" A True Test "
Goldberg has done it... by beating two men at the same time this past Monday night, he has proved that he still has it. He has proved that he is currently just as powerful as he was back when he was the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. He has proved that he is still the single most dominant superstar to ever grace the WIW... or has he? For a new power has emerged... a power who claims to be unstoppable... a power who claims to be the one man who can finally end Da Man. Two giants with just as big egos will lock up to once and for all end the dispute of who is truly unstoppable.
Scene 1
" Payback is a Bitch! "
The scene opens up on the streets on Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The street is filled with people going to work and such. Among these people is WIW superstar, Goldberg. Goldberg is walking down the sidewalk when something from the front window of a shop catches his eye. He stops and looks at a TV inside the window. The TV shows a commercial for Heat Wave, the WIW pay-per-view this Sunday. The commercial hypes up several matches before it shows what happened last week on Xplosion...
Goldberg nails the spear on both Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope at the same time. Surprisingly, the crowd erupts into cheers as Goldberg covers both men for the three count. Goldberg is announced as the winner when unfamiliar music hits. Eric Bischoff walks out, much to the surprise of Da Man.
| ‘Xplosion GM’ Eric Bischoff | “Well, well, Goldy… we meet again. Now, I know you’re puzzled why I am here… but I just wanted to announce something, that I’m sure you’ll be pleased. Now, since you lost your title at War Games… you don’t have a match for Heat Wave, right? But, I have got something for you… oh, if you would just turn around, you’ll see who you’re facing."
Eric smirks as Goldberg slowly turns around as he is hit with a huge knee to the gut from the 6’5”, 317 lbs., demon known as Batista. Batista quickly hits the Sit-Out Powerbomb, laying out Da Man. Batista gets up and taunts Goldberg as Eric laughs.
| ‘Xplosion GM’ Eric Bischoff | “Now, I know Batista likes matches to be… a little more interesting, so I’ll do you guys both a favor… it’s… going to be Batista versus Goldberg! And not just an ordinary singles match… it’s going to be Batista versus Goldberg in a Steel Cage match!”
Goldberg continues to watch angrily as Batista shows a sadistic smile.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah, laugh it up while you still have the chance, Batista. ‘Cause I promise you, there will be nothing funny about what I do to you at Heat Wave. Let me teach you a lesson, Batista, about history. When people mess with me... I pay them back, plain and simple. Only, I pay them back ten times worse than what they did to me. Take Triple H for example, he took my World Heavyweight title at Backlash and then one month later, I kicked his ass and I took my title right back. But don’t get me wrong, Dave, I am glad that you attacked me. ‘Cause I now have a reason to beat your ass. That reason is payback... and now everything I do, I think about that payback. Payback is a bitch, Batista, and soon you will find out what it’s like to be that bitch!”
Goldberg, snapping out of his trance, turns away from the TV and continues walking as the scene fades...
Scene 2
" Ultimate Betrayal "
The scene opens back up just about twenty four hours before Heat Wave. Goldberg is seen walking down the hallway of the Skydome in Toronto. A backstage worker walks by as Goldberg briefly stops to ask a question.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Hey, have you seen any interviewers around? I have a few things I need to say...”
| ‘Backstage Worker’ Ted | “I’m sorry, but I haven’t... wait, come to think of it, I do remember seeing Coach earlier today...”
Just then Coach walks around the corner, having heard his name. He walks up to Goldberg as the backstage worker, Ted, walks away.
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “What makes you think I even want to interview you, Goldy?”
Goldberg looks at Coach with a puzzled look.
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “I saw Xplosion... I was watching when you speared the Insane Clown Posse and the fans cheered you on... and I was watching when you accepted those cheers with open arms.”
Goldberg stares at Coach, not saying a word. Coach looks at Goldberg before spitting right in Goldberg’s face.
| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach | “I thought you had changed, Goldy. Not only have you betrayed your friends... friends like Triple H... but you betrayed yourself. And that, Goldy, is the ultimate betrayal. ’Cause obviously you’re still the fans little bitch!”
Coach pushes his way past a silent Goldberg as he looks at the ground. The scene slowly fades out...
