Scene 1 ~ Anticipation
The scene opens up at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Royal Rumble has just kicked off and the crowd is highly anticipating the first match.
| `Good Ol' JR | “Welcome, ladies and gentlemen! We are here in the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia and this is the Royal Rumble!”
| `The King’ Jerry Lawler | “I am so excited, JR! There is nothing like the Royal Rumble. It only happens once a year. What a Pay-Per-View to be kicking off the year with!”
| `Good Ol' JR | “Tonight we will see matches like the Intercontinental Title match where John Cena, the Dr. of Thuganomics, will be defending the title against the self proclaimed King of the World, Chris Jericho.”
| `The King’ Jerry Lawler | “Ohhhhh, I can’t wait for that match. But how about the Women’s title match? PUPPIES!!! You can’t go wrong with puppies, JR. You like puppies, don’t you?”
| `Good Ol' JR | “Oh yes, King. I love puppies, however I am a happily married man. Nonetheless, you will see Lita challenging Lizzy Borden for the Women’s title. What a match that will be!
| `The King’ Jerry Lawler | “You will also see the World Heavyweight Title on the line as it will be Corporate Alliance member VS Corporate Alliance member! Shane Douglas takes on the Undertaker! Will we witness the Corporate Alliance destroy itself? I sure hope not...
| `Good Ol' JR | “I do! I’m sick of the CA running their mouths! Douglas is the undefeated World Heavyweight champion... but will tonight be the night that streak is ended? Undertaker has a huge opportunity. Can he take advantage of it? We will find out tonight!”
| `The King’ Jerry Lawler | “How can you forget about the 30 man over the top rope Royal Rumble match? Who will win this huge match and ensure a spot in the main event at Wrestlemania XX? Several favorites have been talked about recently. Among those are Kane, Chris Jericho, The Rock, Christian, Stevie Ray, and Goldberg!”
| `Good Ol' JR | “Speaking of Goldberg... Coach is standing by with him backstage to get a word about his huge night... Coach!”
| `WWE Interviewer’ Coach | “Thanks, JR!
The camera changes to Coach and Goldberg in a hallway backstage.
| `WWE Interviewer’ Coach | “I am here with one of the favorites, not in my opinion, but one of the people’s favorites to win the Rumble... of course I am talking about Bill Goldberg. Goldberg, first of all, what do you think your odds are of winning this match?”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Well, you could say I got a 1/30 chance at winning. But it all depends on what number I enter at. Those are the odds... but it doesn’t matter if its 1/30 or 1/1000000... there’s still that chance. And I will take that chance and I will win tonight.”
| `WWE Interviewer’ Coach | “Well, it’s easy to say that now. But will you be able to say that when you are standing in the ring with 29 guys all trying to eliminate you? I think not... Next question... If you did happen to win the Royal Rumble, do you have a preference of who to face at Wrestlemania XX... Undertaker or Shane Douglas?”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Well, I would like Shane to win... just so I can shut him up once and for all. I can also get my payback for all those times he has beaten me. But I realize that he is a tough competitor. So, logically, I want Undertaker to win.. just because I know how tough Shane is to beat... and I’m not sure about Taker. So, in my opinion, I could care less who wins. I actually just hope they beat the hell out of each other...”
| `WWE Interviewer’ Coach | “Rock... Jericho... Kane... Christian... they have all been in a Royal Rumble before. You have not, Goldberg. I see this as clearly a disadvantage. What...”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “You can see it however you want to. I see it as another obstacle. Nobody has seen me in a Royal Rumble... so that automatically means that I will not be good at it? WRONG! It means that nobody knows what I am capable of. I plan on going out there and making it look like I have wrestled in every single Royal Rumble!”
| `WWE Interviewer’ Coach | “You plan? Planning and actually doing it are two way different things. Shane O’ Mac has said several times that he has randomly drawn the entry numbers. However, it seems you don’t trust our boss...”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “I don’t trust Shane. Yeah, he says he randomly drew the entry numbers... but I don’t believe it. Shane does whatever he wants to make sure he always has all the power. He probably made me one of the top five entrants just to decrease my odds of winning. Well, I have said it before and I’ll say it again... it doesn’t matter what number I am. What does matter is that I will win tonight... no doubt about it.”
| `WWE Interviewer’ Coach | “Well, Goldberg, thanks for your time and... good luck at the Rumble... your going to need it because of the big target on your chest.”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | (sarcastically) “Gee, thanks a lot, Coach. Now that you have said good luck, I can surely win!”
Goldberg walks away as Coach smirks...
