" One Last Chance... "

One last chance... that is what Goldberg has been given. After three straight losses, many have said that Goldberg is looking to retire. However, last Thursday on Impact, a huge announcement was made when Mick Foley announced that there would be a Battle Royal for the #1 Contendership to the World Heavyweight title. The participants? Eight of the best superstars to ever step foot in the WIW... Lizzy Borden... Stone Cold Steve Austin.... ‘HBK’ Shawn Michaels... Eugene... The Rock... Sting... Shelton Benjamin... Goldberg. Anyone could win... so will Goldberg be able to beat the other seven superstars, giving him what he wants most... a World Heavyweight title shot? Or will a Battle Royal loss be the deciding factor in Goldberg’s retirement? Can Da Man regain his rightful rematch for the title that he never received? The only thing that is certain is that this Thursday on Impact... history will be made... history will repeat itself...

Scene 1
" No Competition "

The scene opens up at a house show in Memphis, Tennessee. The house show is about half-way over as the fans watch two local wrestlers battling it out. The crowd is clearly bored, having started several BORING chants. One of the young wrestlers hits a huge DDT and covers the other. The referee slides to the mat and begins to count... 1...2... Suddenly, before the referee can count to three, Goldberg’s music blasts over the PA system. The crowd immediately reacts, jumping to their feet. Goldberg walks out, obviously not happy. The famous GOLDBERG chant is started as if it were a natural thing. Goldberg stares into the ring, nothing breaking his concentration. A couple fans reach their hands out, trying to touch Da Man. However, Goldberg simply stares at the two wrestlers in the ring. Goldberg takes his time as he walks to the ring and then climbs the steel steps. Goldberg stops on the ring apron for a moment before climbing through the ropes. One of the young wrestlers runs at Goldberg as Goldberg delivers a painful clothesline. Goldberg then picks him up and throws him over the top rope to the mat. The other wrestler delivers a right forearm from behind. But the blow does not affect Da Man. Goldberg slowly turns around as he grabs the wrestler by the throat. Da Man lifts the wrestler high above his head and benches him up and down as if he were lifting weights. Goldberg then simply drops the wrestler as he lands hard. Goldberg goes over to the corner and crouches down, getting ready for a spear. After about one minute, the wrestler begins to get up and as he turns around he is met with a devastating spear from Da Man. The wrestler looks like he has been broken in two.

Goldberg looks down at the now lifeless wrestler. He then picks him up and throws him over the ropes, landing on the other wrestler. The fans cheer for Goldberg, having ended the boredom of the no-name wrestler vs the other no-name wrestler. Goldberg walks over to Lilian Garcia and grabs the microphone out of her hand. He then walks to the middle of the ring and raises the microphone to his mouth.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I have been given an opportunity... an opportunity to prove myself... an opportunity to become the best... an opportunity to regain the World Heavyweight Championship.”

The crowd cheers.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “You know, there has not been one day that has gone by that I haven’t thought about July 25... there has not been one day that I haven’t thought about Vengeance... there has not been one day that I haven’t thought about losing the World Heavyweight Championship title. That was the last time I have ever had anything to do with the World Heavyweight title. Six months... it has taken six months for me to get a chance to compete for the World title. As you can see, I have had to wait six months too long. I am not going to wait another six months for another chance... I’m going to capitalize on this one. During those six months, I beat great wrestlers like Batista... I won the Intercontinental Championship twice... and I was inducted into the WIW Hall of Fame. But those the things I have accomplished in the last six months are nothing compared to winning the World Heavyweight title. Being the second inductee into the Hall of Fame was a great thing... but that just shows that I once was the best... and that’s not good enough. Winning the World Heavyweight title now proves without a shadow of a doubt that I am the current best. The last six months of thinking constantly about the World Heavyweight title will not be for nothing... ‘cause this Sunday, I will finally regain the title.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “But... I must go through seven different superstars, all with many different abilities. I have to fight Lizzy Borden... Sting... Stone Cold Steve Austin... Eugene... Shelton Benjamin... The Rock... and the Heart Break Kid, Shawn Michaels. But I know that I have what it takes to defeat all seven of them.”

A picture of Lizzy Borden appears on the titantron.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “First up is Lizzy Borden... a former Women’s Champion... but most importantly, a former World Heavyweight Champion. Lizzy, you have my respect. Anyone who has been able to capture the World Championship has my respect. But Lizzy, you really have impressed me. Not only did you win the title, but you are the one and only woman to ever do so. I know that you will be tough come Thursday... but I’m ready. We may have once been in the Supremacy together, but that was then... and this is now. Now, the times have changed. And now, we have been pitted against each other for the first time. Lizzy, I will not underestimate you... and you better do the same. ‘Cause if you think for one minute that I will take it easy on you, well, you’re wrong... dead wrong. In my mind, you are just another opponent... and you will be just another defeat at the hands of Da Man!”

The picture of Lizzy disappears and is replaced with a picture of The Rock. Several cheers are heard for the People’s Champion.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “My next opponent is The Rock. Rock, you, unlike Lizzy, have no idea what it’s like to be the World Heavyweight Champion here in the WIW. You may have many years of experience, but you have no idea what it is like to accomplish as much as I have. In my eyes, you are still a rookie. To tell you the truth, I’m not even sure how you got into this match considering your record is 1-4... but all I know is that you did get in. That’s fine... ‘cause it’s about time for the Brahma Bull to know what it’s like to be NEXT!”

