Things get worse written by The Hunter
Scene One

The Scene opens after the fight in the bar between Mindcrime and the New Blood, in the Hunter's rental town car.

The Hunter has a black eye, and a small cut, but other than that nothing major. Jeff Hardy went back to his southern California hotel, and The Hunter was going back to his San Diego hotel because ESPN was setting up a live interview via satellite for ESPNEWS' the "Hotlist". The Hunter would be a special guest and would talk for a few minutes with Brian Kenny. The Hunter's driver started the car, and they drove off.

ESPN had set up right in the hotel lobby, and their was a chair for the Hunter, and a TV monitor where he would be able see the host, Brian Kenny. The Hunter put his microphone and ear piece on, and they were on in 3... 2... 1...

Brian Kenny
OK, we are back with the WWE's The Hunter. We are very excited to have him on the Hotlist today, how are you, Hunter?

The Hunter
Well, I'm good, Brian, thanks for having me.

Brian Kenny
First things first, how do you feel about the hockey lockout being over?

The Hunter
Well, that is great for them. I'm actaully not a die-hard fan, it's great to watch and all, but you won't be catching me buying season tickets or anything. Should be able to great seats though, I doubt alot of fans will come back. Damn shame.

Brian Kenny
Yeah, it is. So how did you first get into wrestling?

The Hunter
Well growing up watching on TV with guys like Shawn Michaels, they bring such great energy and it was so much fun to watch. The Heartbreak Kid got me into pro wrestling, and I try to model my career after him in some ways.

Brian Kenny
So was he your favorite wrestler as a kid?

The Hunter
Yeah.

Brian Kenny
What would you consider the best match of your career up to this point?

The Hunter
Well, I would consider it one of two matches. Either the first title I won, which was the tag team titles against the Usual Suspects, or the World Cruiserweight Title I won later.

Brian Kenny
And you say the Cruiserweight Title because, I hear, that is when you made WWE history, correct?

The Hunter
Yeah, that was when I became the first person to ever have three titles at one time. I wrestled in three matches that night. That was one hard night.

Brian Kenny
Wow, three at one time, huh? That is a pretty remarkable achievement. For those of you just joining us here on ESPNNEWS we are live here with the WWE's Hunter. So, Hunter what is next?

The Hunter
Well, next is a pay-per-view event on Sunday. It's called Last Rites, and I am in three matches for three titles.

Brian Kenny
Wow. Trying to do it again. Hey, what happened to your face, I see it is a bit bruised?

The Hunter
Well, I was actaully attacked by one of my opponents this morning. No big deal, nothing I can't fix.

Brian Kenny
OK, that is all the time we have for the Hunter, it's been great. Good luck on Sunday.

The Hunter
Hey, thanks it's been great.

An assistant removed the microphone from The Hunter's shirt, and the Hunter was free to go. He went upstairs to his hotel room. He went to go into his pocket to reach for his room key. As he got it, his cell phone rang in his pocket. He was fumbling through them again, and finally got his cell phone. It was his father.

The Hunter's Dad
Son, I have some horrible news.

The Hunter
What is it?

Dad
Your mother, son. She isn't well. They don't know what's wrong, and they don't expect her to make the night.

The Hunter
Oh my God... Don't go anyway, I'm coming to Atlanta. I'll be there by morning.

The Hunter hung up his phone, and ran back down to the lobby. He found his driver, got the keys, and got in his rental car. He headed north on route 5, toward San Diego International Airport. The Hunter was speeding, going almost 80, weaving in and out of traffic. He came up to a traffic light, which was green for him. He was turning left. Another car ran the red light, and it wasn't good for the Hunter. The two cars collided, and The Hunter got the worst of it.

The Hunter woke up in a hospital hours later. He had no idea where he was, how his mother was, or any idea what had happened. He was in no shape to wrestle three matches in just four days. He only knew one thing: pain. It hurt, everywhere. He looked at his hands. Besides being badly cut, there was an IV plugged in. There was tubes everywhere, and he was scared. He felt his eyes get heavey, and he went back to sleep.
