Scene 1 ~ Last Chance, Brock...
The scene opens up as Late Night with Conan O’Brien returns from a commercial break. Goldberg is still seated next to Conan’s desk, ready to continue the interview.
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “In case you’re just tuning in, this is the World Heavyweight Champion, Bill Goldberg, and we have just been talking about how Goldberg will kick Brock Lesnar’s ass this Sunday at the King of the Ring.”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Heh, damn right.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “So anyway, there is kind of this rumor going around that is saying that you are only capable of holding that World Heavyweight Title for one month at a time since that was how long your first reign lasted. What do you think about this?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Well, like you said it’s just a rumor... it’s not a fact. So when I lose to Brock this Sunday, then you can think what you want. But the real fact is I won’t lose to Brock. I will prove that rumor to be nothing more than a rumor. Before every big match like this one, rumors always run rampant, but rumors are about as factual as the internet! I’m willing to bet that Brock made up half those rumors just to try to convince both himself and everybody else that he actually has a chance at surviving in this match.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “Are you at all worried about Caleb Horton getting involved in this match?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “I’m not worried about him because if he does decide to interfere in any way, shape, or form, I will not hesitate to beat his ass down along with Brock’s. But Caleb is a businessman so he should realize the risk he would be making if he did decide to help out Brock. First of all, it could result in a disqualification, meaning that I would automatically retain my title. Secondly, if Caleb does happen to get involved, like I said before, I will hunt him down and wish he was never born... and if you don’t believe, then do it, Caleb... try to cost me the match. I am dead serious when I say that a smart man wouldn’t even accompany Brock to the ring this Sunday night.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “I wouldn’t if I was Caleb. But what about the rest of the Supremacy. It’s obvious that you don’t like Brock and Brock doesn’t like you, so where do you think the Supremacy will go... to your side or to Brock’s?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “I really don’t know where the Supremacy would go. There’s definitely been some tension in the Supremacy locker room. Lizzy and Triple H have fought, which has led to arguments between Triple H and his wife, Stephanie. With all this fighting going on amongst us, I wasn’t even notified that Brock was joining. So I definitely feel like an outsider in the faction right now. But out of anyone, the Supremacy, especially Triple H, know exactly what I am capable of doing and they know that I will defeat Brock this Sunday. But I don’t want any of this screwing over, if the Supremacy are going to ditch me then I want them to come up to me and tell me face to face.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “Are any superstars backstage predicting you to lose your title this Sunday night at the King of the Ring?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “I’m sure they are, Conan. Nobody has come up to me face to face and told me, but it’s obvious that some people want me to lose. Perhaps it’s because they know that they can’t beat me and they have a better shot at beating Brock. I really don’t know, but what really gets me is when people like Triple H say that they will be fighting either me or Brock... there is no or Brock. When I have beaten Triple H four times and have teamed with him, I expect him to know what I am capable of doing and I expect him to know that I will not lose my title to Brock. This title is staying right where it belongs, around my waist.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “Brock has said, and I quote, ‘all the luck in the world will not save you’... What is your response to that statement made by Brock Lesnar a few days ago?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “You know what, Brock, I don’t need luck to beat you. Hell, I don’t even have luck. Luck is the type of thing that happens when a guy waltzes back into the WWE and beats the World Heavyweight Champion... that’s luck. Yeah, Brock, you may have gotten lucky when you barely defeated me on SMACKDOWN!, but all your luck has now run out. Come Sunday at the King of the Ring, there is no more luck... therefore there is no more World Title shots for Brock Lesnar. That’s right, Brock, when I humiliate you in that ring in front of 30,000 people and millions watching at home, you will not receive another title shot simply because you don’t deserve one.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “What do you think about all the trash talk that Brock has been talking?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “I think Brock needs to shut his mouth until he proves to me that he can back it up. One victory does not mean one damn thing in the WWE... unless it’s for the World Title, which it wasn’t. Brock, you have had one match... one match and already you’re talking like you’re one of the most feared men to ever grace that ring. Brock, you are nothing. You think you’re something special, don’t you? Well, listen to this, Brock... I have fought bigger and better guys than the mighty Brock Lesnar and those guys have crumbled at my hands. Brock, when you have fought in over forty matches, then you can afford to think you’re something special. But you aren’t, Brock. I have seen guys just like Brock Lesnar who have walked into the WWE, thinking that they were hot shit, but when they went against the best, they came up short... they couldn’t do a damn thing, but sit there and take the beating that was being dealt out. And that, Brock Lesnar, is what you will have to do. At the King of the Ring, you will have no choice but to take the beating. You can try to fight back, but it won’t be worth it. At the King of the Ring, I will make Brock special... Brock will be put in the hall of fame for the shortest career ever!”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “You seem to mention your title a lot... exactly how much does this title mean to you?”
Goldberg picks up his World Heavyweight Title off the floor and sets it in his lap, staring at it.
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Conan, this title is my life. Without it, I am miserable. Without this title, I have a thirst that I cannot quench... a hunger that I cannot feed... and without this title, I am no different than other those other superstars in the backstage like Brock Lesnar. This title is what sets me apart from those other superstars... this title is the thing that shows who the number one man in the WWE is... and this title gives you the confidence to walk into that ring each and every night and prove why you hold that title. I first won this title earlier this year at Wrestlemania... that was the greatest moment of my life... when I Jackhammered Shawn Michaels and covered him for the three count, when that bell rang and I was handed my newly won title, it all was worth it.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “When you say it was all worth it, what do you mean by it?
