The Past Comes Alive
(When we last left off, Jory and Bec had made it to Tombstone, and on the way there Jory had a strange dream about part of Tombstone's past that kinda gave him the willies, but none the less hes happy to be in good ol' Tombstone. We join him now in bed with Becca, they've just had a pretty wild night and are now relaxing under the covers, cuddling with eachother and enjoying their time together before heading out into the town and going on a shopping spree. Bec has just fallen asleep and Jory is right behind her, hes still kinda excited about being there so its gonna take him a sec to fall asleep.)
Jory: Ahh, what a great day so far, and the sun isnt even rising yet. This should be a good sign of today.
(Feeling winded from his long day he decides to fight back the drowzyness and closes his eyes preparing his body for another day. It takes Jory a bit but his body finally shuts down and he falls into a deep sleep, his mind preparing itself for yet another whacky dream inside the head of ShadowDM.)
(After the recent attack on Virgil the citizens of Tombstone, mainly the Earps and Holliday, have been sleeping with one eye open and always watching their backs. Its been a few days since the incident, Virgil is in an arm sling now and is being forced to take it easy. This has upset Wyatt and Morgan very much so but Morgan seems to be keeping to himself more. Its a blistering hot night, Wyatt is at Virgil's house helping his brother out while Morgan is at Bob Hatch’s Billiard Parlor playing a game of pool by himself. Morgan, still frustrated by the fact his brother has been shot, is playing the game a little roughly not hitting the balls as good as he used to.)
Morgan: God damn billards! Why cant you just go into the pockets!?
Bartender: *Cleaning his mugs* Calm down sir, its just a game.
Morgan: *Staring at the white billard* Yea yea, leave me alone.
(Morgan lays his pool stick against the table and aims the white billard, little does Morgan know this'll be his last pool game.)
(Back at Virgil's place, Virgil is sitting in his rocking chair, still in his arm sling, rocking back & forth watching his brother Wyatt help his wife with some of the chores.)
Virgil: *Watches Wyatt* You dont have to do this Wyatt.
Wyatt: Nonsense Virg, were family, we need to take care of eachother.
Virgil: I know but I only lost one arm, its not like I'm COMPLETELY crippled.
Wyatt: *Laughs a little* Alright then Virg, I'll help your lovely wife with the dishes while you carry in the wood.
Virgil: *Nervous laugh* Ha ha ha, on second thought, I've got the dishes and you can take care of the wood.
Wyatt: Hahaha, thats what I thought.
(Just then a loud banging noise is heard from the front door. Wyatt drops what hes doing and grabs his guns thinking its another attack. He slowly opens the door and points his gun at the man standing at the door.)
Wyatt: *Low and angry* What do you want boy?
Man: I'm sorry to disturb you folks *catches his breath* but theres an emergancy which you must tend to!
Wyatt: Whats the emergancy *keeps his guns pointed*.
Man: *Looks at Wyatt for a moment*....Morgan sir, hes been shot.
(Wyatt looks at Virgil whos already on his feet and heading towards the door. Wyatt looks at the young man and he begins to lead them back to Bob Hatch’s Billiard Parlor. They are greeted by a few passer byers peering into the open doors of the building and the sound of uncanny pain flowing into the wind. Wyatt & Virgil push their way thru to see Morgan laying on the pool table on his side, blood is gushing out his back while a doctor tries working on him. Wyatt runs over to him and grabs his hands.)
Doctor: Thank goodness your here, please hold him down and keep him company!
Wyatt: *Crying* Morg!
Morgan: *Crying out in pain* AHHHHH!! ARGH!!!!!
(Morgan and Virgil's wife run into the building but are being held back by Virgil. The family dog is howling and barking his head off in the background, mixed with the cries of the women and Morgan's anguish Wyatt snaps.)
Wyatt: WILL SOMEONE GET THAT GOD DAMN DOG OUT OF HERE!?
(No one budges as Wyatt holds onto his brother for dear life trying to keep him calm. Wyatt turns to see the dog still standing there and howling and gets super pissed.)
Wyatt: GOD DAMN IT GET HIM OUT OF HERE!
(Finally the bartender steps in and takes the dog out of the building. Wyatt's wife runs in to find him covered in blood trying to help the doctor with his brother. She hugs Virgil and the girls and watches as the doctor puts his tools down.)
Doctor: I'm sorry, theres nothing more I can do for him, the bullet is just too far in.
