My name is Alex Perez and I am writing to inquire your help. I am an 18 year old High School Senior, currently attending Braddock Senior High School in Miami-Dade County, Florida. I was ecstatic when I received the news that I was accepted into UTI Technical School in Houston, Texas. I really never thought that I could make something of myself because I spent so many years struggling in school and in ESC programs. I go to school full time and I maintain a part time job. I have also been an active team member of the Braddock Senior High School Wrestling team. While on my team, as captain, I led by example and always put 100% of effort into the team. I contributed many hours of my time and hold many rewarding memories. I am a hard working, responsible young man and I wish to pursue the opportunity to make something of myself. The only thing that is stopping me from making my dream come true is the fact that I did not pass the reading portion of the F-CAT by 5 points.
My dream has always been to go to school and make my parents proud of me knowing that I can walk with my head held up high. The feeling of knowing that I will have an amount of pride that will stay with me for the rest of my life is something that can and never will be replaced. I do not know if the situation is out of your hands or if there is anything you can do to help me but any effort would be greatly appreciated by myself and my entire family. I choose to post this letter because I do not know what else to do. I am very much afraid that if I do not attend UTI I will have thrown away the opportunity of a lifetime. Please help me realize a long time dream and help me to become the type of man that will do that he can to make a difference in this world.
