Charleston Catholic High School began in 1923. The student body numbered 10 at the time was named Sacred Heart High. Over the years the school has had several " facelifts " to accommodate a changing enrollment. However, the numbers have purposely been kept low to maintain a feeling of family and a low teacher-pupil ratio. No better example of this can be exemplified than in the fact that this year's graduating class which numbered 50, 100% were accepted into colleges and universities and received scholarships totaling $1.3 million.

C.C.H.S. is located on the corner of Quarrier and Broad Streets in the heart of Charleston, WV. It is presently under the able leadership of Fr. Edward Sadie, a diocesan priest of the Wheeling-Charleston Diocese and pastor of Sacred Heart parish. In '57, the school was operated by the Franciscan Capuchins and the sisters of the mother-house of Stella Niagara. Who could ever forget Fr.'s Boniface, Aurelius, or Hugh or Sr.'s Harriet, Aloysius, Lois, Ursula, Marlene, Serafia, or Marilyn? But undoubtedly, the most memorable of all the CCHS faculty was our beloved Coach " Mickey " McDade. In today's day of specialization, he did it all back then; coaching football, basketball, and baseball, as well as being phys-ed and 9th grade Civics instructor.

It would take a book to list all the happy memories and events we enjoyed during our years at CCHS. Some of these include: the many dances including the Junior and Senior Proms, the basketball tournaments in Huntington, working on our yearbook, the Shamrock, the football games, and above all the friendship we felt for one another. This friendship is the reason for having this web-site. In order to keep up with one another and to inform each other of upcoming events, a central spot is now available to those who have computers or know someone who has one which they can access.

New!

Congratulations to the CCHS Class of 2005!
