~~An images appears on the screen...a
screen of static and slight images...loosely, we can see reporters and
people...as a copy of a copy. The shot of a television with bad
reception.~~ ~~Standing at the top, even when not actually credited with being at the top...without holding the "proof" of being on top...is a difficult thing. There are always people out to get you, and there are always people out to find out just how good they are. They attempt to topple the giants, to make a name for themselves so they can say that they beat the best of the best...it gives them a nice little boost. It gives them something to tuck under their belts and say, "yeah, I beat the big man. I bested the master." Sometimes, in their attempts, they succeed, and become something that only their wildest fantasies would allow them to be.~~ REPORTER: We're here today outside the Greater Pittsburgh Courts where former wrestler and business superstar Joey Padrino has lost his case against former business partner and associate, Krev MacDougan- ~~Because people like to let themselves know that what they are doing is worthwhile...that what they are doing will last. They want to give their pathetic lives meaning...they want to be the best. KMD is indeed a giant to be toppled, and a difficult one at that. Will he be toppled? Everyone seems out to get his ass on a roster full of wrestlers people love to hate...love to hate, with the exception of KMD. Everyone sees the feds only true hero as a threat..they can't deal with the fact that his is at the top...sort of. Technically speaking, Ebdon is at the top...he has weaseled his way to the top of the food chain...but he doesn't show it, does he?~~ REPORTER: In a brief statement today, it was found that MacDougan gained from the proceedings nearly $15 Million, all of which was deposited in the now newly-reformed "MacDougan Entertainment", a company that saw to the production of KMD, as MacDougan is popularily called, segments, as well as acting as a base fund for MacDougan's Wrestling School, a school located here locally in Pittsburgh. It was stated that- ~~No, no he does not. He's running scared, and it seems like the only thing on his mind right now is the threat of KMD stepping up at the next PPV and taking away his dreams...shattering his hopes. He's making sure that KMD hears and knows he is around, stomping and shouting and making a general ass out of himself. Is he afraid of anyone else? Nope, not as far as the eye can see...~~ REPORTER: ...and that Joey Padrino, former IWF owner and persona, is now in jail, awaiting further trials... ~~But the really funny thing is that despite all of the hooplah and fireworks erupting around the event, KMD is walking out of court with a smile on his face tonight. No, he isn't worried about Ebdon or anyone else...he isn't even worried about the title. Why should he?~~ REPORTER: The Prosecution in the case stated earlier in a press conference that they are glad the proceedings are over with for them, and they feel that justice was served, as well as will be served. The Padrino team declined to comment. KMD: Yeah, that's just about right. No, I don't care how much it costs, I want that cage. ~~The camera turns, slowly, from the television to a shot of KMD, sitting in a reclined chair in his grubby appartment talking on a cell phone in a pair of sweatpants. He takes a swig of beer as he nods to the camera.~~ KMD: No, none of this half bullshit. It belongs to me, and I want it now. I don't care...ship it to Pittsburgh...I have the cash for it. ~~Krev notds at the camera, holding up a finger, indicating "1-moment". He nods to the phone again.~~ KMD: It's going to be here anyway, may as well just ship the damn thing here. Yes, they know I'm buying it...well, some of them. That doesn't matter...if they don't use it, I will. Good, just get it here. ~~KMD nods back to the phone, and then hangs it up, look up at the camera.~~ KMD: Oh, this is going to be a lot of fun. ~~Krev takes another long swig of his beer, and then nods to a man...noticed as the camera slowly pans out a bit...sitting on a couch, also drinking a beer. The man is none other than Rick Jones, IWF announcer and close friend of KMD.~~ RJ: You just got your money today, and you're already spending it? What are you buying now? Did you say a cage? KMD: Its not really buying, but rather investing. As to what "it" is for...you're just going to have to wait like everyone else...I promise it to be a lot of fun for the IWF. ~~Krev takes a long swig of beer, matched by RJ.~~ RJ: You bought the IWF a cage? How are you going to fit a cage into a bingo hall? ~~Krev shakes his hear around a mouthful of beer.~~ KMD: Not putting it in a bingo hall...and it isn't that type of cage. It's a special cage. ~~Krev pauses a second and shakes his head.~~ KMD: But no more...you'll find out in a few days time what it is and what it's gonna be used for. I said I was the feds savior...and I meant it in more ways than one. ~~Krev smiles, putting the feet up on the recliner.~~ KMD: A more important question. Why the hell did the IWF send you to do a measely interview? RJ: Julie didn't feel too well, so I just volunteered. I figured why not? ~~KMD shrugs and takes a swig of his beer.~~ KMD: Fair enough. RJ: That, and, well, it was either Brasco or me. I figured you would kill Brasco if he showed up on your doorstep. KMD: Kill might not be the best word for it, but its the first one that comes to mind, yeah. That jackass would probably get himself killed in my neighborhood...no need for any help from me. RJ: What we're going to focus on here is your matches at Wrestlepolooza. You remember the first one, right? KMD: Yeah I do...it was a hell of an event. It was probably the event that put the IWF on the map. RJ: Definatley. What are your thoughts on this one? Things have changed since then. ~~Krev nods as he shuts off the tv with a remote and leans back in the chair, half-reclining it...enough to relax, but not so much that all you can see is his massive chest and crotch.