A former star with Ohio Valley Wrestling — WWE’s developmental
territory — Rob Conway has quickly emerged as a Superstar with a promising
future in the business.
Conway toiled in the Ohio Valley for six years, but when his promotion to
WWE finally came, he quickly made his mark. Actually, it took just one
night.
Shortly before SummerSlam 2003, Conway was seated in the front row
disguised as a United States Serviceman. The Dudley Boyz called Conway
into the ring, but then made the mistake of turning their backs to face
the crowd. Conway, American flag in hand, attacked Bubba Ray and D-Von.
But he wasn’t done meddling. Just days later, the Montreal resident made
his pay-per-view debut when he interfered on the side of La Resistance,
ultimately becoming a member, in a match against the Dudley Boyz.
Conway flourished on the big stage. And in the following months after
SummerSlam, Conway and partner Sylvain Grenier exploded on the tag team
scene, eventually winning the World Tag Team Championship with a victory
over Chris Benoit and Edge. |
