Chapter 1

Standing at the table in his locker room and looking into the mirror, Corey Gray couldn't help but give himself a big smile. At the ripe young age of 27 he has worked his whole life to get to this point in his wrestling career. Though he usually sticks to the independant scene and moves where the money is, he took a chance and signed a contract with a wrestling company named UEF. Based in England, UEF became highly known around the world for the enormous ammount of talent on it's roster, from it's cruiserweights to the heavyweights, every single wrestler on the roster knew how to work a crowd and tell a great story in a match. With it's overwhelming popularity, UEF had no choice but to expand itself. UEF started an American franchise in an area of Washington State known as Spokane. Though maybe an unusual place to start up it's franchise, UEF knew that with their rival american company dominating on the east coast, this would allow them to catch a foothold with the Americans on the west coast and slowly make it's way east where it could hopefully take over and become to best place to go to see great professional wrestling.

Corey saw this as a great opprotunity to jump on the bandwagon not just to rake in the dough and show off his talent, but to be closer to his family as Spokane just happens to be his hometown. As UEF predicted, their shows were an instant hit in the Inland Northwest with people coming from as far as New Mexico to enjoy the fresh action UEF had to offer. Looking to build more of a following, UEF has started to hit the road and from Seattle to San Diego to Phoenix they have been selling out shows, and with their new tv deal, setting new viewing records.

Tonight they are back in Corey's hometown of Spokane and he has just been informed by the head booker that he will win the coveted UEF Ironcore Title from the champ Extreme Mohican. Though he has won numerous titles on the indy circuit, this would be his first franchise title and winning it infront of the hometown crowd meant the world to him. Though it isn't the prestiegous Ultimate Title, the Ironcore Title is still a highly sought for title, being that the UEF Ironcore, or Hardcore, Division is one of the highest rated parts of the program.

Wearing his trademark loose-fitting black leather wrestlings pants and white wifebeater, he mentally prepared himself for the match ahead. Because of his size, at 6'11" and weighing 310 pounds, people assume hes going to go out to the ring and use powerhouse moves and destroy opponents, but that is only part of his arsenal. Corey has spent many years in the ring honing his technical in-ring abilities, and has become a master at not just powerhouse moves, but high flying and grappling moves too. An article in Indy News Weekly named Corey best all-around wrestler on the scene last month after a match he had with a guy named Johnny Stronghart, whos reputation of submission grappling wrestling has earned him world wide fame, particularly in Japan. They put on such a technically advanced match that afterwards everyone in the crowd stood on their feet and cheered them, which is hard to get out of an audience most nights.

A knock at the door brought Corey out of his thoughts. He wasn't expecting anyone at that moment, as people usually know that Corey likes to be by himself before a match to get mentally prepared. He shakes off his dark thoughts of the match and opens the door to find the ever so enchanting Christina Haze standing before him.

Christina Haze was a woman not to contend with. Though small in stature she was trained to wrestle by UEF Legend Vic Haze, who is also currently Corey's on-screen manager. Corey knew her from working with her time to time on the independant scene and had the same idea he did when she heard about UEF coming to the states. When Corey watched her in the ring, it was like watching poetry in motion. She dominated every women's division she wrestled in and even when she was in matches with men she would most times show up the best of the best. With long auburn hair the reached a little below the shoulder blades and brown eyes that looked as if they could read what you are thinking, she was one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen in his life and at one point they had dated eachother for a period of time, but felt that it was better to be friends due to their demanding scheduals.

People in the lockeroom began calling them the "Twins" because they always hung out together when possible and even sometimes did things twins do, like finish eachother sentences or know what the other is going to say. She was a very good friend of his and even though this was his private time, he couldn't help but smile.

"Now what brings this lovely young woman to my room when she knows it's my private time?"

Christina gave him that smile that always made him smile more and gave his arm a small punch.

"Jacob told me tonight you are going to win the Ironcore Title, I couldn't hold myself back any longer, I had to come congradulate you."

Jacob was her boyfriend and he wrestled under the name Prometheus. Corey considered him a close friend with all the traveling they did together and found that if Christina couldn't be with him, he was happy she was with Jacob.

"Well I appreciate that Chrissy, but you could have saved that for when I acually go out there and win the belt."

"I know I know, but you know me...I just couldn't help myself, you've worked so hard."

"Thanks Chrissy, listen I..."

Christina cut him off before he could ask her to leave, and the urgency in her voice told him that he'd have to probably forget his alone time and let her in.

"Corey I have some news, can I come in?"

"Sure...I suppose."

Corey stepped aside and let Christina in, then slowly closed the door behind her and sat down on his chair opposite her who was sitting at the edge of his couch. She sat with her back straight up and her palms resting on her knee caps with a look on her face that said what she had to say wasn't good news.

"I dont really know how to tell you this so I'm just going to say it. Jeremy got into a really bad car accident on his way to the arena. Some drunken idiot hit him from the side and they both rolled into the Spokane River. When they got Jeremy out of the car he was still alive but in serious condition. Hes at Deaconess Hospital right now, but as of this moment I dont know what kinda of condition hes in."

Corey felt his heart sink at the news. Jeremy was a loyal fan who followed Corey all across the country just to see Corey wrestle. He had become sort of like family to Corey and the other wrestlers in an industry when you dont have much family, and to hear that something like this happened broke his heart.

"I dont know what to say....what of the drunk driver?"

Christina sighed irritably then stood and began pacing infront of him.

"Still alive that prick. I hope when he looks back on this he forever has guilt riding him for what hes done, if Jeremy dies from this hes going to wish he died in that crash too."

It unnerved him to see his "twin" upset like this, as she rarely was, but he could empathize with her feelings. He too wanted to find this jerk-off and strangle the life out of him. He had to choke off a tear before standing up alongside Christina and laying a comforting hand of support on her shoulder.

"Now isn't the time to lose our heads Chrissy, we need to be strong for Jeremy in his time of need."

She wiped the tears from her eyes then looked at him and slowly nodded her head.

"I know, I'm trying the best I can but....he didn't deserve this."

"Of course he didn't deserve it, we both know that. But accidents happen Chrissy, and when they happen we can only do the best we can with what we know how to..and in this we can only be strong and pray he recovers to he can pester us more on the road."

That brought a small smile to her lips. Even in the state she was in, she still seemed to look more regal and beautiful then most women could come close to touching.

"It definately has been quiet around here without him now that I think about it, usually theres a ruckus going on somewhere and it usually involves him."