~~ KMD: Joey is out of the picture now...finally, after years of working against that bastard, we put him under. Its a new dawn in the IWF, and I'm looking to make a few changes around here...first stop is the PPV. I have some people to go through before I can claim the biggest title of the game. Will I get it...shit, I don't know anymore. I beat Ebdon once, but apparently that wasn't enough for him. I dragged his ass through the mud where he belongs, but this time...yeah, it is in a ring. And, no, I will not have any pigs to "help" me. I didn't really see them as helping me, but more like helping themselves...to a heaping helping of Ebdon's British hospitality. It had to hurt, whatever it was they found down there. ~~Krev and RJ laugh. Krev takes a swig of beer.~~ RJ: What other changes do you have in store for the IWF? KMD: For one, no more of this bingo hall shit. IWF deserves to be at the top of the game like it always has...if it takes some money being poured into the fed, then so be it. It may be a few weeks, but we'll get through them, and then we'll be playing sold-out crowds in no time. Some other things would be some new equipment and maybe a well-funded event to draw in some people. The IWF's been out of the indy world too long, and it is about time that people began to take notice again...it may not garner network spots right off the bat like some of these larger feds, but it'll happen in due time. ~~RJ nods.~~ RJ: You're using all your money for the IWF? Nothing for yourself? KMD: It isn't exactly like that...see, it's more like I'm dumping my money into my media business. The money will filter from there to support my investments. Not all of it went there, though...I bought a few things for my motorcycle and paid off a few loans, but thats about it. Most of the rest of this will be to support the IWF, as well as the other federations that the MacDougan Entertainment logo has names attatched to wrestlers. A large portion of it will definately go to the IWF, though. I figure as an IWF shareholder, it would be in my best interest to invest a little bit of money into the fed that I built...I would really hate to see the place fall apart again. RJ: Some questions about the PPV. Windsor has made it pretty much clear that he is getting towards the end days of his career, and it's looking like THE TRU$T is a one-man show now. How do you think this will affect you at the PPV. ~~KMD frowns as he sits up straight and takes a long swig from his bottle.~~ KMD: I really don't know if anyone noticed...hell, I never really noticed...but THE TRU$T is more or less dead. It's been that way for a good month now...it's been KMD through almost the whole shitstorm. Its difficult, being the only guy people can actually respect, as well as the only guy people seem to be gunning for after they disassemble each other at chances to get at KMD I think that is why Ebdon is acting like such a little bitch. Jealousy, fear? Not really...he sees the ammount of bullshit I'm putting up with, and he knows he'll have to do the same damn thing with those loonies. Yet he keeps on coming...so, it can't be fear. Blind stupidity? Maybe. Hell if I know...I'm not Ebdon, and I can only guess what the hell is going through his mind. As far as I'm concerned...I have one objective: to make the IWF better than it was before, and, quite frankly, there is no way that can be accomplished with someone like Ebdon at the helm...yeah, I'd still invest my money...I'm not buying myself into any championships...but it the fed just wouldn't have the flair it needed. It would turn into a huge mess...a whole bunch of self-centered little pricks, one large self-centered prick, and KMD. Is the world ready for or wanting that? No, not in the least...Ebdon is good, but he just doesn't have the draw he used to...back in his W3 days. He's become stagnant. ~~Krev takes another long swig from the glass and smiles.~~ RJ: What about his comment about you being a one-day champion, or his comment on your son's skills and his ASW position? KMD: Yeah, they struck me too. Hurt? No. First thing, my son is more or less new to the sport...he's never done anything bigger than a house show...but I'm not going dismiss it as being just that. He is good...damn good...but his head isn't always screwed on tight, know what I'm saying? Yeah, it'll be some time before he can make an impact, but thats normal. Besides, I've trained him well enough that if Ebdon does happen to kill me in the ring, he'd be on the next plane to England to take payment out of Ebdon's sorry ass. Where I may fail, Mike sure as hell would succeed. Mike is...well...think KMD, only younger, more energetic, more stamina, and less experience. He may make a mistake here and there, but he sure as hell would be running circles around Ebdon, or anyone else in this fed. I'm not worried about him...he can take care of himself. I'm more worried for Ebdon...if Mike caught word of what Ebdon said, I'm not sure what he would do. ~~He takes a swig of beer, washing his palate.