(The doctor steps aside and allows Wyatt to spend the last few minutes of Morgan's life with him.)
Wyatt: Morg, I'm so sorry.
Morgan: *Shaking* Dont let them get you bro, your the one.
Wyatt: I wont brother.
Morgan: Wyatt *coughs*...remember when I told you about people seeing a light when they die?
Wyatt: *Nods* Yes...
Morgan: Its a lie, I cant see a damn thing *gives out a small laugh..then his last breath*.
Wyatt: *Concerned*....Morg?....Morg!?
(Morgan's head slides a little to the left and his body clumps itself in Wyatt's arms. Wyatt stares at Morgan for a minute allowing what has just happened sink into his mind. He begins to cry and he kisses Morgan's forehead. It seems the Cowboys have struck once again...but this time they have awoken a sleeping anger in Wyatt that would change the course of history forever.)
(Its been a few hours since Jory and Bec have awoken. Jory was awaken from his dream and he couldn't seem to get back to sleep. When Bec woke the day started and they got ready to go out into town. After prepping themselves up they made their way downstairs for some breakfast. As Jory eats his breakfast Becca reads a slip of paper that was sitting next to her. While Jory eats all he can think about is the dream he had earlier, how come hes dreaming about things of the past? Is it because hes in Tombstone? or is there a deeper meaning? As Jory ponders this Becca jumps up from her seat and hands him the piece of paper.)
Becca: I'll be right back, gonna check something out. Read this while I'm gone.
Jory: *With a mouth full of food* Uhh..ok.
(Jory takes a look at the paper and reads what becca asked him to read.)
(Back in the days when Tombstone was a bustling mining town, the place presently known as "Big-Nose Kate's Saloon" was once the Grand Hotel. It was the best place to stay, though not the only one. A well-run hotel, the Grand was neat and had good service, which was difficult to find. In the Grand Hotel there worked a man; he was the bellhop and maintenence worker of the Grand. A quiet man, but congenial, always kind to the guests. No one knew his name, but people called him the Swamper. No one knows why the called him that. The Swamper lived beneath the Grand Hotel, in the basement. He kept, when he wasn't working, mostly to his room. In doing so, he discovered that a mine shaft lay beneath his floor some ways down. The mine was of either copper or silver. The land beneath the town is laced with both. In his spare time, the Swamper began to dig away at the floor of his room. No one knew or cared about his hobbies, as he was a good employee. And, being introverted, no one questioned the long hours spent in his basement room. Eventually, the Swamper got into the mine and began to squirrel away bits of silver (and/or copper). He continued this, presumeably until his death. No one knows where the Swamper stashed away his treasure, nor has anyone ever found it. His room can still be seen in the old hotel, down in the basement, barred off and left the way it was found, hole and all. People say they still see the Swamper, wandering the now-saloon and restaraunt. They think he is either searching for or protecting his precious silver in his quiet way. The Swamper has never posed a threat to anyone as of yet. Perhaps, one day, he'll find his silver and find it safe, and finally be at peace.)
(Jory sets the paper down and knows now why Becca took off. He decides to finish his breakfast before going off to find her cause hes super hungry and doesnt feel like paying for half eaten food. Before long Jory was up and ready to go, since the place he was looking for was already in the building they are in he slaps down some money and goes off in search of Bec.)
Becca's trip to the basement
(Jory and Bec, after allowing Bec to have some time to cool her jets, have hit the streets once again. This time its Allen Street, the street where most if not all the action took place. Jory & Bec walk down the long street and Jory is simply amazed at all the history thats surrounding him. famous buildings such as "The Birdcage Theatre", "The Oriental" and "The Crystal Palace" along with others are within walking distance of him and he cant help but feel electric. Just when things couldn't get more exciting for Jory, it does. A 2003 Ford Mustang pulls up along Jory & Bec and gets their attention with a loud HONK!!!! Jory and bec jump and turn to see a very familiar face looking at them with a big smile.)
???: Hey you two, sorry I'm late, but I dont exactly live here hahaha!
Jory: *Laughs* No problem Scott! Come on out!
(The figure turns off his ride and hops out revealing himself to be Scotty Dillion aka UEF Legend Scorpion. Him and Jory shake hands then He embraces Safire and takes a look around.)
Scotty: Well, this is certainly a little different from Michigan or England.
Jory: It'll grow on ya man, trust me.
Becca: Come on guys, lets have a look around.
