*Gilbert Stephenson Jr (the son of Gilbert Stephenson Sr.and Hannah Poteet Stephenson) Lineage:*
Thanks to Zandra Horn a researcher for Wayne County Wva.I have recently recieved information on Henry Stephenson's mother.(Elizabeth Stephenson).
Elizabeth was never married,born 1834.the daughter of Gilbert Stephenson born 1807.and Docia Peyton born 1808.Gilbert and Docia had the following children.
1)Burwell Stephenson born 1832
2)**Elizabeth Stephenson born 1834.had the following children.
**Note*Have found records of Elizabeth Stephenson being listed as blind...but can not prove if it is the daughter of Gilbert Jr and Docia ..or the daughter of Gilbert Sr.and Hannah ********
1a)Harriet born 1854.
2a)Cornelia born 1860.(twin to Henry) .
3a)Henry born 1860.***

**Henry Stephenson**
Henry married Clarissa Goodman in 1881 in Wayne County Wva,she was the daughter of Pleasant and Margarett (Muncy)Goodman,also of Wayne County,Wva.

Henry and Clarissa had the following children.

4.Burgess Stephenson.
**Somewhere along the line,the spelling of the name changed.from Stephenson to Stevenson.and then to Stevens.**
**I don't have much information on Gilbert: Floyd: or Carrie Stephenson.
Clarissa Stephenson later married ** Thomas Jewell ** after Henry Stephenson was killed in what was said to be a dynamite accident in Kentucky.she and Thomas had one child a son named Thomas Jewell.

Here is the family lineage of Burgess Stephenson/Stevenson.
Burgess spelled his last name(Stevenson) he married Anne Bowen also of Wayne County,she was the daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth (Rowe) Bowen.she was born Cecilia Anne Bowen.
Burgess and Anne Stevenson began thier marriage together on Wilson's Creek (Wayne County)they later moved to Hensley Branch and then to Whites Creek where they spent the rest of thier lives until their deaths.
Burgess was said to be a hardworking farmer who raised crops,and worked his land to provide for his family. He was noted as a humble man,who always was willing to lend a helping hand to his fellow neighbors and family.
Anne Stevenson was known to be a stern woman who did not tolerate "foolishness" she felt there was enough work to keep everyone busy and no time for non-sense. She canned and preserved crops that they grew for the family's food supply:made her quilts from old scrap cloth that came from perhaps on old shirt or pair of pants that maybe someone outgrew.
Burgess and Anne Stevenson lost 4 children during infancy or thier early childhood.
