The scene opens up with the house lights still shining down on what is left of the Stateside ring from the show earlier on. In the deep shadows, protruding from the glow of the lights, the silhouettes of the Boston Gardens’ maintenance crew can be seen picking up the trash that has been thrown on the ground. As the TWC camera pans around the arena, a shadow is shown, un-moving. The shadow is tall, as the light is shining, facing towards a back wall. The camera closes up to the shadow as far as the zoom will allow before the camera fades to black...
... the scene reopens with the outline of a figure shown on-camera. The outline seems to have no shape to it. As the camera gets closer, it’s shown to be the back of a person, standing over the upper-level balcony, looking down and watching the happenings on the floor. The cameraman begins to move towards the figure... as he gets closer, the cameraman stops - his movement interrupted by speaking...
”One night. A few moments. A matter of seconds passing into minutes and so-forth. These are all small fractions of time in the sense that life flies by. However, in the grander scheme of, life being too short, these moments stand forever. Memories will always carry the recognition of the events that take place in the short amount of time that is “existence”. This one evening will be remembered, not for the return of TWC to the world of wrestling. It shall not be recalled for the announcements made, or the decisions held by the officials. No one remembers the audible calls. What you hear, will always be replaced by other words and conversations. However, visualizing remains to be the easiest way to remember over a long period of time. Thus, the question of what will be remembered about tonight is asked. It will not be what was mentioned. No, the one thing everyone will remember from TWC’s return will be the sight... the horrible, yet very gratifying, image of Sneaky Pete being flung off that loading dock, onto that concrete below. I, for one, knew it was my favorite moment... well, maybe that’s because I was the one who did it! Haha!”
“I have to give Sneaky Pete some credit... well, not really... but in the sake of... ah, fuck it! Sneaky Pete knew what he was getting himself into, coming back and agreeing to face me! And I warned him. I told him that I had not changed. That I was going to behave no differently. And I didn’t! I will NOT feel bad about my actions because, in this business, you are expected to do whatever it takes to win. Though, I know, I didn’t need to attack Pete before-hand; I did it because it had been a very long time since I heard one of my opponents scream for help! And I will NOT feel pity for Pete, coming back for our match after going to the hospital. See, Pete, there’s a line between toughness and stupidity. You showed your toughness by surviving your “fall from grace”... yet, you crossed the line into stupidity, almost without thinking, when you came down that ramp as the referee was counting you out. I knew I had you where there was no escape.”
“Needless to say, Pete, your stupid decision to fight me after being hospitalized, cost you your first ever chance to beat Rex Butler. Now you have to wonder if that chance will ever come again. Now, I know you’re watching this and thinking to yourself that somewhere down the road, you’ll meet me in the ring again. Well, if that ever happens, let me be the first to tell you that the outcome would be just the same: a Rex Butler victory. But since our little “get-together” has finished, it’s now time to concentrate on Saturday, October 18th.”
“Next week, it has been decided, that I, Rex Butler, will face Trey Hill and “The Burning” in a Triple Threat Match. The way I see this up-coming match is well, not as just another match to better my record - even though that’s what it’s going to be. But I see this match as a way for King Crasher to exact a little payback for the destruction I recently caused. Now, how he plans on exacting such revenge, by sending me into a match with these two, I don’t know. I have to sit back and just laugh because I see this as a chance to add two other victims to a list that started with Sneaky Pete. This list will continue to grow until I, once again, get my hands on King Crasher...”
“... there’s not really a lot that can be said about my opponents on the 18th. They are just two would-bes that are being given a chance to wrestle one of the biggest names in TWC! I can guarantee that Saturday’s match will not be for the faint of heart. However, it also will NOT be the long battle that Hill and The Burning are looking forward to. No, you sawy waht I did to Pete this weekend. I have to ask my opponents on the 18th one thing: What makes you think it won’t happen to you?”
“Now that I have finished with that waste of breath, it’s time to turn my attention to something that I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. On the 18th... from Chicago, Illinois, Rex Butler will once again be joined, at ringside, by Missy. Now, I know, not a lot of people see Missy’s return as a good thing - but they should. Because, in a way, she’s doing everyone else a favor by showing up. See, without her, there’s no one in TWC that can stop me from doing what I want... whenever I want to. So, you should thank Missy when you can; just make sure I’m not around. Because, really, she’s the only one that can save the TWC roster from me. Just keep that in mind.”
“But before I let you leave... I just want to re-affirm my point to Trey Hill and The Burning. Don’t think this is a “walk in the park”... well, again, it will be for me! Haha! But just remember... Saturday, the ink hits the paper as I add two new names to my list...”
... the cameraman walks away from Rex as the ring crew finishes up the putting away of the structure. The scene fades to black.