Scene 2 ~ The Silence Before the Storm
The scene opens about mid-way through the night.
| `Good Ol' JR | “What an action packed night it has been so far! And we haven’t even had our World Title match, yet!”
| `The King’ Jerry Lawler | “Shhhh... do you hear that, JR?”
| `Good Ol' JR | “I’m afraid I don’t hear anything, King.”
| `The King’ Jerry Lawler | “That’s what I am talking about, JR! It’s the silence before the storm. Everybody is anticipating the Rumble match!”
Suddenly the silence is interrupted as Goldberg’s music thunders throughout the arena. The crowd is on their feet as the famous GOLDBERG chant is started.
The titantron turns on showing Goldberg’s locker room door. A group of security guards walk up to it as one knocks. The door flings open as if it were paper. Goldberg walks out, accompanied by the security guards. Goldberg makes the long walk down the wall, then up the stairs until he reaches the stage. He stops at the entrance as his pyros blast off. Goldberg breathes in the smoke and breathes it out, making quite an intimidating scene. Goldberg walks through and punches and kicks the air and firecrackers blast off. The fans keep the chant going as Goldberg enters the ring, pumped up from the crowd. Bill asks for the mic as the fans begin to quiet down...
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “You’re looking at the future Royal Rumble winner!”
The crowd cheers at the mention of Goldberg winning the Royal Rumble.
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “So, tonight is the night. The night in which I will once again prove my strength and determination. I have set my sights on winning that Royal Rumble and nothing can stop from doing that! I realize that there are 29 men that are standing in my way... not just any 29 men... but the toughest 29 men in this business. That doesn’t mean a damn thing. I have beaten more than 29 men in my career.. what difference does it make if it is all at once?”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Among these 29 men is Kurt Angle. Kurt, I actually don’t mind you. But when you entered that Royal Rumble... you declared yourself one of the 29 men that are NEXT! Angle has just returned from being hurt... which means that he is no condition to wrestle. Kurt, after tonight you just may need to go back to the hospital...”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Then there is Sean O’Haire... the same guy that I destroyed on the last edition of SMACKDOWN!... Sean, do you think you have what it takes to come out the winner? Cause, quite frankly, I don’t. Sure, you had a small little stint as the WWE Hardcore Champion and you beat me for that title... but that was then and this is now. I am a hell of a lot tougher now than I was then. O’Haire may end up in a hospital bed right next to Angle... Hey, I’m not telling you anything you didn’t already know!”
The fans cheer as Goldberg uses Sean O’Haire’s catchphrase.
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Brock Lesnar... I don’t know where you were the last couple of weeks... but you thought it would be a perfect return to win the Royal Rumble. Well, it would be perfect... if you could win! But you can’t. You even said so yourself that you have a huge target on your chest. I have a huge target on my chest, too, but I can handle the people that will be coming after me. You, on the other hand, can’t.”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Stone Cold Steve Austin...”
The crowd cheers with the mention of that name.
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Yeah... Austin... you just made your big return to the WWE. But I think you forgot something... your wrestling skills! Austin, there’s no way you will be able to come back out of retirement and win the Rumble. And that’s all I gotta say about that.”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Of course there are the other guys. Like Jericho, Cena, Kane, Rock, Orton, Stevie Ray, Christian... I have pretty much said all that I need to over the last couple of days. Oh, just one more thing needs to be said... I am hereby declaring the other 29 men NEXT!!!”
Goldberg drops the mic as the fans cheer. Goldberg high fives a couple fans on the way back to his locker room.
| `Good Ol' JR | “While every Superstar entering the Rumble will claim that they are the favorite to win, none of them bring the combination of strength and intensity that Goldberg will. My pick for tonight is Bill Goldberg...”
| `The King’ Jerry Lawler | “That’s a good choice. It’s obvious that Goldberg is ready for this huge opportunity. Goldberg is a clear favorite because he is one of the most ferocious men to ever enter the ring. Goldberg has the motivation to destroy every man who will stand in his way at the Royal Rumble – even if it means eliminating every man who enters. However, there is a certain individual who has made a point to say that he will go out of his to eliminate Goldberg. That individual is Kane! Kane is my pick to win the Rumble!
| `Good Ol' JR | “And Kane could very well win the thing. We will just have to wait and see. But do you what’s up next?”
| `The King’ Jerry Lawler | “What? What? WHAT?!”
| `Good Ol' JR | “It’s the World Heavyweight Championship... Undertaker VS Shane Douglas!!!”
‘Deep Purple’ by Perfect Strangers hits as Shane Douglas walks out...
