Forward ~ WRESTLEMANIA XX

The time has come to face your sins... all that has gone down has led up to this moment... the moment where you dreams come true... the moment that all your hard work has paid off... the moment where you celebrate a long and victorious journey... or the moment where you fail... the moment you loss and that you will hear about forever... the moment that was supposed to be yours... it’s finally here... the granddaddy of them all...WHERE IT ALL BEGINS... AGAIN...WRESTLEMANIA XX!!!

Scene 1 ~ WHO’S THAT JUMPING OUT THE SKY?

The scene opens up in the parking lot of the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. A car has just pulled up, the engine clicking off as door flings open. Out steps a man who a huge weight on his shoulders... not literally. Out steps Goldberg, who has the biggest opportunity of his career tomorrow night. The opportunity to become what each and every man wants to become... the World’s Heavyweight Champion. Goldberg closes the door and opens his trunk, taking out a gym bag. He heads towards the building, a very serious look on his face.

He walks through the doors and heads for the secretary’s desk. She looks up from some paperwork, startled.

| ‘WWE Secretary’ Sarah | “Hello, Goldberg. What can I do for ya?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Actually, I was hoping you could do something for me... I got a message from Shane McMahon on my cell and I was hoping you could let him know that I’m here.”

| ‘WWE Secretary’ Sarah | “Sure thing... it’ll be one second.”

Goldberg backs away from the desk, heading towards the waiting area. He sits down on the leather couch and picks up one of the magazines off the glass coffee table. The magazine is simply entitled WRESTLEMANIA XX: WHERE IT ALL BEGINS... AGAIN! The magazine talks about each one of the matches booked for Wrestlemania this year. Goldberg flicks through the first couple pages, until he comes to the Rey Mysterio VS Gangrel for the Television Title.

A shadow appears over Goldberg as a familiar voice is heard.

| ‘High Flyin’ Rey Mysterio | “Checking out the best match of the night, huh?”

Goldberg gets up and turns around, a smile on his face.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Rey, what’s up?”

| ‘High Flyin’ Rey Mysterio | “I’m just getting ready for ‘Mania, you know? This is the biggest event ever!”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah, Wrestlemania XX is finally here.”

| ‘High Flyin’ Rey Mysterio | “So what about you? What are you here for?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, I got a call to meet with Shane...”

| ‘High Flyin’ Rey Mysterio | “I see... I see. Well, I gotta go, man. Good luck at ‘Mania, bro.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Thanks. But you’re the one who’s gonna need luck.”

Goldberg and Rey laugh as Mysterio heads out the door. Goldberg sits back down, turning his attention back to the magazine. He turns to the main event... the World Heavyweight Title match. The magazine shows several pictures of Triple H/ HBK/ Goldberg encounters.

| ‘WWE Secretary’ Sarah | “Goldberg? Mr. McMahon can see you now.”

Goldberg sets the magazine down and makes his way to the elevator. He walks in, pressing the top floor button, Shane ‘O Mac’s office...

Scene 2 ~ Here Comes the Money!

The scene opens up as Goldberg walks into the office of WWE owner, Shane McMahon. Shane has apparently been waiting for Goldberg.

| ‘WWE Owner’ Shane McMahon | “Ah, Goldberg. I’m glad you decided to come. Please have a seat.”

Goldberg slowly sits down in the chair opposite from Shane.

| ‘WWE Owner’ Shane McMahon | “Let’s get right down to it... Tomorrow night is the biggest spectacular of all time, Wrestlemania XX... and as you know, you are in the main event. Now many people are counting on you to win this match...”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah... so what are you getting at?”

| ‘WWE Owner’ Shane McMahon | “When people are expecting what they want to happen will happen... it means buyrates. Buyrates equals two things... do you know what those two things are, Goldberg?”

Goldberg does not answer.

| ‘WWE Owner’ Shane McMahon | “Buyrates equal ratings and they equal money. But if you don’t win at Wrestlemania, we will lose a lot of fans and a lot of money. And that just can’t happen. So I want you to tell me that you will win at Wrestlemania.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Win at Wrestlemania? Shane, what the hell have I been saying for the last two months? I have worked my ass off to get here and I’m not about to waste this opportunity.”

| ‘WWE Owner’ Shane McMahon | “Good... but saying something and doing it are two different things. So I want to give you an added motivation...”

