Scene 1 ~ Dreams Do Come True... And So Do Nightmares!
The scene opens up at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which is where the Royal Rumble where take place. It is about noon as several WWE superstars are here to sign autographs. Among these superstars, is Royal Rumble entrant, Bill Goldberg. It is about an hour before the autograph signing as we find Goldberg sitting in a room by himself.
Goldberg appears to be watching a small TV in the corner of the room. As the camera changes angles you can see that Goldberg is watching a Royal Rumble from the past. It appears to be Royal Rumble 1995. There are two men remaining... Shawn Michaels and the late British Bulldog. The two men battle it out as Goldberg watches.
HBK and the Bulldog battle it out, both trying to get the other over the top rope. Bulldog clotheslines HBK over the rope and turns around, thinking he is the winner. However, Michaels hangs on to the rope and his feet never touch the ground. Shawn pulls himself back into the ring as the fans cheer. Bulldog slowly turns around as HBK delivers a devastating Sweet Chin Music, almost knocking the Bulldog’s head right off. Bulldog stumbles back, right over the top rope and onto the ground. The crowd goes nuts as the bell sounds. Shawn Michaels has did it. Michaels entered the Rumble as #1 and has went through all 29 men to end up winning. Pamela Anderson, who was ringside, enters the ring and celebrates with Shawn. She will accompany Shawn to Wrestlemania, where a dream may come true...
Goldberg clicks off the TV, thinking about what just went down.
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Well, there you go. That proves that this Sunday, at the Royal Rumble, I can enter #1 and I will still end up winning it. Shawn Michael’s dream came true on that night of January 22, 1995. This Sunday, my dream will come true. Ever since I entered that Rumble, it has been everybody’s nightmare... seeing me win the Royal Rumble. Well, this Sunday, that nightmare will become a reality.”
Goldberg turns the TV back on and sees the Big Red Machine. Kane has just chokeslammed his manager, Eric Bischoff, right off the stage. Kane begins to laugh as Goldberg turns the TV back off.
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Is that supposed to intimidate me, Kane? Beating up a man who has never wrestled... is that supposed to have some effect on me? It doesn’t. You see, Kane, while everyone else seems to fear you... I don’t! Kane, I proved that you are not all that you say you are. As far as I’m concerned... you’re just a little BITCH! I will prove that, once again, you are no match for the Man! I eliminated you once, Kane, and I can sure as hell do it again. I can... and I will. While your going out of your way to eliminate me... I’ll be eliminating everybody else. And who knows? Maybe it will end up being the two of us remaining in the match. Then we will see who is the better man... or just I say who is the better monster! ‘Cause everybody knows its Da Man, GOLDBERG!!”
Goldberg gets up leaves the room...
Scene 2 ~ Visualizing the Rumble
Goldberg leaves the room and walks down the hall, towards the inside of the arena. Goldberg walks out on the half built stage and looks down at the newly constructed ring. Goldberg walks down and climbs in it. He looks out at the empty chairs, that will be filled tomorrow night.
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Here I am... the same place where I will be tomorrow night. But tomorrow night will be a whole lot different. I will be in this ring with what could be up to 29 other men. There will also be about 18,000 people chanting a certain name... my name!”
Goldberg pauses, thinking to himself. Then he continues...
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Among those 29 other men will be the likes of Chris Jericho... Kane... The Rock... Buff Bagwell... Goldberg... So, earlier, I heard Jericho talking... or running his mouth is more like it. Jericho keeps reminding the world that he beat me. Well, you better soak in the moment... cause that good feeling is about to be gone. Jericho, I can tell that the last thing on your mind is the Rumble. Your more concerned about talking to your pals, Rock and Orton. Then you talk about beating Cena. If I was you, I would focus more on the task at hand. I mean the Intercontinental Title is great and everything, but it doesn’t compare to a World Heavyweight title shot. Wait a second, I know why Jericho is more focused on his IC title match... he knows he doesn’t stand a chance against 29 other men, even with Rock and Orton in his corner. Especially when I am in the match. Yeah, Jericho, you beat me once... can you do it again? ‘Cause you and I both know the true answer to that...”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Another one of my Rumble opponents, although not mentioned very often, is Stevie Ray... Stevie, there is no doubt that you will go far in the Rumble. But do you honestly think you will be able to win? Do you think your approach is very good? Instead of getting in shape and lifting weights, you are eating... Eating?! You think that no one will be able to throw you out if you become the fattest guy out there... whatever!”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Then we have The Rock. Rocky, I addressed you the other day and that’s pretty much all I have to say. You talk about how the 29 other guys should bring it? Well, I don’t know about the others, but I’ll bring it alright. I’ll bring a jackhammer and jackhammer your ass right out of that ring!”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Then there is Buff ‘The Stuff’ Bagwell. Well, I have no idea what the deal is with him. Last Monday Night, he had the chance of a life time to win a shot at the champ... instead of fighting 29 other men, he would be facing Shane Douglas... but Buff didn’t even seem to try. I don’t know what is up with you, but you better get ready for the Rumble... you better get ready for your first encounter with THE MAN!”
Goldberg rolls out of the ring and heads to the back to get ready for his signing...
Scene 3 ~ Questions
This scene opens up in the lobby of the Wachovia Center. Several tables are set up for the autograph signing. Tons of fans are packed in, anxious to meet their favorite superstars. A WWE representative comes out as the fans cheer, knowing that the signing will soon start. The representative climbs on top of the table...
| `WWE Representative' Kevin | “First of all, I would like to thank you all for coming out here today. We ask for you to please form lines in front of each of the tables before you. The signing will be starting in about 5 minutes. Thank you...”
