" A Fighting Champion "

Fresh off a two match losing streak, Goldberg heads into Battle for the Gold with one goal in mind... retaining what’s rightfully his. Will Goldberg’s last two matches be a sign of things to come in the future for Da Man? Will the Docta of Thuganomics pull off the upset to defeat the Intercontinental Champion? Or will Goldberg bounce back and show everybody who the real champ is? Who will walk out of Battle for the Gold as the Intercontinental Champion? All these questions can only be answered at one place... at one time... in one match. The Intercontinental Champion defends the title against the Doctor of Thuganomics when Bill Goldberg takes on John Cena... Sunday, September 26, 2004... Live from the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon... AT&T presents WIW Battle for the Gold!

Scene 1
" One Hit and You’re Dead! "

The scene opens back up at the house show at the Sioux Falls Arena in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Goldberg is seen in his locker room, however he is now in his wrestling attire. Goldberg anxiously paces back and forth, apparently very pumped. Goldberg’s TV monitor is turned on, but the volume is very low. As Goldberg paces back and forth, something on the TV catches his eye. Goldberg stops abruptly, now focused on the TV. On the screen, John Cena is seen talking about Da Man.

| ‘Doctor of Thuganomics’ John Cena | “This Sunday Night, at Battle for the Gold, I, John Cena, the Doctor of Thugonomics, will battle to get gold around my waist. This Sunday, I battle Bill Goldberg, in what should be a very difficult match. A match I need to win. Because this match is for the Intercontinental Championship. And well, I don't know about the other guys in these locker rooms. But I am getting sick and tired of some of these current champions thinking they are too good that they can't be beat. And well, Goldberg is one of them. He has had that streak everyone talks about. He is one of the fan's favorite wrestlers. But he hasn't gotten in the ring with John Cena. This Sunday, we will collide, and we will find out who is the better man. The world will find out just how bad I want gold around my waist. You see, Bill Goldberg. You may think that just because I lost against Big Show, just because I have a losing record, it means that you will beat me. You think it means that I am just another opponent for you to take down and beat. Well, you better think again. It just means I want this win so much more than you do. And well, I will make sure I get this win. You see, I am not just going after you, but I am going after that Intercontinental Championship. I am not just going to defeat you, but I am going to take that title from you, one thing the other wrestlers you have faced could not do. Which means I will be better then those other wrestlers, and, Bill Goldberg, that will mean, that I am better than you! So, like you say to your opponents, Bill Goldberg, Your Next! You are next on my list of who I will defeat. And I am the next owner of that Intercontinental Championship. Oh, you don't think so... well, we will see. Yes, we will see!”

Goldberg continues to watch the segment for a few minutes. A loud knock is heard at the door as Goldberg keeps his eyes fixed on Cena. Goldberg walks over to the door and opens it to find the Coach standing outside.

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “What’s happenin’, Goldy?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Listen, I didn’t ask you to come here to make conversation. You know damn well that I asked you here for one thing and one thing only... John Cena.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “Ok, ok. No need to get all pissed.”

Coach walks in the room, shutting the door behind him. He then looks back at Goldberg.

