Jory Johnson: Detective For The Dead
Have any of you wondered what Jory would be like if he wasn't apart of the UEF? How about if he wasn't a man so full of power he could fight off an army from Hell? I know most of you enjoy reading that, but for NiD I wanted to give the UEF something from me they havn't seen from me..probably never. I'm going to give you Jory Johnson, a man whos never been in the UEF, with the ability to see and talk to dead people like a necroscope, but not with the same benefits our beloved ShadowDM of today has. I'm going to show you what life would be like for Jory without all those things...give you a Jory who almost virtually has no friends and operates out of a small office..an office he founded so that he could help the dead solve their cases. I'm giving you Jory Johnson as a detective..for the dead. Enjoy.
Tonight was going to be an excellent night. Though it was cold and rainy outside, it wasn't going to dampen Jory's mood. Tonight was the big Never In Doubt ppv featuring Shadowstorm, Ace, Rain, Prometheus, Zaz, The Assassin, Shade, and Tama Porter going at it in a huge Hardcore Elimination match for the Ultimate Title. Jory had locked up his office a little early for this occasion..well, that and times were slow. No one, living or dead, seemed to need his services. Either it was lack of advertising on his part, or no one seemed to need him to solve anything..but either way it forced him to take side jobs so that he could pay off his small one story house just outside of Downtown Spokane. It was sad, he enjoyed the thrill of the hunt..going after someone who commited a terrible injustice and putting their scummy ass away in prison..it made him feel better about himself, it also allowed the spirits to rest..giving less people a fright when they happened to see their dead friend or relative walking around their house.
He had his problems with his buisness and outside of it, but tonight hes pushing that all aside. Hes going to sit in his comfy recliner with a beer in one hand and pizza in the next...this is ppv night. He turned on his television set, which was up against a wall that didn't have much decroation on it..only a small mirror with silver lining and a few family pictures. The ppv screen came up and Never In Doubt began to play on the screen and because a jobber match featuring Foresaken was on there he ran quick to the kitchen and fetched his sausage pizza from the oven and Guiness beer from the fridge..then..it was on baby. For a little while, sitting there infront of that tv, the only exciting thing happening was him eating his food. He liked to watch Huntress wrestle for more then one reason, he wouldn't mind bedding her for a while that scrumptious piece of ass..but it wasn't until the Scorpion/Hiddukel match that his interest began to peak.
Scorpion was a fave of his, he even has a collection of autographed goods from Scorpion dating back to his rookie days somewhere in his jumbled up mess of a room. Hiddukel was a man that Jory couldn't get into much because Jory was more of a technical wrestling guy then a hardcore brawler guy..which drove him more to Scorpion. It was funny he had that taste because Jory was a big guy, standing at 6'11" and weighing around 310 pounds in pure muscle his body was built to take the pain but he wasn't much for that really. After watching Hiddukel put on a good match with Scorpion it was time to see the main event..finally the title would go around someone's waist. The title had been vacant for a while due to the last person holding it and now it is up for grabs in what should be a thriller.
The match was back on forth and it had him on his feet, he hadn't seen such brutality and wrestling skill slammed into one ring like this...but so far it looked like Shadowstorm may overcome the compition. He ran out of pizza and beer so all he could do was chew on his nails, waiting for the next person to be eliminated, he usually never got this nervous but hey...everyone has their moments. The match was drawn out and it seemed to take as long as it had taken for him to reach 25 years of age but finally it was over and Shadowstorm walked out the winner and the new Ultimate Champion..figures, the guy is so predictible sometimes, he hoped someone like Rain or Ace would whoop his ass soon and put some freshness on the title.
With the ppv over, he had to go back to his regular, everyday, almost boring life. Sure there were some exciting times..but when people are either too scared of you or too religious to talk to you, you found that life seemed to always end up with you alone sitting on your chair eating pizza while watching tv..what a way to live. Many religious groups, especially those Christians, destested him because they believed his gift was acually a curse from Satan and that he was put on this earth for his dirty work and a lot of times he would receive threatening phone calls to leave the area or protesters would sit outside his office and try to scare his customers away. Now, he respected all religions and wasn't about to go preaching to someone about his beliefs...but he'd think that people would lighten up a little and leave him alone. They dont see him standing outside their buisnesses or homes protesting their beliefs or calling them and threatening to hurt them if they dont change their ways....people these days.
It was late and he felt that nagging feeling of sleep weighing down his eyelids as he walked around the house and made sure everything was locked and secure. He was careful to make sure everything was locked, he didn't want someone coming in and "Clensing Spokane of its resident devil". Not only that, but spirits tend to try and come in sometimes, and though they can go through the house whenever they want..they still had to fumble with that lock.
With everything locked he made his way towards the living room so he could turn off the lights and head upstairs. He had to find a short routine then this because it seemed like it took forever to get everything locked and shut off before he could lock himself up and shut off. Once he entered the living room he stopped when he heard a sudden sound coming from his front porch. He held his breath and trained his ears to listen for anything else to come from the porch and his heart skipped a beat when he heard the doorbell ring unexpectedly. He looked at his watch and it read 9:00 pm..who could be here at 9 o'clock at night?
Because he was a Detective, though not your normal everyday kind, and his profession was dangerous enough for the State of Washington the Spokane County to allow him to have a permit, he was able to carry guns with him of just about every kind..not really needed as he doubted he'd need to take an Uzi into a fight but hey..ya never know.
