The Calm Before the Storm

[The Calm Before the Storm]
You are the loser...and I am...

Victor; noun
One that defeats an enemy or opponent.

.:The cameras open up on a man's face. We can tell that this man is lying down because of the angle that the cameras have on the man's face. The man's eyes are closed shut and we can see that he is growing a goatee and can also tell that this man is sleeping. The cameras pull back and we bare witness to the fact that the background of what this man is lying on is a light brown color. The man slowly opens his eyes and we identify the man to be Aaron...or known by most as "The Truth". This day is hazy, hot and humid with the feeling as if you are inside of an oven owned by a pizzeria. "The Truth" yawns and several pieces of the brown background begin to move. The cameras move back fully to see that Aaron is in his same business clothing. But as we get a look of Aaron is his same business clothes, we see that we are at a farm in what seems to be in the middle of nowhere. We now know that the light brown background were pieces of hay that lies on the back of what looks to be a rusty Nissan pickup truck that Aaron was once sleeping on. A loud groan from a cow nearby is heard and several roosters make their noise. The back door of the pickup truck is flipped down and the farmer who lives on this farm who wears nothing but a pair of blue overalls, picks out pieces of hay with a pitchfork. Aaron plays dead and the farmer picks out the pieces of the hay from the truck. The hay falls from the truck, but when the farmer believes he has all of the hay, he sees Aaron fall from the back of the truck to the ground below. Aaron hits the ground head on and feels his head for any injuries that he may have sustained and his gig is up. The farmer then stands over "The Truth" with his pitchfork pointed at his head as Aaron seems to be freaking out.:

Aaron "The Truth": Um.....

Farmer: Well, well, well. What do we have here?

Aaron "The Truth": Um.....I don't know.

Farmer: Get up on ye feet, son.

.:The farmer...who stands to be about four feet eleven and looks as close as Yosemite Sam as it gets, slams his pitchfork into the dirt. "The Truth" slowly gets on his feet and wipes off the dirt from off of his shirt and on his slacks. "The Truth" then meets the farmer face to face and stares him straight in the eye and look as if they are about to duel.:

Farmer: What's your name, son?

Aaron "The Truth": Aaron...my name is Aaron.

Farmer: And what brings you to these neck of the woods, eh?

Aaron "The Truth": Well, actually...I got stuck in a ditch...and this obese women kidnaps me...and tries to make me her sex slave and so I ran away to the first thing I saw and it was the back of your truck here.

Farmer: That's a pretty funny story there, son. The name's Cletus.

Aaron "The Truth": Hello Cletus.

Cletus: Did I tell you to talk?

Aaron "The Truth": No.....

Cletus: I reckon you want t' meet th' wife and kids...don't cha?

Aaron "The Truth": Not really.

Cletus: What'd you just say...boy?

Aaron "The Truth": I said...it would be my pleasure.

Cletus: That's what I thought you said.

.:Cletus turns around, puts his hand around his mouth and calls out to someone.:

Cletus: Hey, Lindsay!!!!!

Voice: What?!

Cletus: Come on out here, I done got something to show ye.

.:"The Truth" and Cletus wait and several seconds go by before the screen door of the house opens up and a woman in house attire exits the house cradling a crying baby in her hand. She comes out and looks at the two men.:

Cletus: What's wrong with the dang baby?

Lindsay: How am I supposed to know. She's been crying all day. I have tried everything and she just keep on crying.

Aaron "The Truth": Maybe she's sick...or hungry.

Cletus: Don't be trying t' tell my woman how to raise a family.

Aaron "The Truth": But maybe she's.....

Cletus: But maybe you should stay in your place, son. Ain't nobody tell ye to barge into grown folks business.

Lindsay: Cletus, who is that?

Cletus: I done forgot your name. What'd you say it was?

Aaron "The Truth": Oh...my name is...

Cletus: Your name don't matter, son. Maybe it's time to bring to out the kids for ye.

.:Cletus clears his throat.:

Cletus: Margret!!!...Matthew!!!...Rupert!!!...Timothy!!!...John!!!...Peter!!!...Jeffery!!!...Janet!!!...Carol!!!...Brittney!!!...Robin!!!...Gregory!!!...Christopher!!!....Jennifer!!!...Candice!!!...Michael!!!...Joseph!!!...oh...who am I forgetting...Stephen!!!...Jimmy!!!...Pedro!!!

.:One by one, the children who vary through the ages exit the house and stand in the front looking at their father. Aaron looks at Cletus and then looks at his children.:

Cletus: What's wrong with you son?...look like you've seen a ghost or something.

Aaron "The Truth": These could not possibly be all of your kids.

Cletus: Yes they are...and you are going t' be th' next one. What'd you say your name was?