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “First of all, how do you feel about the outcome of your match last Thursday on Impact?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “How the hell do you think I feel?! I lost the damn match because of one person... the Undertaker. ‘Taker, I warned you not to cost me the match, but you still did. When you come back from your injury, you can stand in line... stand in line to be next.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “So now Batista has beat you twice...”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Twice? No... Batista hasn’t even beat me once. He beat me twice in tag matches. Tag matches are a hell of a lot different than regular matches. Batista has never beat me in a one-on-one match and he never will. He can go around and run his mouth about how he has beaten me twice but everybody knows that he hasn’t changed anything. I am still better than him and that’s just a fact.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “What do you think of your former best friend, Triple H? He is now no longer a part of the Supremacy and after what went down on Impact, you two obviously aren’t seeing eye to eye.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Coach, Triple H was never my best friend. He used me to remain in the spotlight. He used Stephanie McMahon and most importantly, he used the Supremacy. I’m glad he is no longer a member of the Supremacy... ‘cause quite frankly, he’s not good enough to be apart of it. Last Thursday, I tried to eliminate the Game once and for all... but I let my guard down and Batista pinned the Undertaker. So Triple H, don’t forget our past. Don’t forget Judgment Day... the night I single handedly defeated you in a one-on-one match for the World Heavyweight title. Don’t forget, ‘cause it can happen again at any given time in the future. So if you are smart you will stay out of the Supremacy’s way... and if you were really smart, you would stay out of my way.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “Now moving on to the main topic at hand, John Cena. First of all, as I’m sure you’ve just seen, John Cena has been claiming that come Sunday, you will find out that he is the better man.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Coach, John Cena isn’t anything special. I’ve seen him in the ring and he should stick to rapping. He can sit there and tell the world that we will see how bad he wants the Intercontinental title... but it doesn’t matter how bad he wants it. The fact is that no matter what, Cena will not defeat me for this title.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “How much do you like the Intercontinental title? In the past, you have been noted for saying that you would much rather have the World Heavyweight title.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, who wouldn’t want the World Heavyweight title? But I have held that World title and I have proved that I am capable of defending it. But now I am the Intercontinental Champion. I admit that at first I didn’t think too much about the Intercontinental title, but over the past couple of weeks, I have grown fond of it. This title makes me one of the elite few superstars that currently holds gold. I am the ranked as the second best superstar in the WIW... just one behind the World Heavyweight Champion, Lizzy Borden. I am that high on the ranking because of one thing... the Intercontinental Championship. I am not about to lose it, Coach... especially to John Cena. What I am saying is that in my mind, this isn’t the Intercontinental title... it’s the World Heavyweight title. And I will do anything and everything in my power to retain it this Sunday at Battle for the Gold.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “This past Monday night on Xplosion, the Big Show defeated John Cena. However, a couple of short weeks ago, you defeated the Big Show for that very Intercontinental title that you currently hold. Does this give you any confidence heading into Sunday?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Even if Cena beat the Big Show, I would still have confidence. But it does boost my chances because of the fact that I beat the man who beat John Cena. Cena has vowed that the Big Show beating him will not affect his chances of winning, but it really does. And we will all find out at Battle for the Gold.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “How appropriate is the name Battle for the Gold for the pay-per-view this Sunday?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “It’s very appropriate. Many superstars will indeed be battling for the gold, be it the World, the Intercontinental, or even the Women’s. All the WIW titles will be on the line this Sunday and many wrestlers will be battling it out for them... either to retain the title or to win the title.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “After hearing what you said, John Cena said he is so unlike Vanilla Ice. What do you think about this?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “He says he’s so different from and him and yet, there are so many similarities. For one, they’re both white rappers. They’ve both had their fifteen seconds of fame and now it’s over...”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “Cena had his fifteen seconds of fame?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Yeah, people used to love him just like they loved Vanilla Ice. But that didn’t last long for either of them. Cena, come Sunday, it really won’t matter if you’re like Vanilla Ice. ‘Cause just like Vanilla Ice, after one hit, you’ll be dead!”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “Haha! That was a good one. I get it... hit like a good song and then hit like a punch!”

Goldberg stares at Coach, apparently not in a joking mood. Coach quickly stops laughing.

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “John Cena also said that losing streaks aren’t necessarily a bad thing. Do you agree?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Losing streaks aren’t a bad thing? Whoa, whoa, whoa. The last time I checked, losing streaks are one of the worst things that can happen to a superstar. Cena, you’re just trying to cover up for all your losses as of late. But since you seem to think that losing streaks aren’t a bad thing, then I will do you a favor and keep that losing streak of yours going.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “Cena said that he has just had bad luck but at Battle for the Gold, the bad luck will stop.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Believe me, Cena... you are truly underestimating me. You sit there and listen to people telling you that you will lose but in your little mind of yours, you still think you are better than me. The fact is you aren’t. You never were and you never will be. Cena, you say that people say that I am better than most people. But that‘s not true. Because I am better than all people... and that includes the Doctor of Thuganomics.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “Cena said that those people that think you will win really don’t know Cena.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Heh, Cena, they know you. And that’s exactly why they know I will win. You admitted it yourself... you’re in the middle of a losing streak. And it will not end anytime soon. You say that nobody has seen what you can really do... well, what are you waiting for, Cena? Since you can really do a lot more, then why didn’t you beat the Big Show? And on Monday night, I’ll be asking... why didn’t you beat Da Man?”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “Cena said that you have had the Intercontinental title for too long...”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Too long?! I won this belt just a few short weeks ago and if Cena is sick of my reign already, he better just get used to it... cause my reign as Intercontinental Champion is not going to end anytime soon. Cena says that this belt is getting to my head but in reality, it’s getting to Cena’s head. He is so blinded by the picture of himself holding this title that he does not even realize what is in store for him come Sunday. Cena has no idea what I am capable of and what I will do to retain this title. But soon enough, Cena will find out the hard way.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “John also said that you being in the Supremacy just means that you can’t defend yourself.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “I can’t defend myself?! I don’t need the Supremacy to defend me, Cena... that’s not what we’re about. We are a group of the best superstars to date. None of us need help with our opponents. But at Battle for the Gold, you will wish that you were in a faction... ‘cause you will be the one that needs help.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “Cena has been heard saying that he is indeed your biggest challenge yet. Do you think this is true?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Heh, as much as Cena thinks that he is some big threat to me, in reality, he isn’t. I have fought the very best, Cena, and I have beat the best. I have beat superstars that are better than you. I admit that this match will not just be a walk in the park... I know how bad Cena wants my title, but that doesn’t change the fact that he will not beat me for it.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “What do you think about John Cena dissing you in his raps?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Coach, those dumb little raps of Cena’s don’t affect me one bit. Cena can sit there and rhyme his ass off about how he will beat me, but he’s going to need to do a lot more than that in order to get the job done.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “John Cena said that he has been waiting for a chance to prove himself. In your opinion, is this a time to prove himself?”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Cena is waiting for a chance to prove himself?! What about the World Heavyweight title tournament? Cena was given a perfect chance to make an impact... but the fact is he didn’t. But now he is saying he has another chance. And what better way to make a name for himself than to beat a two-time World Heavyweight and current Intercontinental Champion? Cena, you have an opportunity of a lifetime to make a name for yourself in the WIW... all you have to do is beat me. But it’s definitely not as easy as it sounds. Coach, I’m sick of all these new superstars coming in and thinking they will beat me and make a name for themselves... Brock Lesnar, Batista, and now John Cena. They all thought they could beat me and become the best, but they didn’t even come close. But don’t let me talk you out of it, John... ‘cause after all, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for.”