~~ KMD: As for the champion for a day comment...you were there, and I don't really feel like I need to explain it. Ebdon says that he didn't want it explained. But, you know what? For the benifit of everyone out there new to the IWF and scratching their heads trying to figure out what the hell happened, maybe I should tell why. It isn't an excuse...excuses are cheap and easy. This was more of a line of reasoning. Bear with me, this walk back on History Lane might make date some of us... ~~Swig of beer.~~ KMD: Back in 2000, Holliday and I started what is known as the IWF with our own start-up cash and a small loan from a few individuals. We built a massive, sprawling complex that became known as IWF-Central, as well as owning some of the best equipment of the time. Things were looking up for the small corporation that would eventually make both of us lose our shirts. In a desperate attempt to save what was starting to fail, I took my boots back off the wall and strapped them on, sold a few of my shares, and stepped down from being on staff. Jason Sensation was a fine champion...so fine that not a single person on the roster could beat him. Originally it was meant as something to pick the fed back up...and I started doing my hardcore stint again, gaining an awesome following. One out of every 5 redneck kids had a KMD t-shirt. When my following was big enough, I decided to take on Sensation, to make things interesting. As it always happens when my good friend Sensation and I start fighting, things turn personal. I don't know why, it just happens that way I suppose. Anyway, eventually the event that was supposed to be interesting turned into a bloodbath...Sensation and I ended up destroying each other in the ring. Somewhere, deep down in my mind, I felt it was time that my former student learned a little lesson in being humble...to show him that anyone can be toppled, no matter how strong they stood. And I did it...I, as it was known at the time, "beat THE MAN to become THE MAN". I was still a little beaten-up after that fight, Sensation doing a number on me- ~~RJ cocks a brow.~~ KMD: Alright, Sensation beat the living hell out of me. In all reality, I can only say that it was a compliment...I polished that kid to the point he became a terror in the ring and a master of the microphone. Regardless, I felt that my task was over, and I needed a vacation, so the night after the PPV we had a small event...a few matches and a few things to clear up some loose ends. One of those loose ends was the title that I really didn't want. I wanted to be the best, and show the world that I was the best...I didn't want that title. I never did, and I thought that since we got over that bumpy spot in the road, things would clear up. I took the microphone and told the world that the first man to come down would be the new IWF Champion...I didn't expect that moron Hoopy to take it, but he did. He was the first one out, and he got it...what I really wanted to do was show the world that titles mattered shit, and I wanted to make Sensation feel that. I wanted to show him that I could take a title from him and give it away...I was big into knowing I was a champion without having to sell myself for a piece of metal...I half expected Sensation to show up. He didn't, Hoopy did. I'm not the man to go against my word, so I gave it to him. What did I have to lose? It was a publicity stunt, and I felt the fed was on a good track after that spectacle. I was wrong. ~~KMD sighs as he takes another swig from his bottle.~~ KMD: What followed after I left was a series of failed attempts crushed dreams. I would have come back, but the heart wasn't there anymore after Holliday left. I accepted that and moved on...I jumped around to a few feds during that time, and decided to jump into W3 after a strong urging from Colin Ronning. That was where I got my first look at Pete Ebdon, as well as continued my fued with Sensation...he wasn't happy or over the whole IWF thing even after 2 years. Shit happens, and that is another story all together. KMD: But let me get one thing straight...take this as you wish...but Ebdon's views are skewed from the truth as to what a Champion is. A champion doesn't let his fed die while holding the top prize...I walked away from the IWF...it was a mistake...but to have to come back and start over...it wasn't worth it. Yeah, Ebdon ruled the IWF for a period of time...but what did he accomplish there? Not much...I shut that fed down before he could do anymore damage. RJ: What is a true champion? ~~Krev smiles as he takes a swig of beer.~~ KMD: Look in the dictionary, and you'll see my picture next to that definition. Seriously, though, a true champion is someone who earns their title...someone who goes through hell and back, and doesn't get caught up in the hype...doesn't care what happens to them as long as they are doing what they think should be done. I did what I thought I had to do...in the end, it just didn't turn out so well. We all make mistakes, and that is a mistake I don't want to make twice. ~~Krev takes a swig of beer, and then kicks the footrest back down, sitting up in the chair.~~ RJ: What about the new guys? The wrestlers that have decided to eliminate THE TRU$T? KMD: What about them? They're chasing ghosts...THE TRU$T isn't a threat...I'm the threat, and they know that. I'm the one they think they need to take out to get anywhere. Sadly enough, it's the truth. I'm standing in front of everyone here, and it makes them so angry...it's as if I'm pissing on their nest, and they're swarming together, trying to take me down. Piss on them. If they need to take me out to get anywhere, I say let them try. Am I worried about them? Not really, but I'm not going to discredit them...they have the numbers, and they have the will. I think a few of them might even make fine champions, but not the leading champion...not yet. Ebdon sees them and laughs at them...I wouldn't do that. I laughed at them when they were a discordant mass of ankle-biters...but now they have numbers...now they have a cause. Speaking of a cause... ~~Krev leans back in the chair.