The majority of the artwork presented here is brought
to you by the courtesy of my very good friend, Werner Preugschat. These old
prints were intended to be used in my book, MASTIFF, ARISTOCRATIC GUARDIAN
however, there just wasn't enough room, or they would not print well enough to justify including them.
BULL BAITING
UNNAMED
GLADIATOR
This drawing has a real history. It was published in
'Rundschau fur Jagd und Hundesport', Nr. 10, October 30, 1934. It is titled
"Gladiator" (circa 1829). The engraving was owned by Friedrich
Scheirmann (1886-1958) who was co-founder of the German "allgemeiner
Deutscher Bordeauxdoggen Klub." The engraving was destroyed during
the bombing of Germany. This was supplied by Herr Scheirmann's widow through
the kindness of Werner Preugschat.