Scene 3
" Scary Promos... "
Just a few minutes after the shocking scene with Coach and Goldberg, Goldberg is seen in his locker room. Goldberg appears to be deep in thought as a faint knock is heard at the opened door. Goldberg raises his head to find Josh Matthews standing in the doorway.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “What the hell do you want?”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “I heard you wanted an interview. And I just wanted to say I’m sorry about Coach. He can be a real asshole sometimes.”
Goldberg gets up and walks over to Josh.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I could care less about what Coach thinks. He’s lucky I didn’t break his skinny little body in half. I don’t need your pity, Josh. Just let’s get this damn interview over with.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “Alright. First of all, what do you think about Triple H injuring his spine? His career as we know it may be over...”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Things happen, Josh. You can’t control them. Shit happens. In a sport like professional wrestling, you can’t let injuries stand in your way. When I go out there tomorrow night at Heat Wave and injure Batista, I won’t feel one bit bad about it. This is what we get paid to do, Josh. It’s unfortunate that Triple H had to get hurt now, but hey, what can you do about it? What’s done is done. But I will tell you this... come Sunday night, when I beat Batista at Heat Wave, it will be for Triple H.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “Are you mad that you didn’t get your World Tag Team title shot?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, technically, I should still get that title shot, Josh. After all, the match last week on Xplosion was to determine the number one contender to the tag team titles... and I won. But I have bigger fish to fry then the tag team champions... somebody by the name of Batista.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “Before we get into that, what do you think of your former boss, Eric Bischoff, becoming the brand new Xplosion GM?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Many people think Bischoff is a smart man. But he proved that he obviously isn’t the minute that he stepped foot in my path. Bischoff is the one I can thank for the attack from behind. He is the one that set up this whole match between myself and Batista. Eric, after I get done with Batista, you better watch your ass... cause you just may be NEXT!”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “Alright. And what is your response to Lizzy Borden receiving a World Heavyweight title shot?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, I don’t like Lizzy. I never have and I never will. But I really hope she humiliates the Texas Rattlesnake and I hope she takes his title... my title. You see, Josh, that title still is mine. I was screwed out of it and I never received a rematch. Why? Because Stone Cold knows that if the opportunity have came where I challenged him for the title... he knows that he wouldn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell at retaining it. To tell you the truth, Josh, I hope Austin and Lizzy just beat the hell out of each other... they deserve nothing less.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “Moving on to the real reason why this interview is happening... Batista. First of all, what do you think about Batista attacking you on Xplosion and marking you to be the first person he defeats?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Two words... bad idea. Obviously Batista does not know what... or who the hell he is dealing with. He has marked me to be the first one he defeats? More like he has marked himself... that’s right that moment that he laid a finger on me, he marked himself... he marked himself to be next. He can sit there and talk about his power and brute strength but it means nothing. I have proven the kind of power I possess and no man... and no demon will ever match up to myself. Batista thinks that the devil itself planted genes in him? I think the steroids Batista is on are messing up his head. Or maybe the devil put the steroids in him? Heh, come Sunday, it won’t matter what the devil has done to Batista... Batista will not stand a chance.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “How did the Batista Bomb feel compared to moves such as the, uh... the Stone Cold Stunner... or the Pedigree?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I won’t lie to you, Josh, it hurt... it hurt like a bitch. But if he thinks giving me a Batista Bomb will ensure him the victory, he needs to rethink he strategy. It hurt, but I guaran-damn-tee that he will need to do a lot more than just Batista Bomb me in order to climb out of that cage. On the other hand, Batista has yet to feel the Spear or the Jackhammer. He has no clue... no clue whatsoever about what he is in store for... he has no clue what kind of pain awaits him the second after I execute either one of those moves. Batista, do you know what my opponents have said the Spear feels like? They say it feels like you’ve just been in a train wreck. It feels like your upper body has been disconnected from your lower... and just when you think it couldn’t get any worse... it does. For then you are lifted high above everyone’s heads as the blood rushes down to your own head. I hold you there for several seconds before driving you down for your final plunge. I hook the leg and boom... the match is over. But in this case, I won’t need to hook the leg. All I have to do is escape the cage.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “Speaking of the cage, the match in fact will be a cage match. There will be a steel cage surrounding the ring and the first...”