" A True Test "
Goldberg has done it... by beating two men at the same time this past Monday night, he has proved that he still has it. He has proved that he is currently just as powerful as he was back when he was the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. He has proved that he is still the single most dominant superstar to ever grace the WIW... or has he? For a new power has emerged... a power who claims to be unstoppable... a power who claims to be the one man who can finally end Da Man. Two giants with just as big egos will lock up to once and for all end the dispute of who is truly unstoppable.
Scene 1
" The Exorcist "
The scene opens in a workout room in a local training facility in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the city in which the WIW’s Heat Wave will happen. The camera focuses on a man who is benching. The man is benching a lot and appears to be lifting it with ease. After about ten reps, the man sets the bar back on the bench and sits up. The man is revealed to be none other than Bill Goldberg. Goldberg picks up a white towel off the ground and wipes the sweat off his forehead. He then picks up a bottle of water and squirts some into his dry mouth. He sets the bottle down and then looks up as he notices the camera. Goldberg looks directly into it as he begins to speak.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I suppose you want my reaction on what happened on Xplosion, huh? You want to know what I have to say about Batista attacking me from behind... is that right? Heh, Batista, if you’re watching, every single thing I have done in this weight room today, I have envisioned it as me inflicting more and more pain onto you. Each and every set... each and every rep... it all adds up to one thing... you’re defeat. I have been in this weight room for the whole day and I don’t plan on leaving just yet. Batista, you have answered my prayers. For I have been hoping and praying that I would finally be given another chance to prove myself once again. Sure, I did beat two men at the same time last Monday night... but they were a couple of clowns. But you, Batista, you on the other hand, claim to be a demon. You claim to be this unforgiving monster. I have waited for a challenge like this, Batista, I have waited for someone to step up to the plate. So I guess you could say this has been a blessing in disguise.”
Goldberg rises as he walks over to big punching bag hanging in the corner of the weight room. Goldberg nails the bag with a hard left punch and quickly follows up with a right. He stops and turns around as he looks at the camera.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Batista, you really think you are some sort of demon, don’t you? I mean, sure, you look the part... ripped full of muscles, tattoos covering your back. Well, Batista, if you really are some sort of demon, then I guess my part is that of the exorcist. I know you have trouble with big words, Batista, so let me explain. An exorcist is a person that gets rid of a demon and come this Sunday at Heat Wave, I will be disposing of the Demon in Disguise. Only this Sunday, unlike an exorcist, I won’t be reciting religious prayers to get rid of you... instead I will physically get rid of the demon. This Sunday, everyone will witness as I send the demonic Batista straight back to hell where he came from. Batista, the power of Christ doesn’t compel you... the power of Goldberg compels you!”
Goldberg turns away as he continues his brutal assault on the punching bag. After awhile, Goldberg adds kicks as the bag takes a beating. Then Goldberg turns around and faces the camera once again.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Batista, all this talk about your demonic actions and such doesn’t scare me... it doesn’t scare me one bit. You see, Dave, you can talk and talk and talk about how you are made to destroy people... but you proved anything yet. And quite frankly, you won’t prove anything until you can successfully defeat the best of the best... in other words, until you can defeat me. I don’t need to say a bunch of crap about how I was sent to annihilate people... I just do it. You want people to notice you, Dave... you want people to fear your very presence. But soon, the only person that will be in your presence is a grave digger. You sit in your locker room and you talk about how you will inflict pain and agony onto every superstar in the WIW... newsflash... been there, done that. I am the one who has dealt out all the pain. Where was Batista back when I beat twenty nine other men to win the Royal Rumble? Where was Batista when I won the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania? Where was he when I won it again at Judgment Day? You see, Batista, I have already accomplished more than you could ever imagine. You want me to hear your cry? Don’t worry, Dave, soon enough, the whole world will hear you cry.”
Goldberg walks over to a magazine rack by the wall. He looks through a couple magazines before picking up one and holding up it up to the camera.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Take a look at the WIW Magazine from a few months back. Read the title... the Unstoppable Force, Brock Lesnar.”
