Scene 1 ~ Fear, Mind Games, and Doubt...
The scene opens up at the arena in which the King of the Ring pay-per-view with take place. The stage crew is here setting up the stage and the ring. Meanwhile backstage, Coach is roaming the halls as he walks by a locker room door labeled The Supremacy. He thinks nothing of it and keeps walking. However, as he continues roaming he walks by another locker room door only this one is labeled GOLDBERG. Curiously, he knocks on the door. The door flings open as Goldberg walks out in his casual attire, black jeans and a black t-shirt. He carries the World title in his hand.
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “What’s that all about?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “What’s what all about?”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “The locker room thing! You have a separate locker room now?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Yeah, that’s what it appears.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Since when?!”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Since the day that Brock trash talked me.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Ohhh, I get it. Are you busy? How about an interview?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Fine. But make it quick...”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “First of all, how do you feel about the whole Supremacy falling apart situation?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Well, Coach, we’re not really falling apart. We’re just getting rid of the weak link among us, if you know what I mean. When we first started the Supremacy, we said that we would always stick together and remain united. Together we are much stronger than we would be alone. We all realize this and that’s why we are going to make this work.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “I hope so. But what about Brock? Is he included in this we?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “I have no idea what’s going to happen with Brock, Coach. He just needs to keep his nose out of my business and we’ll be just fine. But I don’t see how he can when he has already said so much. What’s done is done, Coach. I gave Brock his chance, but the first chance he got, he decided to backstab me and try to take my title... and that just can’t happen. I am the World Heavyweight Champion and Brock is just going to have to realize this.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Brock has said he will do anything to win that title... are you willing to do the same to retain it?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Every title match I say the exact same thing. It’s the truth. This title is my life so I just figure that I would put my life on the line... what have I got to lose? I will do what’s necessary to retain my title, no questions asked. If that results in Brock going to the hospital, then so be it. If that results in myself going to the hospital, then so be it, too. I don’t care what I have to do, I will walk out with my World title still wrapped around my waist and there’s nothing more to it.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Can there be friendship after this match?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “I don’t see how, Coach. Brock has clearly made it obvious that he just wants this title... nothing more. So, all I can say is bring it, Brock. If he thinks he has what it takes to beat me, then let’s see him try. I want to see Brock cover me for a three count once again. That SMACKDOWN! match that he beat me shouldn’t have even counted... I let him beat me! But no more freebies, Brock. It’s time you earn what you get. But you won’t earn a damn thing except a first class ticket to a hospital bed.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “In your opinion, does Brock realize what’s in store for him?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Brock has absolutely no clue what is in store for him. Have you ever felt blood trickle down your forehead, Brock? There’s no other feeling like it. And have you ever tasted your own blood, Brock? There’s no other taste like it. Some like it, Brock... it gives them a sense of power... a sense of aggression. Brock, I promise you that you have never felt any kind of pain that could relate to what you will feel tomorrow night at the King of the Ring. When my adrenaline starts pumping, I lose control, Brock. I do what I want and I show no mercy... no remorse... and no forgiveness. I will not be responsible for what happens, Brock... you will be. You will be responsible because you are the one willing to walk into this match. You are the one who is egging me on, Brock. You are the one who is asking for it.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “What do you think of Brock’s finishing maneuver, the F5?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “I must admit, the F5 is a very powerful move. It’s known for taking down the biggest and most powerful superstars. But it won’t take down me, Brock. I have received F5’s before and I know the one way to reverse it. I learned a lot from our match on SMACKDOWN!, and I learned the typical Brock moves. But none of your moves even come close to the devastating Spear or the horrific Jackhammer. Those two moves will be used to finish you off, Brock. They will be used to retain my World Title. They will be the last moves that you feel before your opportunity of a lifetime is over. I hope when you’re in the hospital, and you try to remember back to our match, I hope you remember how the Spear and the Jackhammer felt as you got nailed to the canvas mat. I hope you remember the sound of the referee’s palm slapping that very same mat three times. I hope you remember the sound of my music playing as the announcer declares me as the winner. I hope you remember at least something, Brock.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “What do you think of Brock’s clever agent, Caleb Horton?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “It’s a good thing that Brock has some kind of intelligence behind him, otherwise Brock would be absolutely useless. Caleb, you can try to devise all the plans that you want to, but the fact remains that no plan will work tomorrow night. I don’t care if you plan to drop a two ton anvil on me... you will not stop me from beating Brock from pillar to post. And if you try to interfere, Caleb, then you might as well take a gun to your head and pull the trigger... at least it would be quick. Because if you do interfere, Caleb, mark my words... I will hunt you down and I will gut you like a fish. That’s right, Caleb... so use that clever little brain of yours and you tell me if you have the balls to lay one finger on me.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “If Brock did happen to win tomorrow night, what would become of Bill Goldberg?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Well, it’s really no use talking about it since there is no chance of it happening. But since you asked, I would not fade out like so many champions of the past have. I would accept my defeat and I would move on. I would realize that Brock is exactly what he has been saying and I would accept that. But the fact is that he is not everything that he has been saying. All Brock is doing is trying to convince himself that he will win. Brock is trying to persuade his mind that he might actually win. Well, Brock, it’s no use because you won’t win. I know it, the fans know it, Caleb Horton knows it and even Brock Lesnar knows it. The real question is what will happen to Brock Lesnar once I defeat him tomorrow night? Will he be physically unable to wrestle again? Or maybe he just won’t want to wrestle again? Or maybe he will continue to be a thorn in my side by challenging me again. But like I said before, Brock, you have been give a chance of a lifetime... so you only get one chance. So make good use of it.”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “There have been many speculations that since Judgment Day, the day that you turned your back on the fans, you would not be as good as a wrestler as you were with the fans on your side. So tonight is your final chance to prove that you are better off without them...”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “That’s right, Coach. But I didn’t turn my back on the fans, they turned their backs on me. They deserted me when I needed them most. They were there when I had the World title, but the second I lost it, where were they? I am definitely better off without them and I will prove that for the last time when I defeat Brock...1...2...3! I can’t wait until the day that the fans come crawling back to me, wanting to me to be Mr. Fan Favorite again. Well, that time is long gone. When the fans come crawling back, I will spit in their faces. I will tell them that it is over... and now I am concerned with more important things like this World Heavyweight title and the Supremacy!”
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “Anything else you would like to add? Anything at all?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Brock Lesnar, you’re at the time when the fear begins to sink in. We’re just twenty four hours away from the big match and Brock has just received that feeling deep down in his stomach. That feeling is called fear, Brock. It’s okay to have it, all my other opponents get it, too. Hell, it’s perfectly normal when you are facing Da Man. And along with that feeling of fear, comes the mind games. Brock’s mind is running rampant with thoughts about losing... Brock is beginning to doubt himself... and he should. Brock needs to realize that this is the real world, not some fantasy Brock Lesnar world anymore. Now Brock is playing with the big boys and he needs to sit down and wait his turn to shine. That turn hasn’t come up yet, Brock. And it won’t come up as long as I’m here. What can you do, Brock? What can you do about the fear, the mind games, the doubt? The only thing left that you can do is to take it like a man. Maybe next time you will believe all that hype. Brock, you’re standing on the tracks and the train is coming through...”
With that said, Goldberg walks back into his locker room, slamming the door behind him. Coach shrugs to the cameraman as the scene fades to black...
