Forward ~ What’s Next?
It appears the Goldberg Era is over... for now. The Goldberg saga has started a whole new chapter, leaving the World Heavyweight Championship in the dust. It is times like these in which we wonder what will happen to Da Man. Will he fade off much like the ex-Champions of the past? Or will he re-emerge, bigger and better than ever? Only time will tell what will truly happen next...
Scene 1 ~
The scene opens up at a house show just a few days away from Impact. The turnout out for the show is surprisingly good for the event being a house show. All night long, the crowd has been hot, cheering and chanting for their favorite WIW superstars... and booing the others.
All of a sudden, Goldberg’s theme thunders throughout the arena. The fans, of course, boo. Goldberg just walks out with his head held high, completely ignoring the fans boos and chants. Goldberg heads into the ring and takes a microphone from Howard Finkel, the ring announcer.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, well, well... I’m sure to you pathetic people, it looks like I am growing weak. I lost my last two matches and I’m sure you people are loving every bit of it. When I lose, it makes each and every one of you think that maybe... just maybe, I am human after all. Maybe I am not that unstoppable force I once was. Maybe I am nothing...”
Goldberg lowers the microphone as the fans continue to boo.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “You think I am weak?! Those last two matches I lost were nothing but a fluke! I should have beat those two... everybody knows that. I am a former two-time World Heavyweight Champion! I won this year’s Royal Rumble... and I have beaten every single person who has mustered enough courage to step up to me.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Last week on Xplosion, I had that match won. But due to some certain... circumstances... I lost. In other words... I was screwed. Christian didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell at winning that match... I knew it, he knew it, and all you fans knew it. Christian is nothing but some skinny little twerp with an attitude. After Xplosion, I vowed to get revenge on Christian. But the next thing I know, Christian is gone. He quits the WWE. Why? Because he knew that his days were numbered. He knew that he pissed off the wrong guy. Christian is a coward and he couldn’t handle the fact that he was NEXT.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “So anyway, this week on Impact, I have been disrespected. I have been disrespected because I am in a match against three complete losers. The whole thing is just a joke... I go from main eventing with guys like Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin... to main eventing with a has-been, The Rock... a never will-be, Frankie Kazarian... and a wannabe, Johnny Stamboli. These three men don’t even deserve to be in the same event with me, let alone the same match. I mean, come on! These three aren’t even in my league. They couldn’t last one minute with me in the ring. But the match has been booked... so I guess it will happen. This is a chance of a lifetime for these three nobodies. If they win this match, it will be huge for their career. But there’s just one thing... they won’t win this match. I will.”
The fans continue to boo.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “My first opponent is Frankie ‘The Future’ Kazarian. Uh... one question... who the hell is this guy?! He calls himself the future, but I think he needs to focus more on the present. Who is the very best presently? Well, put it this way, you’re looking at him. Frankie, you are undefeated... but does a little undefeated streak like yours even matter? If you want people to be impressed with your undefeated streak, beat my undefeated streak. That’s right... let’s see you go undefeated for over one hundred and seventy six matches. The fact is you can’t... and you won’t. You see, Frankie, the undefeated streak ends here. It ends at Impact, ‘cause believe it or not, you are NEXT!”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Then there’s Johnny Stamboli. Once again... a nobody. Once again... undefeated. Yeah, he might be undefeated... but he has only fought in one match. And it wasn’t even a tough match. Stamboli, just because you beat a nobody like John Cena, it doesn’t mean anything. Stamboli, you’re going to walk into this match thinking that you have it won. Well, FORGET ABOUT IT! ‘Cause come this Thursday night on Impact, you’ll be lucky to even make it to the ring.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “And last and certainly least, is the Rock.”
The fans immediately cheer for the Rock.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah, the People’s Chump. Rock, you are probably the dumbest man in this match. You are completely brainwashed by these people. You say your little catchphrases in sync with the fans and you throw your arms into the air, saluting the fans. It makes me sick. The Rock has potential to be great if he stopped caring about the fans so much and started caring about his goals... like winning the World Heavyweight Championship for one. Well, I said the Rock has potential... but maybe the Rock had potential. He is no longer the same Rock that electrifies his audiences... that welcomes every superstar in the back to just bring it. He is no longer the Rock that used to beat his opponents left and right. You see, the Rock is slowly starting to crumble as time wears on. And little by little, the Rock will convince himself that he doesn’t have it anymore. He will convince himself just to quit wrestling all together and go back to making movies. Rock, we’ll see just how much you’ve got left this Thursday on Impact.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “So there you have it... three losers in the same ring with Da Man. It has been hyped up pretty well as a match that will be great. But if you’re in Las Vegas, thinking about who to bet on to win this match... look no further. The true winner is standing right in the middle of this ring. That’s all there is to it. Rock, Stamboli, and Kazarian can trash talk as much crap as they want to, but when it comes down to it, trash talking doesn’t win matches. Power wins matches. There is no doubt about it that I am the strongest man in this match. There is also no doubt about it that I have the most experience in this match. So guys, heh, I’ll see you Thursday!”
Goldberg drops the mic as he taunts the fans. They begin to boo again as Goldberg laughs to himself. Then he heads backstage to his locker room.