~~ KMD: I was on my way home the other afternoon, and I ran into a peace rally. Thats all well and fine, but these kids don't understand a few things. Whining and bitching about something will only get you so far, and action will only get you a little further. Maybe this'll make me sound like Padrino, but the truth of the matter is that nothing is ever accomplished in this country...or any country for that matter...without money. Maybe if those hippies got a shower and cut their hair once in awhile they could hold down a steady job, something to give them a little bit of backing. No matter what anyone will tell you, money always talks, and it always gets things done. You can stand around in the cold and chant and rant and rave and cheer for what you want, but if you don't have the money to do it, it won't happen. Stop smoking so much damn pot and take a look at your world...this world is a shitty world...we live in our own filth, and, for the ones in power, it doesn't matter to them because they don't have to look at it everyday. They have the money to get out of anything that would tarnish their finely tooled Gucci shoes. The real way to get something done is to buy it, and then work with it...you're lucky if you can find someone with money who isn't corrupt and will spend that money in an attempt to get things done. The shitty thing is that money most definately corrupts, and after gaining all that money, all that power, they don't want to put their necks on the line and lose it..a person who once had noble pursuts many times just turns into another power-laundering chimp in a suit having his strings pulled by people with even more money with the promise of making more...whats the point of that? You can only spend so much, and you can't take it with you when you're done. Bitching and moaning about the change you want won't get you anywhere, and even action turns out to be sub-par because people will close their ears to such talk and action...they'll buy their way out of the situation, or flatly just ignore it...because those people don't present a threat to them. If every hippy was a billionaire, then the US would be a nation of people sitting around all day in big open fields hugging each other and getting stoned. No wars, no violence...just...slack. ~~Swig.~~ KMD: I don't know what's worse. RJ: Strong view, but...it makes sense. How do you think the match is going to go? KMD: Rick, I have no [CENSORED]ing clue. Apparently I won't have my pig henchmen around to do my dirty work for me... ~~Krev smiles.~~ KMD: ...but that isn't going to stop me. If Ebdon wants it badly enough, and he deserves it, then he will probably come out with the title. He is good, and he does have the background to do it...but that won't let my heart rest at ease. I'm about to have a large ammount of money tied up in this business, and I don't think that Ebdon is the man for the job. Being the Champion has a whole series of responsibilites behind it...things that shouldn't be left to slack. People have to constantly be thinking they can become the champion, and have to constantly be striving for it to make things interesting...otherwise you fall into a trap. I don't want the IWF to fall into that pit again...if I came out on top...after dealing with the ever-present Anti-Trust, that is...I'd have my work cut out for me, but I can handle it. Hell, I'd give everyone and their brother a shot at it if it would make things interesting...but I won't give it away. Not this time. That is a strategy that should have never come out of the playbooks, and I'll be damned if it's going to happen again. RJ: What about the Bad-Ass title? What will happen there? KMD: It'll go vacant until there is someone good enough for it...but I already have plans for that. I have a huge announcement for the PPV...one that could very well shake the wrestling world as we know it. AND it doesn't include KMD once again leaving the world of wrestling because his time in the fed is over...that is long from the truth in this situation. True, to even get that far, I'm going to have to take on 2 matches that night...and if my first opponent beats me, they'll have 3 matches to contend with. That leaves Ebdon with one single solitary match for the night. Not exactly fair, is it? Ah well...lifes a bitch like that. ~~Krev takes a long swig of his beer.~~ KMD: But if one of those guys can get through both Ebdon and KMD, then they deserve that title more than Ebdon or KMD ever did...and they would have my full support. Anti-Trust or not. My objective for the night is to make sure Ebdon doesn't walk out with that title...and I'd be more than happy to take it away from them if they didn't hold it right...I don't go for that all-powerful champion bullshit. It is a damn JOB above all else...and it isn't a job to be taken lightly or listed as an asset. That makes a paper champion, and the IWF doesn't need another paper champion. RJ: Most definately not. KMD: What the world, and most importantly Ebdon and the Anti-Trust, needs to know is that KMD is NOT a paper champion, and he is NOT going to make the same mistake twice...and he will have that second chance. And you can put money on that. ~~He downs the rest of the glass as we fade to black, the last imprints of KMD on the screen wearing that million-dollar shit-eating grin on his face and RJ looking at KMD a little stangely...as if it was something he said...~~ |
