchanging quotes, stories, and aggrivations, I realized why I love that man.
Tuesday: After returning home around 1 a.m. and hitting the sack finally at 2, Geoff and I woke around 8a.m. Curt picked us up around 8:30 and we headed to Beckley to pick up Addie and her friend (former horseshoe camper) Tiffany. Crissy met us there as well before Volleyball practice. It was nice to see her, even if she couldn't spend the day with us.
A few more unexpected complications overcame, John and Curt picked Addie, Tiffany, Geoff and I up and we piled in to John's Neon. 6 of us made for a fun ride. To the State Fair. . .
The fellowship was what kept our trip to the State Fair fun. The fair is known to steal money quickly, with not much to show. We hung around, rode 2 of the "exciting" rides, and spent a lot of time checking out the latest livestock. Pigs, Rabbits, Cows, and Sheep made for great gray comments, needless to say. We still had it!
After having our fill of the fair, we headed back to my house. Yet more bad news. Our camping trip that Geoff, John and I had planned on attending had been dropped. We were upset, but not to worry. We decided we could camp on our own. After picking up his stuff, John came back and we headed to camp. A night of laughter, memories, and more laughter will go down as one of the funnest nights of our lives. After singing our lungs out till 5 in the morning, we finally fell asleep.
Wednesday: Geoff and I awake at noon and go check on John. He golfed the game of his life that day on a mere 2 hours of sleep. What a guy! A "BIG CHESSY" with some friends made for a nice lunch. One last walk to the bridge on Wednesday to review the "honorary weekend," plan the next, laugh and even complain a little. To bed at 1 a.m.
Thursday: An early awaken saw Geoff to the bus station for the long dreaded goodbye. The Rolling Rock truck we saw on the way could only be a sign, an omen if you will. Reminding us of our friendship, the good time life is supposed to be, and that the Grays are still alive.