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Everything... the hard work, the dedication, the sacrifice. Every ounce of pain that I suffered was worth that moment... the moment when I showed the world that I was capable of winning the title. To tell you the truth, before that match I was beginning to doubt myself. I was worried that everything I have ever accomplished would just be thrown away if I lost that match... winning the Royal Rumble and everything. But I kept my confidence up and I did exactly what I said I would do. When I won that title, I regained all the confidence in the world. Matter of fact, I felt like I was on top of the world... looking down at all my challengers, eager to take my newly won prize.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “And the first challengers you had was Triple H and Chris Jericho...”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Yeah, that’s correct. So fast-forward a month to Backlash... perhaps one of the worst moments of my life. The night that I lost that prize... the night I felt like I had lost my life. At Backlash, I had lost everything... my title and my fans.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “The fans seemed to like you just the same.”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “No... that was the night they turned on me. So anyway, I worked hard and got a rematch at Judgment Day, which turned out to be another one of the best moments of my career. I not only regained my title, but I struck back at the fans when I joined the Supremacy. And so, here I am... the current World Champion.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “So Shane McMahon tried to break up the Supremacy by pitting you against Brock?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Yeah, that’s what he tried to do. But it was Brock that turned on me... it was Brock who broke up the Supremacy. Brock is the one who decided to trash talk me, and so he leaves me no choice but to decimate him this Sunday at the King of the Ring.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “But on SMACKDOWN! one week ago, when Brock defeated you, you seemed to be injured badly. However, when he was announced as the newest member of the Supremacy, you jumped up. Were you faking injury?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Heh, yeah I was. That was just to crush the fans’ hopes of seeing me injured... cause I know that they want nothing more than to see me hospitalized. But that was all before Brock decided to go into this title match. When I heard Brock was accepted as the newest member, I thought maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. But Brock has clearly made it obvious that we cannot co-exist in the same faction without destroying each other first. Brock, we could have just simply ignored each other, but no, that wasn’t enough for you... you had to go after me and my World Heavyweight Title. And when you go after my title, then you are no friend of mine. So Brock, be careful what you ask for. You want me and my title... then you’ll get me and my title this Sunday... only you won’t be walking away with the title. Hell, I’d be surprised if you can even walk away. And it’s too bad that you won’t be able to watch me celebrate with the Supremacy when I defeat you... but don’t worry, I’ll send a tape of it to the hospital.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “Are you mad at Shane McMahon for setting up this match?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Not really... to tell you the truth, I honestly thought Shane was smarter than that. No matter what, the World Title will remain in the Supremacy’s hands... or should I say my hands. So, I’m not sure if Shane just wanted myself and Brock to turn on each other, but it was bound to happen anyway. Brock has too much of an ego to ever be in the same faction as myself. He thinks he is better than the whole Supremacy put together... Brock, do you realize what the Supremacy really is? We are the supreme superstars of the WWE... but not you, Brock. You don’t belong with us. We are in an entirely different league than you. And yet, you still seem to selfishly want everything for your self. You want me, Brock? Well, you got me... but get ready, cause I’m coming for you! I’m sure you’re thinking that I’ll be an easy win since you were able to defeat me once, but believe me, Brock, it won’t be so easy this time. You see, this time the stakes have been raised. Now, it’s not just for bragging rights, Brock... it’s for this World Heavyweight Title.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “If Brock did happen to win, what kind of champion do you think Brock would be?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Not a very good one. You see, Conan, it takes a lot to win the World Heavyweight Title. But it takes even more to be a good champion. The minute you win this title, you feel a weight put on you. The moment that you are handed this title, everybody now looks at you. You now have the single largest target on your chest. It’s a lot of pressure to tell you the truth. Every step I make, every word I speak, and every breath I take, somebody is watching... watching for any kind of edge that could get them this title. I don’t think Brock would be able to handle all the pressure of being a champion. He would get too caught up and soon he would just collapse. But not me... you see, I was born to be the World Heavyweight Champion. I can handle these pressures and the challengers. I can handle it all. I can handle the big target on my chest. Unlike Brock, I can handle being a good World Heavyweight Champion.”
| ‘Late Night’s King of Cool’ Conan O’Brien | “Well, that about wraps up this interview. Is there anything else you would like to say?”
| ‘Da Champ’ Goldberg | “Yeah... Brock, like I said before, your time is running out... tick tock, tick tock. I want you to bask in all this attention you’re getting, because it will not last much longer. You are not cut out to be the leader of the WWE and it’s time you realize this. It’s also time that you realize that you are either with me or against me... but it’s too late. You have clearly already chosen your path... against me. So beware... come Sunday night, I will not hold back, Brock. I will push you to the limit... hell, I will push you beyond the limit. If you think I am wrestling you to beat you, you’re wrong. I am wrestling you to make an example... an example of what happens when you mess with Da Man. I will not beat you up until I am able to get the three count... oh no, no, no. You see, Brock, I will beat you up until you are no longer physically able to compete... I will beat you up until you beg me to pin you and end the massacre. This is your warning, Brock... so don’t say I didn’t warn you. You still have a chance to get out of the match, Brock... you don’t have to go through this. But I know you will because you are no different than any of my other opponents, thinking they will beat me. Ha, just ask those opponents and they will tell you they wish they never went into the match in the first place. So, Brock, heh, heh, heh.... get ready, my friend. You’re in for a ride... a wild ride. Get ready, Brock, cause YOU’RE NEXT!!!”
Goldberg stares into the camera as Conan thanks Goldberg for coming by. The scene fades to a commercial break...