Aaron "The Truth": My name is Aaron...and I will not be known as your child.

Cletus: Aaron?...those them city slicker names. Your new name is Bartash from now on.

Aaron "The Truth": Bartash?

Cletus: That's right Bartash.

Aaron "The Truth": Look, you hick. I am not staying here with you...and this ridiculous...

.:A twelve gauge shotgun is cocked and is shoved into the back of Aaron. The camera pulls back from the shocked face of "The Truth" and finds that Cletus is one holding the gun.:

Aaron "The Truth": On second thought, I think I like the sound of Bartash.

Cletus: I knew you would see things my way.

Aaron "The Truth": I hate you.

Cletus: What you say boy?

Aaron "The Truth": Oh...um...I said...you need shoes. Yeah, you need shoes. It isn't nice walking around on a farm barefooted you know?

Cletus: Just get inside th' house Bartash and get washed up. Then when ye done there, I want ye at th' stable so you can clean up th' maneuver them damn horses left behind.

Aaron "The Truth": Oh...hell no. I am not cleaning up after your horse.....

.:Cletus points the twelve gauge shotgun into the back of Aaron...once again.:

Aaron "The Truth": Is that supposed to scare me?

Cletus: Pretty much...Bartash.

Aaron "The Truth": Well...good, because it's working.

Cletus: Now get up on in that house and into that dang stable...now!!!

.:The children begin to file into the entrance of the house one by one and while "The Truth" is walking to the house, tears begin to flow down his face and he looks at the camera.:

Aaron "The Truth": I want my mommy!!!!!

.:"The Truth" cries and screams into the house as Cletus looks on and shrugs. The cameras then fade.:

[From the Inside]

"Sharon. Gloria. You always see those "Truth" commercials on television and they always ask you what is your anti-drug. Over time, I have realized that my anti-drug is my wife Sharon and my seven year old daughter Gloria. Through thick and through thin, my wife has always been there for me. Whether I am up or down...she is there to lend a helping hand and has been there through my twelve years in this sport. Sharon does not approve of what I do. She has always stated for years and years on end, that she dispises the sport and has always wanted me to stop doing what I do. But although she hates this business with a passion, she understands that this is my life. Sharon understands that this is what I do for a living and that I love what I do. Sharon understands this and she respects me for my decisions...and respects me for chasing my dream. She also respects the business that I conduct on a weekly basis...and that is why I love her. I married Sharon because she is someone who I have always pictured sharing the rest of life with. Why am I thinking of all this?...it is because our anniversary is coming up. With Sharon and I both caught up in taking care of Gloria and our own endeavors...it is always hard to remember the day in which you promised to stay together. Until death do us part...and until death comes crawling along...until that day...I will be able to forever call her my own. I remember all four of the concussions I received and Sharon sticking by my bedside until I was alright. I remember that night in front of a sold out crowd in Phoenix, Arizona in where I fought a long battle for supremecy and lost. And even though I lost, I can say that I lost with pride. I can say on that night that the better man won the contest. When my ankle was shattered and I...along with the fans in attendance...looked on in awe and believed my career was done for...I remember Sharon being the very first individual that tried to help me up. She screamed and she screamed and she screamed for the paramedics to attend to my ankle while crying her eyes out...in fear that I may never walk again. I remember on that night lying on my hospital bed with my wife holding my hand and my daughter looking at me and telling myself that I would never Sharon though this sort of pain again. Sharon realizes the dangers of this sport...but it never really hits you until you are inside. You have to be inside the ring, inside the arena...where the spotlight is on you...and on nobody else but you...to realize that this business is dangerous. You have to be inside the squared circle to really know what you are sacrificing. Everytime I step inside of the ring, I know that I am vulnerable. I know that everytime I lock up and face off with an opponent that my life...and my career is in serious jeopardy. I understand that if I sustain one more concussion...or one more serious injury to any part of my body...that I am done. I realize that if that injury occurs...than I am done. My daughter used to always watch what I do when I was in my hey-day and it would give her nightmares. My daughter and my wife used to sit in the front row...and watch me wrestle. They would cheer for me when I dished out a beating...or when I won a match...and would always scream for me to get up when I would get injured...or defeated. My daughter and my wife would always wait for me backstage after my shows and give me a long hug, hoping that I would be okay...and I would always assure them that I am fine.

See, the point of me thinking all of this is not because of the fact that my anniversary is coming up soon. It is because I am back to my old self. This past week I rekindled a flame that I believed was getting burned out. But not only did I restart the legacy I began in Phoenix, Arizona, I have realized that my shocking victory was only the beginning. I have realized that by defeating Inferno, that the victory was only a tidal wave and that the victory was only.....

The calm before the storm."