The Rock’s picture is then overtaken by the face of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Goldberg smirks as he looks up at the Texas Rattlesnake.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “And there he is... the man who first took my World Heavyweight title away from me... the man who is the cause of me waiting six months without a World Heavyweight title shot. But I don’t blame Stone Cold... I don’t blame him at all. Hell, I would have done the same thing if I was in his shoes. Stone Cold is a member of my faction, the Supremacy, but it doesn’t change the fact that I will still fight him as if he were the Rock or Eugene or anybody else in this match. Austin, you know what it’s like to be the champ... to be the best... and I know you have a thirst for that, Austin... a thirst that no beer can quench... a thirst that will not be quenched until you win this Thursday. Austin, you have my respect... good luck.”

A picture of Shelton Benjamin comes up on the titan-tron next.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Mr. Benjamin... another wrestler who has absolutely no clue what it’s like to be the World Heavyweight Champion... actually you have no clue what it’s like to be any kind of champion. Shelton, don’t get me wrong, you are a tremendous athlete... but compared to the others in this match, you are just not up to par... you just don’t cut it. You have been given a chance, Shelton... don’t let it go to waste... ‘cause you never know when the next time you will get another opportunity such as this one. Benjamin, I have never fought you... so you better be the most prepared... ‘cause you have no clue what you’re in store for. Oh, and Shelton, BELIEVE THE HYPE!”

Eugene’s picture comes up, showing Eugene laughing and waving.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Eugene... I could tell you that Eugene doesn’t deserve to be in this match like Shelton Benjamin and the Rock... but the fact is, Eugene beat me awhile back. For that reason and that reason only, I think Eugene deserves this chance. But I must admit, Eugene did get lucky when he faced me... and it’s going to take a hell of a lot more than just luck to beat me and the other six superstars come Thursday at Impact. Eugene, you also have no prior knowledge of being a World champion... and that reason is because you are just not World Championship material. Eugene, you continuously impress people day in and day out with your special abilities... but it ends there. You just don’t have what it takes to be the best.”

The Eugene picture disappears as Sting’s picture pops up.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, if it isn’t the big black bat... Sting, you are nothing. You are nothing but a rookie here in the WIW. Here in the WIW, you haven’t proved anything! You won one match... so what? You are the single superstar that does not deserve to be in this #1 Contender’s match the most. Sting, you question why I was inducted into the Hall of Fame? Well, just look at my accomplishments and you will find your answer. But I have a question of my own... why were you added into this match? What have you done to prove yourself? Sting, you say that I can fight a great match, but in the end I always come up short... heh, heh... well, you can think what you want, Sting... but come Thursday I won’t come up short... I will come up with a World Heavyweight title shot this Sunday at Dismember. Sting, I have respect for many of the superstars in the Battle Royal... but your not one of those superstars. You sit there and say that I have got lucky numerous times... alright. So I got lucky when I defeated twenty-nine other men at the Royal Rumble? Maybe. I got lucky when I beat Shawn Michaels and Triple H at Wrestlemania for the World Heavyweight Championship? Perhaps. I got lucky when I regained the World Heavyweight title from Triple H at Judgment Day? Not likely. I got lucky when I successfully defended the World title against men like Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle? No chance in hell. You can say I got lucky, Sting, but everyone knows that I am the real deal. And everybody knows that... YOU’RE NEXT!”

Goldberg lowers the microphone as he looks up at the titantron. The last picture to come up is that of the Heart Break Kid, Shawn Michael’s.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “And lastly, the Heart Break Kid, Shawn Michaels.”

There are cheers for the mention of Shawn’s name.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Shawn may just be my biggest competition in this match... that is if he decides to show up. Now I’m not talking about showing up physically... I’m talking about showing up mentally. Shawn also doesn’t deserve to be in this match. At one time, Shawn was the best... he was the World Heavyweight Champion. Then for his first title defense, Shawn simply did not show up mentally... giving Randy Orton an easy title win. Then, Shawn was given another chance at Soul Survivor to recapture the World Heavyweight Championship. But lone behold, Shawn did not show up mentally for the second straight time. Shawn blew his opportunity too many times as of late and he does not deserve to be in the title hunt once again. Shawn, you have my respect for all the things you have done here... including winning the World Heavyweight Championship... and defeating me a couple of weeks ago in a Last Man Standing match. Shawn, I have beat you numerous times in the past... and you have beat me, too. I know that you will be ready this time, Shawn... but I will be, too. When something like a shot at the World Heavyweight title is on the line, it tends to bring out the best in people and I am truly looking forward to fighting the best of Shawn Michaels. Shawn, I hope you show up mentally... ‘cause physically, you just might not be able to show up.”

The picture of HBK disappears as Goldberg continues.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I’m ready for the fight of my life... and I’m prepared to give it my all, no matter what it takes. I will walk out of Impact as the #1 Contender... while the others just might not even walk out. Six months I have waited... but I will not wait any longer. Lizzy... Austin... Shawn... Shelton... Rock... Eugene... Sting... YOU’RE ALL NEXT!!!”

Goldberg throws the microphone down to the mat as his music hits, thundering throughout the arena. Goldberg climbs the turnbuckle and lifts his arms into the air, posing for the fans. Goldberg yells as the scene slowly fades to black...