Shane pulls out a metal briefcase. He turns it so it is facing Goldberg. Goldberg opens it, revealing a bunch of money.

| ‘WWE Owner’ Shane McMahon | “Goldberg, if you win at Wrestlemania, this will all be yours. What do you say?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “What do I say? I say take this money and stick it up your ass! You are the smartest guy in the WWE and yet, you still don’t know, do you? You don’t know what I want. I don’t want your damn money. Shane, it’s never been about the money. It’s about proving that I am the best by winning that title. I’m going to win in at Wrestlemania... not for the money...as sure as hell not for you... I’m going to win that title for two things... for me... and for the fans. The fans deserve a champion who they can be proud of... not some asshole who’s in it for the money. This Sunday they will have a champion who they can look up to... not some phony champion like Shane Douglas was... not some phony champion like Johnny Stamboli was... for once, the WWE will have a real champion.”

Goldberg gets up, staring at a now angry Shane McMahon. Goldberg turns around as he heads towards the door, leaving a speechless Shane.

Scene 3 ~ Everybody needs a good Coach...

The scene opens back up in the weight lifting room. Several WWE superstars, mostly rookies, are seen working out. Among these superstars is Da Man, Goldberg. Goldberg has just finished squatting as he heads over to the benches. Goldberg wipes the sweat off his face with the his towel. The door opens up as Jonathon Coachman walks in, a big grin on his face.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “What are you so happy about?”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | It’s time for Wrestlemania! How can you not be happy? The biggest spectacular of all time is here... which means I receive the best interviews of all time... which means more money!

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “So I suppose you want an interview... is that what you came in here for?”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “That’s it... now we’re getting somewhere.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “It’s really not the best time...”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “I know... I mean I’m a busy guy, but I took time out of my busy schedule just so you can give a promo...”

Goldberg glares at Coach.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Come back in about an hour. I’ll give you your little interview then.”

Goldberg walks away, not giving Coach much of a choice. Coach looks at his watch, as he walks out the door.

Scene 4 ~ Meeting up with the Coach...

The next scene opens up with Goldberg in his locker room. Goldberg is wearing a cut-off BELIEVE THE HYPE t-shirt with black gym shorts. The door opens as Coach barges in.

