Forward ~ NO WAY OUT
The final Pay-Per-View before Wrestlemania XX is here. The night where you have to prove yourself one last time before the greatest spectacular. Rivalries strengthen... Blood boils... Heat rises... This time, there will be no escaping... this time you will be forced to face your fears... this time there is NO...WAY... OUT!!!
Scene 1 ~ No More Coach!
The scene opens at the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. The lobby is full of workers walking back and forth. It is an extremely busy day, considering No Way Out is just a few days away. The camera focuses in on a certain individual just walking through the doors. The man appears to be none other than ‘Da Man’, Bill Goldberg. Goldberg walks towards the front desk as the secretary looks up from her computer.
| ‘WWE Secretary’ Sarah | “Can I help you, Mr. Goldberg?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Actually I was about to ask you the same question... I got a call to come here for some kind of meeting...”
The secretary’s eyebrows raise, giving a confused look.
| ‘WWE Secretary’ Sarah | “Hmm... let me check on that...”
Sarah sits back down and types some things into her computer. Goldberg suddenly hears a very familiar voice behind him...
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Goldberg! Did you get my message?”
Goldberg tells the secretary to forget it, as he walks over to Coach.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I rushed here just to talk to you?!”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “YEAH!”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, I was looking for a good interview for my match this Sunday...”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Well, I’m just the guy to do it!”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “But... I would rather have a respectful interviewer...”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Respectful? That’s so me!”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Nah... I mean this would be a huge interview... I wouldn’t want to put all that pressure on your shoulders.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Put it on! I’m used to all the pressure of perfection!”
Goldberg looks away as a younger guy walks by. Goldberg taps him on the shoulder and finds out that it’s SMACKDOWN! interviewer, Josh Matthews.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Hey, Josh, would you mind giving me an interview?”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Absolutely!”
Goldberg nods his head as they head off towards the locker rooms, leaving Coach frustrated and speechless.
Scene 2 ~ Big Red Nightmare?
The scene opens up in a small room with leather couches and a glass coffee table in the middle. Goldberg is sitting on one couch, opposite of Josh.
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “First of all, the world stood in shock as the undefeated World Heavyweight Champion, ‘The Franchise’, Shane Douglas, walked out on the WWE. Nobody knows exactly why, but many have speculations. What do you think?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, Josh, I could sit here and say that he was scared of facing me at Wrestlemania... but I know damn well that that isn’t true. The WWE is a tough business. You are traveling 75% of the time and the other 15% you are wrestling. There is no time for family or anything. But why did ‘The Franchise’ just take his ball and go home? I really don’t know to tell you the truth. It appears he had some conflicts within the WWE and he couldn’t take all the heat anymore. A guy can only take so much and it appears that Douglas’ limit was crossed. I have no idea what he is doing now... some say he may open his own wrestling business... but whatever, he does I want to wish him luck... not because I like him... but because I know what he was going through.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Well, on behalf of the entire WWE, we would like to wish our former champ the best of luck. Moving on... last week you fought Buff Bagwell with Shane McMahon as the special guest referee. What happened there?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, once again, I did what I promised... I won the match. But I didn’t expect Shane O’ Mac to make the three count himself. But then what happened? Well, just like every week... Kane comes out and chokeslams me. Kane will get what is coming to him. Week in and week out he has been attacking me... fueling the fire, so to speak... well, Kane, it seems like you like to play with fire. Just remember if you play with fire you might get burned. And if you attack Goldberg... you might... no.... you will be NEXT!!!”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “RAW lead right into No Way Out. What is your basic rating of Kane?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Kane is pretty damn formidable. He tests me. They say he can’t feel pain. But I’ve seen his face when I’ve rocked him with my punches, and I know differently.”
“They say he can’t feel pain... I know differently.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “RAW ended with Kane standing over you... many have said that that’s exactly what will happen this Sunday. Your response to those predictions?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “You know, the fans can think what ever they want... they have the right to predict what ever they want. They pay their hard earned money to come see us do what we love doing... But the fact still remains that Kane will not win at No Way Out. It’s that plain and simple. There’s nothing more to it.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Well, in a recent interview I conducted with the Big Red Machine, he said that you are not getting the message.... that the fans have tricked you into thinking you can beat him.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “What message am I supposed to be getting, Josh? I beat Kane twice... shouldn’t he be getting the message...?”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “And what message is that?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “The message that in three days he will be losing his TV title to DA MAN!”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Oh.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “As for the fans tricking me into think I will beat you... the fans haven’t tricked me at all. The fans know it as well as I do. Kane, you yourself know that this Sunday, you will meet your match. There is no escaping it this time, Kane. This Sunday... there will be NO WAY OUT!”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Kane also said that you are jealous of him. Whenever he is about to achieve greatness, you are there to ruin it for him.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah... I am so jealous of that big red retard, Kane. Come on, Josh... Kane is the one who always attacks me. Kane is jealous that I am going to Wrestlemania regardless of the outcome this Sunday at No Way Out.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Kane has guaranteed that you will never take his WWE Television title away from him. However, you have also said that you promise that you will walk out with it. Who’s word should one believe?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Believe what you want... but the fact of the matter is that when Kane has guaranteed stuff in the past... he has always come up short on that promise. I, on the other hand, said I would win the Royal Rumble, which I did... and I said that I would beat Stevie Ray, ‘HBK’ Shawn Michaels, and Buff Bagwell... which I also did. So who’s word is worth more? You make the call...”