The objectives of USA Wrestling of South Dakota is to promote wrestling in all levels throughout the State of South Dakota and to ensure the continuation of and improvements upon opportunities for safe competition with exposure to various styles of wrestling. It is the intent of USA Wrestling to meet these objectives by creating opportunities in wrestling for competitors of all ages and along with their coaches, parents, and fans encourage their continued participation in the sport as they advance through their lives.GENERAL INFORMATION
South Dakota USA Wrestling is a non-profit organization that promotes wrestling in South Dakota. Our primary goals are to inform and educate the public about the sport of wrestling and to increase the number of wrestlers in the state. We strive to improve the quality of South Dakota wrestling by offering organized tournaments and camps to prepare wrestlers for competition at the national level. We promote Folk-Style, Freestyle, and Greco Roman Style wrestling.
South Dakota USA Wrestling is an affiliate of USA Wrestling, which is the national governing body for international style amateur wrestling in the United States. We are the designated representative for USA Wrestling in the state of South Dakota. It is our responsibility to carry out the guidelines and directives as set forth by USA Wrestling in the administration of this state.
Both athletes and coaches may become members of USA Wrestling by purchasing a Competitor's or Coach's USA Card. Wrestling clubs may apply for charters from USA Wrestling. We also provide event sanctioning for tournaments. Benefits of these services include insurance coverage, notifications, of state and national wrestling news, and a greater involvement in regional and national programs.ABOUT USA CARDS, CHARTERS, AND SANCTIONS
Valid for kids, cadet, F.I.L.A Cadet, junior, F.I.L.A Junior World, universtiy, senior, masters' level competition at all competition levels, and club practices. To enter a USA Wrestling sanctioned event as a competitor, you must have a current competitor's card. Membership benefits include secondary, non-duplicating sports accident insurance provided by an outside carrier. There is sports accident supplemental benefits provided to USA Wrestling members who participate in limited, non-sanctioned events. This insurance coverage includes a deductible, co-payment provisions, and other conditions of the policy (details will be provided to club administrators), a one year subscription to USA Wrestler, the privilege to compete and take advantage of events, camps, clinics, international exchanges and club programs, discounts on wrestling gear, equipment and apparel, and other national discount programs as they become available.

This is sports accident supplemental benefits provided to USA Wrestling members who participate in limited, non-sanctioned events. This card may not be used for competition.

A club charter provides membership affiliation with USA Wrestling for state and national clubs. Club Charter benefits include liability insurance for practice sessions supervised by member coaches, and properly and general liability protection for club leaders and volunteers (subject to coverage limits and condition under the policy), fund-raising opportunities through the National Headquarters and national sponsors, a subscription to USA Wrestler, a copy of the international rule book, and other materials as they become available. Each club pays one charter fee, regardless of the number of wrestlers or ages involved with the club. All members of the club must be individually registered with USA Wrestling. Owners/operators of facilities may be listed as a Certificate Holder for a nominal fee. Owners/operators, as Certificate Holders, of facilities can be listed as additional insured through approval of the insurance carrier at no cost.
Sanction for Competitive Event
A sanction for a USA Wrestling event, approved by the State Chairperson or designated state director and received and approved by the National Office within the appropriate time frame prior to the event provides organization affiliation and other limited benefits. Liability insurance coverage for the tournament organizers and volunteers is a benefit of the sanction, as well as limited property damage coverage (subject to coverage limits and conditions under the policy). The owner of the facility where the event is held may be included as an Additional Insured, upon submission of appropriate form and approval of the insurance carrier, at no additional cost. All contestants must hold valid USA Wrestling Competitor membership cards. Event Directors receive a Certificate of Insurance, opportunity to purchase discounted event supplies, fund-raising consignment sales opportunities of USA Wrestling merchandise at certain events, event organizing materials, access to national staff for consulting, and free promotional listings in the USA Wrestler and on the internet (subject to publication dates and receipt of event information.

Members of your club and the club director are eligible to receive a complimentary subscription to USA Wrestler, the official magazine of amateur wrestling. Find out what tournaments are being offered in your area through the publication's extensive event listings! In addition, USA Wrestling offers TheMat.com, which provides a vast wealth of information and upcoming programs. TheMat.com will also provide numerous other services for club and event directors in the near future. Plus, members are eligible to take advantage of great wrestling opportunities, such as camps and clinics taught by Olympic and world-class wrestlers.... international exchanges to foreign lands....coaches certification and teaching programs.... clubs will receive an exciting Regional & National Events Poster.
2. International Rule Book and Guide to Wrestling!
Each USA Wrestling Chartered Club is eligible to receive a copy of the International Rule Book and Guide to Wrestling. The latest rules interpretations and suggested organizing guidelines for events are included.
3. Great discounts for members!
A USA Wrestling Competitor, Coach, Official, Partner, or General Membership card carries with it a special advantage, discounts with USA Wrestling's Merchandise Department. Your USA Wrestling card can save you money all year round!
4. Fund-raising opportunities!
USA Wrestling offers Chartered Clubs and sanctioned events and exciting fund-raising program called Product Consignment Sales. We send you hot selling USA Wrestling products. Sell them at your club or event. Return what you do not sell and keep your commission. How simple could it be?
5. Secondary Sports Accident Insurance!
Every member, except Partner and General, with a current USA Wrestling membership card, is eligible for secondary sports accident insurance benefits, provided by an outside carrier, when they join USA Wrestling. There is sports accident supplemental benefits provided to USA Wrestling members who participate in limited, non-sanctioned events. (Benefits are in effect for USAW chartered club and sanctioned event activities, and other activities sanctioned by USAW. 6. Liability Insurance!
Liability insurance coverage, provided through a quality carrier, is provided for USA Wrestling sanctioned events, chartered clubs, club coaches, administrators, and volunteers for covered claims and related litigation. 7. USA Wrestling Sanctioned Events!
Running a USA Wrestling sanctioned event can provide many benefits to your club and club members. These include the opportunity to compete with athletes from other communities, the opportunity to raise funds for your club, provide training for your mat and pairing officials, etc. Other information on benefits and services is provided in this packet.

We invite you to join USA Wrestling! To enroll as a chartered club, fill out the "Application for Club Charter," and send it with your individual Competitor, Coach, and/or General Member registrations to your State Chairperson or Membership Director. You will receive your official Club Certificate along with lots of other information, as we welcome you as a member of wrestling's National Family!