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Let’s get this interview started, shall we? First off, what does Wrestlemania mean to you? What kind of feelings does it stir within yourself? Are you nervous... excited...scared?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Coach, I have been in big matches like mine tomorrow night. Tomorrow night is nothing special... I could sit here and say that... but we all know that’s not the case. You see, I have been in a match of this caliber before but when you add Wrestlemania to it... it just makes it worth more. This is my first Wrestlemania, but I know what it will be like. As for my feelings, I’d be crazy to tell you that I’m not nervous. Who wouldn’t be? In under 24 hours, I will be in the ring in the biggest match of my career at the biggest pay-per-view ever in front of 30,000 chanting fans, all chanting one name... Goldberg. But what if I lose. What if I let every one of those 30,000 fans and every one watching at home... what if I let them down. Everything that I have worked for could be for nothing. Tommorrow night, I have a chance at failing... if I lose tommorrow night, everyone will remember it. Every where I go , I will hear... Hey, it’s Goldberg... the guy that lost at Wrestlemania XX!... But if I win, I will be remembered as the guy who lived his dream when he defeated Triple H and HBK for the World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania XX. That second outcome... that sounds much better. I worked my entire life to get where I am right now... on the eve of Wrestlemania, where I will have a World Heavyweight Title shot. When I look back, I remember all the hardships I’ve faced to get here. I remember the pain and suffering...the days of training hard in 90 degree weather. I was on the brink of quitting... of throwing it all away... I was that close at throwing in the towel. But I didn’t... I stuck with it and I kept perservering. And now, looking back, I now know that it was all worth it. In just under 24 hours, I will be heading into the match that I have only dreamed of. But this time, it won’t be a dream when I win the World Title... it will finally be a reality.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “I haven’t really heard from Shawn Michaels, so would you like to say something to him?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Where has Shawn been? Why hasn’t he been cutting promos left and right like everybody else? Has fear shut him up? Is it a remembrance of the night I beat him that has been keeping him quiet? Where ever the hell he is, one thing is for damn sure... he better show up ready tomorrow night, cause I will be there more ready than ever.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Earlier this week, you made a statement declaring HBK has the tougher opponent in the match... do you believe the same thing?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “That is what I thought at the time. I thought that at Wrestlemania Shawn would make a big comeback as the original Heart Break Kid... but as time goes on, there has been no sign of him. So I am beginning to think that he can’t take all the pressure anymore. I am starting to agree with those calling him a has been. Shawn, you say you are the Show Stoppa... but how can you stop the show when you don’t even show up? The Icon... is that what you call yourself... well, what kind of icon are you when you go into hiding before the biggest match of your career. The Main Eventer... yeah, you’re in the main event because you were put there... plain and simple. You didn’t earn a damn thing. So there... I have just proved that your little nicknames dont’t mean anything. But do you mean anything, Shawn. Are you still that Shawn Michaels you used to be? You say that flame still burns deep down... but I think it’s too deep... too far gone. We will see... very soon...”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Moving on to your other opponent... Triple H. What do you think about his odds in this match?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I said this when I first fought him and it is the most apparent right now... he is too concerned with Stephanie to win a World Heavyweight Championship Title match. He is off chasing down whoever kidnapped her, not worrying what will go down in just 24 hours. I, on the other hand, have all my attention on the goal at hand... not my girlfriend. If you want to have a girlfriend, that’s fine, Triple H, but never ever let your relationship interfere with a match like this. Triple H probably hasn’t even took the time to sit down and think about it like I have.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “You said you don’t feel that Shawn Michaels has earned this title shot... do you think Triple H has?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Hell no! Coach, do you know Triple H’s record? It’s 1-7... that’s seven losses... one win. With a record like that, Shane just gives him a title shot? I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, I had to win the Royal Rumble for my shot. I am 20-9-1... but I still had to win the Rumble.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Triple H said that you entered at #30...”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I don’t know what Triple H is smoking, but I entered the Rumble at #16... not #30. There’s quite a big difference. Sure, 15 guys entered before me, but most were still remaining when I got out there. Among the remaining men was Kane, a monster who vowed to win. I eliminated Kane... I eliminated the seven foot tall monster. So, Triple H, you want to talk about being ‘The Game’... let’s talk about it. Your definition of the Game sounds quite good... too bad it doesn’t fit you. You haven’t done a single thing while here in the WWE and that’s the way it’s going to stay.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Triple H has said that you worked hard for two months straight for this chance... but he will crush your dreams. What do you think?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Crush my dreams? Triple H, they used to be dreams... back when I was starting out. I would dream of main eventing the biggest pay-per-view of all time. But they’re not dreams anymore. Now they are a reality. I will win at Wrestlemania... I’m not telling you anything but the truth. I guess the truth does hurt. And so will you.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Triple H has said that you beating him twice doesn’t mean a damn thing... does it?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Heh, I suppose when I win at Wrestlemania, Triple H will say it doesn’t mean a damn thing either. Triple H, the fact is I hold two wins over you now. How can you have as much confidence as you do knowing that you failed on two separate occasions? I know that those two loses are eating away at you. You are trying to brush them off, but they don’t come off that easy. You are starting to doubt yourself, thinking, if I beat you twice, what’s stopping a third victory. Let me answer that, nothing.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Triple H has also stated that he’s sick of all the WcW crap. That it all meant nothing.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “WcW meant nothing? Well, it’s that’s what you think then so be it. But you can’t just say that all my hype means nothing. I know that every time you walk into a building, Triple H, you hear my name... you hear Da Man... you hear the hype. You try to ignore it, but it keeps coming back like a little lost puppy trying to find its way. Then you decide to listen to it, but you are not going to believe it, no way... no how. Triple H, I am warning you... BELIEVE THE HYPE!”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Triple H said that he proved himself when he went up against Shane Douglas and lost by DQ...”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Heh, Triple H, you want to mention going toe-to-toe with ‘The Franchise’ Shane Douglas... proving yourself is having Douglas beat, but getting screwed out of the win by your boss, Shane McMahon. That is proving yourself. Proving yourself is winning the Royal Rumble by defeating 29 other men. That is proving yourself. Proving yourself is winning the World Title by defeating two other men at the biggest event in history, Wrestlemania. That is proving yourself and that is the last and final step in proving myself once and for all.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “So now do you think Triple H is the tougher opponent between him and Shawn Michaels?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah, I’m starting to think that. Triple H has at least taken time to acknowledge the match unlike Shawn. I can tell that this won’t be quick and simple 1...2...3. This won’t be a clean match... blood will be shed. I can tell that. But I can also tell that one way or another, I will be walking out with the title around my waist. And that’s all there is to it.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Oh yeah... I just remembered. Triple H said that now that you called his soon-to-be wife, Stephanie McMahon, a slut you will truly pay. Are you scared?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Heh, am I scared? Am I scared because I said what was on each and every guy’s mind backstage? Am I scared because I spoke the truth? Am I scared because The Game is after me now? Nope. You want to come after me, Triple H, just try it. Just try to come and attack me. Cause if you do, the game will be ending a lot sooner. I promise you that.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Last question... what are your plans after Wrestlemania, if you are the World Heavyweight Champion?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “My plans are to defend that title against everybody back in that locker room. I don’t care if it’s Triple H, or Shawn Michaels, or Kurt Angle, or Rey Mysterio, or the Big Show. The fact of the matter is that I will try and beat everybody. But first, I have to win the belt, Coach.”

Goldberg takes a deep breath, thinking about Wrestlemania. Then he walks away leaving Coach behind as the scene fades to black...