| ‘Cocky Interviewer’ Coach’ | “Cena said that he will not lay down for you just because of all your hype.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Well, Coach, I’m glad he won’t lay down for me. I don’t want him to. I want a challenge... and whether Cena can provide one will be my main concern. Cena, I know you have been hearing about all my hype... about my streak, my title wins, and about my tenacity. You have been hearing people picking me to win in this match. Well, Cena, the only thing you can do is believe the hype. You need to realize that what the people are saying is true. You need to accept your fate, Cena... you need to accept the fact that you are... NEXT!!!”

Goldberg stares into the camera as if he were staring into the eyes of John Cena himself. Goldberg does not break eye contact... not even for a blink. Then Goldberg storms out of his locker room, slamming the door behind him on the way out. Coach looks surprised as the scene fades to black...

Scene 2
" I Can See You... "

The scene opens back up at the very same house show at the Sioux Falls Arena. The crowd is growing impatient, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the next WIW superstar. Suddenly, and quite unexpectedly, Goldberg’s music thunders throughout the arena. The crowd immediately rises to its feet as Da Man walks out, looking very intense. A small GOLDBERG chant is started as Goldberg, seemingly in a trance, walks directly to the ring. Goldberg climbs the steel steps and gets into the ring as his music dies down with the fans cheers. Goldberg walks over to ring announcer, Howard Finkel, and takes the mic from him.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Cena... tonight marks the beginning of your end. You see, John, this Sunday at Battle for the Gold, the world will witness the very destruction of John Cena.”

Some cheers are heard and some boos. It is obvious both Goldberg and Cena have a lot of fan support.

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Cena, you say that my opponents in the past have all lied down for me... and that this Sunday you won’t lie down for no one. But you see, Cena, if you choose to lie down or not still doesn’t change the fact that by the end of the night, you will be flat on your back looking up at the arena lights. John, you have said that in order for me to win, I will have to destroy you. Heh, well that is exactly what I plan on doing.”

Goldberg lowers the microphone as he looks out into the crowd. Then he raises the microphone back up to his lips as he continues...

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “You say you don’t fear my spear... you say that you don’t fear the Jackhammer... and then you say that you don’t fear me. Cena, don’t worry... ‘cause soon enough you will fear all three. There’s a reason you don’t fear the spear and the jackhammer and that’s because you have yet to feel the effects of them. But when you do feel them, believe me when I say that you will fear them. Cena, you say that I fear you? Do you honestly think that is true? I don’t fear anything, Cena. I don’t fear you and I don’t fear losing my title to you. If you don’t believe me, Cena, then I want you to come out here right now and stare into my eyes. Stare deep into my eyes and you will see nothing... no fear... no hesistation... no mercy.”

| ‘Da Man’ Goldberg | “Just a couple of days ago, John Cena made a promise... a promise in which he cannot keep. He promised that at Battle for the Gold, I would be handing over my Intercontinental title to him. Well, Cena, I can make promises too. And I promise that at Battle for the Gold, I will be standing over your body, holding the Intercontinental title high above my head as I am declared the winner. Cena, you say I can’t see you... but you’re wrong. I can see you... I can see you getting your ass speared to the mat by Da Man! Cena, it’s time for you to face all that hype you’ve been hearing. And, Cena, it’s time for you to find out something. It’s time for you to find out that... YOU’RE NEXT!!!”

Goldberg drops the microphone to the mat as his music hits again. Goldberg climbs the turnbuckle and raises his arms into the air as the fans cheer. The scene slowly fades as Goldberg looks out into the crowd.