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know the rules. The first person to escape the cage, whether it’s exiting out the cage door or climbing over the cage wall, the first person to escape is the winner. But make no mistake about it, that winner will be me.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “Are you at all intimidated by the steel cage match?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Josh, it was just about a month ago that I fought in a Hell in a Cell against Kurt Angle... and I won that. I wasn’t intimidated by the Cell and I sure as hell am not intimidated by the cage. Matter of fact, I am not intimidated by the demon, Batista or his little helper, Ric Flair. I am ready for this match up, Josh, and I am not about to let a little thing like intimidation stand in my way to victory.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “As proven by many cage matches in the past, the cage itself can be used as a weapon. Do you plan on using the cage to your advantage?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I really don’t need to use the cage as a weapon... I got all the power I need to win right here. But if it means that I will inflict more pain... more agony... more torture... then by all means, yes, Josh, I just might use the cage to my advantage.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “Are you worried about Ric Flair interfering to help Batista?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Like you said, Josh, the steel cage is used as a barrier and as a weapon. It keeps the competitors inside the cage and the interference outside. Well, that’s what it is supposed to do. It’s supposed to trap the competitors inside the ring so that there’s no place either one can go and there’s no chance of somebody helping one of the competitors. But, from past cage matches, we have seen that interference in a cage match is becoming a common thing. Whether it’s slamming the cage door into one of the competitors head... or sliding a chair to help one competitor, there will always be interference. But I’m not worried about Ric Flair cheating me out of a win...”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “How can you not be... after all, Ric Flair is The Dirtiest Player in the Game!”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Heh, that’s right, Josh, he is. But if Ric has any amount of brains, he will know to stay clear of my path. My target isn’t set on Flair... it’s set on Batista. And if Flair wants to remain without a target on his head, he better think twice before coming down to the ring with Batista. But even if Flair does decide to interfere, I can take both Batista and Flair. They are two men... hell, I defeated two men last Monday night on Xplosion. And, if I have to, I will do it again at Heat Wave!”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “A couple days ago, Flair called you washed up. What do you think about that?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Heh, that’s really funny. Being called washed up by a fifty-five year old wrestler who can hardly even finish a match. Flair, I think you should be more concerned about your own career rather than mine. Look at my achievements, Flair, I’m doing just fine. You want to call me washed up? Well, I can’t wait to see the look on your face when this washed up ass beats the young Batista. Wait... how old is Batista?”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “I believe he turned thirty-five this year.”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Heh, I’m thirty-seven and I have accomplished so much more than Batista. So being a has been is a hell of a lot better than being a never was and never will be.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “What do you think about Flair and Batista’s relationship?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “It’s actually quite sickening, Josh. I mean, aren’t they a little too old to be holding hands wherever they go? Batista says Flair is the man... Flair says Batista is the man. Well, fellas, you’re both wrong... I’m Da Man! I’m really getting nervous every time I watch and Flair and Batista segment. One of these days, they might just lose their composure and start making out. Ugh!”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “That would be pretty sick. But what do you think Batista’s real motive was as to why he attacked you?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, he’s saying it’s because he felt like it. Yeah, right. He knew who the biggest and best superstar in the WIW was and so he decided to try and make a name for himself by attacking the very best. He is using me to become a house-hold name. Don’t worry, Batista, soon you will be famous... famous for being just another victim of Da Man!”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “Do you really feel like people fear Batista? Or is he blowing this whole fear thing out of proportion?”
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I really don’t think anybody fears Batista. What is there to fear about him? His big muscles? Maybe. His scary tattoos? Perhaps. His promos? Now those are scary. A thirty-five year old and a fifty-five year old practically making love! Look deep into my eyes and you will see the truth... you will see that there is not one ounce of fear in me. That‘s just the way it is and that‘s the way it will always be.”
| ‘Not Tough Enough’ Josh Matthews | “Well, we can take a break right there for now, Goldberg. That was just part one of the interview. I will come back in about ten minutes for the second part. Thanks.”
Goldberg nods his head in agreement as the scene fades to black...