Kevin hops down as the fans push and shove, trying to get a good spot in line. After about 3 minutes, the ‘GOLDBERG’ chant is started. Suddenly, Goldberg walks through the black curtain carrying a water bottle as the fans cheer. Goldberg waves to the fans and sits down behind the first table. Goldberg begins signing autographs and posing with kids for pictures. The sixth kid in line comes up with what seems to be a million questions....
| `Loyal WWE Fan' David | “Oh my gosh! It’s a pleasure to meet you, Goldberg.”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Pleasure is all mine. What would you like me to sign for you?”
| `Loyal WWE Fan' David | “Actually, I just have a question for you. I am going to the Rumble... I have 3rd row seats... anyway, I was wondering if you think you can win the Rumble?”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “I have been asked that question a lot. Yeah, I do believe I have what it takes to win. I may lack the experience, since I have never competed in the Rumble itself, but I think I have an idea what it will be like. I have closely watched all 29 opponents, and they don’t appear to have the same desire I have.”
| `Loyal WWE Fan' David | “Whoa! I can’t wait to see you win! What was it like in the WcW?”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “You know, kid, there are a lot of other people in line. Sorry, but I really should be moving on...”
| `Loyal WWE Fan' David | “But... but... but I still have four more questions! Come on!
David reluctantly leaves as the next guy walks up.
| `Weird WWE Fan' Gary | “Goldberg, you are my favorite WWE superstar... next to Kane of course. Kane is the big red machine and he will win tomorrow night!”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Is that so? Well, I hope you were watching when I eliminated your boy, Kane, on RAW...1...2...3!”
| `Weird WWE Fan' Gary | “Last Monday was a fluke. Nobody messes with my monster! You will get what’s coming to you, Goldberg... you’ll see! HAHAHAHAHA!
Security escorts Gary away as Goldberg shakes his head, not believing what just happened. A younger lady, about mid 20s, walks up...
| `Hot WWE Fan' Amanda | “Hey, Goldberg. I can’t believe I’m meeting you. I think you’re so incredibly sexy... and my boyfriend get so jealous.”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “Well, thanks. You are pretty hot yourself. Is there anything I can do for ya?”
| `Hot WWE Fan' Amanda | “Well, actually, yeah there is... I want you to win the Royal Rumble. I will be attending it tomorrow night and I am looking forward to seeing you eliminate everybody else. But I realize there are many tough competitors in the match. In your opinion, who do you think is the biggest threat?”
| `Da Man' Goldberg | “The biggest threat? Well, I would have to say for me, it’s Kane. Kane has mentioned that he will go out of his way just to eliminate me... well, that’s saying a lot. A person with half of their sense would not go looking for me. Telling me that he will go out of his way shows me that he has a lot of guts, but not a lot of brains. Otherwise, there are a lot of threats in this match. Everyone says they will win this match. I could win... Kane could win... You, Amanda, could win... the popcorn vendor guy could win... Christian could win! Yeah, they all could win... but they won’t. I WILL WIN!”
| `Hot WWE Fan' Amanda | “OK... thanks a lot, Goldberg. Good luck at the Rumble....
Over the next hour or so, Goldberg signs more autographs for his fans.
Scene 4 ~ What the Fans Think...
As Goldberg finishes signing autographs, he goes back to his room. Meanwhile, Coach is standing outside of the Wachovia Center. As fans come out, Coach tries to ask them their opinion of the Rumble...
| `WWE Interviewer' Coach | “Hey, sir? You... with the Kane shirt on!”
The weird fan who was escorted by security out of the arena walks over.
| `Weird WWE Fan' Gary | “Hey, Coach!”
| `WWE Interviewer' Coach | “Hey... did I see that correctly? Did security just kick you out for voicing your opinion?”
| `Weird WWE Fan' Gary | “They sure did! All I said was that Kane will win. No harm in that, was there? That’s what this country was founded on... free speech! And now they are taking it away from me? Their violating my constitutional rights... that’s what their doing!”
| `WWE Interviewer' Coach | “Yeah... so you think Kane will win?”
| `Weird WWE Fan' Gary | “Without a doubt!”
Gary walks away as another fan walks up.
| `WWE Interviewer' Coach | “’Scuse me, sir? Who will win the Royal Rumble?”
| ‘One of the Millions and Millions of Rock’s Fans ' Steve | “IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO WILL WIN, COACH!”
| `WWE Interviewer' Coach | “It doesn’t?”
| ‘One of the Millions and Millions of Rock’s Fans ' Steve | “Of course it does, Coach. Who will win the Royal Rumble? It will be the jabroni beatin, pie eatin, People’s Champ... that’s who its gon be!”
| `WWE Interviewer' Coach | “Well...
| ‘One of the Millions and Millions of Rock’s Fans ' Steve | “IF YA SMELLLLLLALALALALALALOW... WHAT THE ROCK... IS... COOKIN’!!!”
Steve walks away as Coach catches up with another fan.
| `WWE Interviewer' Coach | “Hey! Who’s going to win the Rumble?”
| `Believer of the Hype' Jim | “GOLDBERG... GOLDBERG... GOLDBERG!!!”
| `WWE Interviewer' Coach | “Ok... OK! I’m right here... you don’t have to chant his name!”
| `Believer of the Hype' Jim | “Coach, you need to Believe the Hype! Goldberg will win that Royal Rumble match and I wouldn’t be surprised if he eliminated all 29 men! Goldberg is DA MAN! FEAR THE SPEAR! WHOOOOOOOO!!!”
The fan runs off screaming.
| `WWE Interviewer' Coach | “Well, there you have it. Some idiots here actually think Goldberg will win! HA! As for the Coach’s prediction? The winner of the 2004 Royal Rumble will be... ME! HA! Yeah, it would be... but Shane O’ Mac wouldn’t let me enter...”
The scene fades...