Goldberg throws the magazine at the camera.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Oh, how we forget so quickly. And yet, I still remember it like it was yesterday. A guy by the name of Brock Lesnar signs with the WIW and somehow manages to get a World Heavyweight title shot against me. What am I getting at? The fact is Brock Lesnar was the same as Dave Batista. He walks into this company thinking he is the best... that he will dominate every man here and then... boom... he faces Goldberg. He walked into this match saying the same things Batista is saying. And yet, I defeated Lesnar and sent him right back to where he came from. Matter of fact, Lesnar was even bigger than Batista and I still beat him. The fact is Batista, so many young, green superstars walk into here and think they have what it takes to hang with the big boys. But when they get their chance to back up all the crap they have been talking, they get humiliated.”
Goldberg picks up a few more Brock Lesnar magazines and holds them up to the camera.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “They are all the same. Articles talking about how big Brock Lesnar will be in the WIW.... columns on Brock’s incredible stats and accomplishments... pages and pages of the new phenomenon. But where is Brock now? He is sitting at home still nursing his wounds. Batista, hype. That’s all Brock Lesnar was and that’s all you are. You hype yourself up about you are this big menacing demon. But when it all comes down to it, you are nothing.”
Goldberg looks through a couple more magazines and pulls out another. Once again, he holds it up for the camera.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “You see, Batista, the writers of this magazine are asking who can tame the beast, Batista... but you haven’t even had a match yet. It was the same exact thing with Brock Lesnar.”
Goldberg turns his attention back to the magazine rack and pulls out another magazine. He looks at it before holding it up to the camera.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “This magazine was the same. Full of hype about myself. But this time it was different. This hype turned out to be true after all. Those same exact articles were written about me... declaring that I would be huge in years to come. It got so out of hand that people had expectations for me before I even set one foot inside that ring. But I surpassed those expectations. I proved that all the hype was so much more. That is why, Batista... that is why I tell each and every one of my opponents to believe the hype. It has become apparent that there are two kinds of hype... your kind of hype, the same kind Lesnar had... and then my kind of hype. Your hype is nothing but that. It is nothing but build-up that turns to be nothing more than a fluke. My kind of hype is a warning. It tells my opponents what they are in for when facing me. So, Batista, I will tell you this once and once more... BELIEVE THE HYPE!”
Goldberg sets the magazine back in the rack as he walks into the locker room just a few feet away. The cameraman follows as Goldberg sits on the wooden bench, head down.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Batista, I have been sitting back and watching... watching and listening to everything you do and say. You have the Nature Boy, Ric Flair, right at your side, filling you full of hope that one day you will make it big in the WIW. Ric has told you that he has passed the torch down to you. Well, heh, I got news for ya. That torch has been passed down for quite some time now... only, it was passed down to me. I am the one who leads the WIW, World Heavyweight title or not. Batista, do you want to know the real reason why Ric Flair his in your corner? He needs you, Batista. He needs you so that his name, not yours, will live on. Batista, I’m sure in your mind you actually think that Ric is telling you the truth. You actually think that Ric wants to teach you how to become the best... when in reality, Ric doesn’t know one thing about being the best.”
Goldberg pauses momentarily as his gaze fixes back on the camera.
| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “This Sunday at Heat Wave, everyone will witness Da Man doing exactly what he does best... kicking ass. Batista, you can try to convince everybody that you are an indestructible monster... but all the convincing in the world will not help. Everybody knows that deep down inside, you are exactly like Brock Lesnar... you are exactly like Kurt Angle... you are exactly like every single one of my opponents I have ever faced. You aren’t anything special, like you have been telling the world you are. You are nothing more than a cocky, over hyped, rookie. I will expose your weakness this Sunday... what’s your weakness? Too much confidence.”
Goldberg stands up, grabbing his WIW gym bag as he walks out the door. The scene slowly fades to black...
