Recommended Reading

Seems that every Wiccan site out there has its recommended reading list. I read a lot of books, so I thought that I would make one, too. I actually recommend every book on this page, personally, because I found them to be helpful to me. But like all things in the Craft, it's up to you in the end to find something suitable for you.

Book of Shadows
Author: Phyllis Curott
This book doesn't teach you how to be a Witch, nor does it give any lengthly background information. This book is an autobiography that tells of the author's journey into Witchcraft, its bonuses and its draw backs. It was the first book on Wicca that I read, and I thought it was interesting.

Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft
Author: Raymond Buckland
I had heard a lot of good things about Raymond Buckland's books, so I naturally picked this one up for a peek. I read it, I used it, and I liked it! It was very helpful in describing many aspects of the Craft and how to test yourself to see if you're learning anything. After each chapter, there are questions you should answer before moving on in the book. Unlike many books, Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft describes Wiccan from a non-denominational point of vue. I think it's a great read.

Grimoire for the Green Witch
Author: Ann Moura
This book is very interesting and full of various kinda of information. There's recipes for creating your own oils, baths, and teas. I found that to be very cool. It's very easy to read and well-organized. There's also all sorts of correspondences, too.

(The) Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need
Author: Joanna Martine Woolfolk
Of course there's the oh-so-common information about Sun Signs, but there's also information about Moon Signs, Ascendents, and all the other planets. It also gives information on the legend behind each sign. Not to mention the fact that it teaches you how to cast your own horoscope.

Ritual: A Guide to Life, Love & Inspiration
Author: Emma Restall Orr
This book was a good read, too, I found. It spoke about Druidry and gave a tonne of information on ritual and meditations. Definitely worth picking up and taking a read.

Ruling Planets
Author: Christopher Renstrom
This astrology book gives you all kinds of information. There's tables, compatibility charts, and tonnes of information on each possible placement of the planets. Very thorough.

(The) Sacred Magic of Ancient Egypt
Author: Rosemary Clark
I just love reading about ancient Egypt. It has fairly extensive information about the ancient Egyptian religion along with symbols and the social hierarchy. Not to mention information on various rituals and rites.

Teen Witch
Author: Silver RavenWolf
This was the first book on Wicca that I actually bought. Since I was a teen, I thought it would be helpful. It offers a 'letter to parents', which addresses the fact that Wicca isn't devil-worship and that it's a recognized religion. It is mainly directed at teens who need a book to read that gives them the basics, as well as a way to break the news to their parents without getting kicked out of the house.

Wicca: The Old Religion in the New Millenium
Author: Vivianne Crowley
This particular book contains a whole lot of great information about, what I would consider, the past and psychology of Witchcraft. It penetrates into you and really can make a difference in how you see the Craft. It discusses Wicca and the feminine, along with Wicca and the masculine. It speaks about initiations, invocations, and the roots of Wicca. I found it a very interesting read.

You are now at the bottom of this page. Don't you feel special? :)