(Scotty and Jory are quick to obey her and follow her down Allen Street. Scotty and Jory stay close to Bec while they walk cause they have no idea where they are going but dont let that faze their enjoyable moment.)
Becca: So where will we go first?
Jory: *Remembering his dream*......I'd like to scope out Bob Hatch’s Billiard Parlor
Scotty: I'll go wherever Jor goes.
Becca: Alright well, I'm gonna head back to Big Nose-Kate's Saloon, I wanna check something out..*looks at Jory*.
Jory: Alright hun, we'll head to Bob Hatch’s Billiard Parlor and we'll meet you here in a few alright?
Becca: Sounds good *hugs Scotty* Cya Scotty! *hugs Jory and gives him a small kiss* Aishiteru Koi! Cya! *smiles and walks off towards Big Nose-Kate's Saloon*.
Scotty: *Looks lost*...What the hell was that?
Jory: *Smiles and pats Scotty on the back* An "inside joke" you could say, c'mon lets go check that place out!
(Jory and Scotty make sure Bec is out of site just in case then follow the street markers to "Bob Hatch’s Billiard Parlor", in Jory's dream this is where Morgan died and now for some odd reason hes being drawn there. After passing a couple of buildings Jory & Scotty finally reach the building, but instead of seeing a billard parlor, they see a store full of t-shirts. Jory walks in with a confused look on his face wondering where the billards are, Scotty on the other hand is browsing the selections looking for a little "somethin somethin" to take home with him, not really paying attention to Jory's blank stare.)
Store Manager: May I help you?
(At the sound of the woman's voice Jory snaps back into reality and looks at her.)
Jory: Oh, no thanks.
Scotty: I need some help, what would look better on me? This "I went to Tombstone and lived" shirt or "Theres a new Sheriff in town" shirt?
(Jory takes a deep breath and walks off trying not to laugh while the store manager goes over to Scotty and helps him out. Jory decides to rifle thru some shirts to see if he can find anything worth wearing while here, he finds some pretty interesting stuff but nothing is really calling out to him. Scotty runs over to Jory with several different t-shirts and a big smile on his face.)
Scotty: Dude, that chick hooked me up with awesome shirts!
Jory: Oh yea? Lets see.
(Scotty starts showing off his new clothes with include both of the t-shirts he was modeling off for the store manager. Jory just laughs at Scotty for being suckered into buying so many shirts.)
Jory: You have a lot of pants to go with those buddy? HAHAHA!
Scotty:....Erm...I'll buy some! HA!
Jory: *Southern accent* You do that cowboy!
(Scotty & Jory laugh then turn towards the jean department to hook Scotty up with some jeans, but when they do they see a figure standing there just staring at them. Hes dressed in a white dress up shirt and a black vest, his pants look like that of the 1880's era and hes wearing a black cowboy hat. The guys, under the impression hes a Tombstone reenactor dont pay much attention to it and start picking thru jeans looking for the right pair of pants for Scotty.)
Jory: *Whispers* Dude, that guy is giving me the willies.
Scotty: Yea man, me too.
Jory: Pay for your stuff and lets get out of here.
Scotty: *Grabs a random pair of pants* I'm with ya bro.
(The guys turn to leave and stop dead in their tracks. The figure that was justa cross the store from them is now standing right infront of them. Jory & Scotty back up a little and cling to eachother much like Shaggy and Scooby-Doo.)
Jory: *Scared* Dude, if you want an autograph all you have to do is ask.
Scotty: Want my shirts? You can have my shirts!
???: *Just stares at them*....*in a raspy voice* I need to show you something.
Jory&Scotty: W-w-w-what?
(The figure steps towards Jory and Scotty and right before their eyes the scenery changes, no longer are there t-shirt racks in the store, they have been replaced by billards and a bar area. The building doesn't look worn any more either, it looks as if it were built yesterday. Scotty looks down to see the clothing is had wanted to buy gone and that everyone who was wearing modern day clothes are now all dressed as miners or cowboys. Jory and Scotty slowly walk towards the front of the store and look outside. No automotives, no modern day anything, everything is as it was over 100 years ago. Jory and Scotty look at eachother with fear in their eyes and cling to the walls to keep from fainting.)
Jory:..Scott...
Scotty: Y-y-yes?
Jory: I dont think were in Kansas anymore!
(The boys realize that they arent back in good ol 2002 anymore, so where are they? And why are they there? Who was that man who stopped them in the store and how will they return?..And dang it..where are Scotty's clothes!? Stay tuned for part 3.)
