Some thoughts on John Lennon

Send in your thoughts of John. Of what he means to you,how much you miss him or whatever!

John Lennon means a lot to me. He has been the last four years of my life. I am deeply saddened that I was never alive to see him in concert, to catch him on tv or even to meet him outside the Dakota. I think his murder and murderer were thoughtless acts of attention. John is greatly missed by me, as by millions of other people. I have gotten the chance to become a fan and listen to the music and relive the times, as much as possible. Which, I consider myself to be 'one of the lucky ones'. Some people my age look at John Lennon and the other Beatles as 'old people' or 'old people's music'. At least I have discovered John Lennon, and his great wit.Rest In Peace John We love and miss you.

John Lennon is timeless and ageless. I suppose, in some ways, it's a good thing that he did not live to see the degeneration of a form of music he helped to create. Of course, were he still alive, I'm not too sure the degeneration would have even occurred. And if it had, he would have done everything in his power to stop it. No one can fill the empty space left by his death, as has been so beautifully pointed out by Elton John in his tribute "Empty Garden".

Have you ever noticed how some people see only the bad things in the man called John Lennon? "Oh," they say, "He was wicked and drank and smoked marijuana and took LSD and beat his wife (a fact which I strongly disbelieve) and he wasn't a nice person..." and on and on and on. But you know what? He realized all that and HE SAID HE WAS SORRY! And in the most public fashion. I believe all wrongs were righted--think of all the people who never ever go out of their way to apologize, and think back to the the hero of a generation and more.

Who is the better person in the end?

I'm only 14, but I can see the truth so much better than some other people. As one of my friends has pointed out, how much more dangerous than rock and roll are the government and organized religion? Which has caused more wars and conflict and hate? John knew the answer, and we should too. Wake up, world!

This has grown into my essay on the state of the world, I can see. Funny how talking about John can get you started.

John Lennon was a beautiful person, nuff said. He was a complete lunatic to some people. No. He wasn't a lunatic, he was just very expressive and very loving. I may be 12 years old, but I know enough to respect this man, whom we so dearly call John Lennon. I admire him for his talent, intelligence, God! He was intellegent!, and his love. His words haunt me and, yet, they soothe me. I believe that his spirit is still among us, wandering aimlessly through time and space. Mending everyone's broken nerves, whispering a song of love and peace, holding those that are lonely, and telling them that everything is going to be okay in the end. A ghost...if you will. If he were to be reincarnated, he'd be a cat. He loved cats. Plus, he could keep a watchful eye over those that are praying for a miracle. His eyes are always smiling. Through his glasses, even though he isn't here, they tell us what he's thinking or feeling. Those of us who think that John Lennon is a horrid, nasty, naughty man are intitled to our opinion. And, those of us that are inspired by him and love him for everything he was, can go and correct the other percent of the population that hate his guts! He is missed. He is loved. Power to him and thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Emma K. M.