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Come to think of it, Kane has said that you are not the best cause you have yet to beaten the best... which is Kane himself.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I think Kane may have burnt the part of his brain off that remembers stuff. I eliminated Kane at both the Royal Rumble and the RAW before it... I have yet to face Kane one-on-one, but after this Sunday, I will once again prove that I am the best!”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Kane also said that nobody cares what you are the former champion of... all he cares about is the present and the future.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Present and the future, huh? Well, right now I am in the middle of a winning streak. And in the future I will be both the World Heavyweight Champion as well as the WWE Television Champion!”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “The Big Red Machine said that, and I quote... ‘I see myself retaining my WWE Television Championship, and I see Goldberg falling to his knees and being forgotten, falling into the shadows of this company!’... your response to that?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Falling into the shadows of this company? Regardless of the outcome at No Way Out, I am going to Wrestlemania to fight for the World Heavyweight Championship... so if that’s ‘falling into the shadows’... yeah, that’s what I’m doing.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Kane has said that your ‘YOU’RE NEXT!’ motto is nothing more than two words... that they don’t strike fear in him.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “You know what, Josh, I always say this but apparently Kane doesn’t listen. Those words are not meant to strike fear into my opponents... they are simply declaration... nothing more, nothing less. When I say that ‘YOU’RE NEXT!’, I am declaring to the world that you will be the next one to fall at the hands of Goldberg!”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I heard Kane also say that words don’t mean a thing and that actions do... well, my actions as of late have been quite devastating if you ask me.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Kane said that you will not be the same after you face him...”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Kane is absolutely right... for once. After I face Kane I won’t be the same... I will be the WWE Television Champion!”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Indeed. So what do your match to be like this Sunday?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I expect it to be a very tough match. In my eyes... this has been one big war and the end is approaching. The end is always the most explosive part of a war. As for right now... it’s the silence before the storm. It’s that awkward silence that gives you that feeling deep down inside that something big is about to happen. And something big will happen. One of us will not walk out of the Cow Palace this Sunday on our own two feet.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Kane was on SMACKDOWN!, and he said that it doesn’t matter how strong you are or how much you want to win. He said that he will win no matter what the circumstances are.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Once again, Kane is running his mouth about how good he is. Kane is nothing. I have been in this business for a hell of a lot longer than Kane has. He has a lot of nerve saying the things he said. But it’s all ok. He will realize the truth very soon.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Also on SMACKDOWN!, he talked of how wrestling is his life. How whenever he was teased he would...”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah... we all know the story. He would get teased and then sit in the corner and read WWE magazines. Well, while he was reading magazines, I was at the gym... working out to be the best. If he think that I don‘t eat, sleep, and breathe wrestling... he has a lot to learn. Wrestling is my life, too. I would be willing to do anything for this business.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Kane has said that as long as you have the fans behind you, you will think that you are the best.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, I admit that having the fans behind me is a big thing for me. If it wasn’t for these fans, this whole wrestling world that Kane loves so much would not even exist. Kane says that every time the people boo him, his strength grows... that he feeds off of the fans’ negative attention. Well, every time the people chant my name, my strength grows. I get pumped up... I become intensified. The fans are my fuel... and they make me become Da Man!”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Kane talks about the fire within him... how it has always been there, buring... what do you say about that?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, Kane, there is a fire that burns within me too. And as Wrestlemania approaches, that flame just keeps getting hotter and more dangerous.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Kane has mentioned that the fans didn’t accept him after he showed the true Kane. So my question to you is... are you showing the real Goldberg? And if not, will the fans like the real Goldberg?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yes, Josh. This is the real Goldberg. In the real world, I am just as vicious as I am in the WWE. I don’t take shit from anybody, especially not people who feel sorry for themselves.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “People who feel sorry for themselves? Is that a hint towards Kane?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah. Kane has been going on and on about that fire he was in his entire life. It’s getting a bit sickening. Nothing physically is wrong with Kane. But Kane seems to keep bringing that up, trying to get some kind of sympathy. Well he won’t be getting any sympathy this Sunday.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Kane said that he used to be the fan favorite but he realized that the fans were holding him back. Kane stopped caring about the fans... but then Kane saw you... a guy who the fans love... a guy who the fans chant for... a guy who has been called ‘Da Man’. He said the moment he saw you, he felt sick...”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, the moment I saw Kane, I felt sick. Kane sits there and runs down his opponents, the fans, everybody. Then he wonders why the fans don’t like him... Kane said that the fans were holding him back? Well, he’s wrong... he went much farther when the fans were on his side.”
| ‘SD Interviewer’ Josh Matthews | “Well, that about wraps it up for this interview. Any closing comments about anything we have mentioned?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah, Josh. Each and every week since the Rumble, Kane has talked about how he will get revenge on me. This Sunday Kane has his chance. But it won’t be easy. Kane, you are walking into this thing thinking you will crush me. Well, that assumption is incorrect. Kane will leave that arena as the champion, I promise you that. Kane, nightmares have never scared me. ‘Cause quite frankly, nightmares aren’t real... but I am! And this Sunday you will truly find out how it feels to be NEXT!!!”
Goldberg stares into the camera as if Kane was standing right there in front of him. Josh stands up and thanks Goldberg for the interview as the camera fades...
