Interview with Vigo and Yovonna!August 1, 2007![]() Picture from Vigo & Yovonna's personal myspace
---Yovonna's debut: 2003
--Both worked for Slam All Star Wresting (SAW), In your face wrestling (IYFW)
Yvonna: I had supported Vigo threw his training and I always did what I could for him, mostly driving to the shows and home. Then in October 2003, Alex asked if I wanted to become Vigo's manager I of course said yes right away and she started training me. After a while that just was not enough anymore and when JP Black opened a school near by I jumped at the chance to be his student.
Yvonna: Well because I have yet to have a match of my own I would have to say that my highlights are the people I have met, and the places I have seen. It is kind of odd actually meeting people that as a child I looked up to like King Kong Bundy, Tito Santana, and Tony Atlas. Also woman such as Lady Amazon, Amanda Storm, Lexie Fyfe, and other fellow GLORY girls that I have met in our travels
Yvonna: HAHAHA Have you seen a picture of me? There is no way I would make in the TNA/WWE. As much as I respect those women, I in no way shape or form look like them. If they went just on talent I might have a shot, but as they also go for looks and a, shall I say certain body type, I just do not have it.
JM: Considering all the crap wrestling has had on relationships, what's your secret for your relationship that stays strong?
Yvonna: Storylines! I would love to see the 80's style back on TV, with the interviews and interaction that used to be the norm, Piper's Pit, Bobby the Brain Heenan, The Snake Pit, etc. I break out the wrestling tapes my Dad made in the late 80's and I love every second of it.
Yvonna: Well I have to say for managers I have to look at the late Sensational Sherri and Miss Elizabeth, we would not be here if not for them. As for wrestlers Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant and Jake the Snake, they sucked me in and made me want to watch the next show. If you had asked me this question a few weeks ago I would have added Chris Benoit. I still admire his ring work and love to watch his fierceness in the ring, but you see you have to be able to draw the line between Benoit the wrestler and Benoit the person. Well I love Benoit in the ring; I find that what the person Benoit did was wrong.
Yvonna: My story is not funny like Vigo's is. We were at a SAW show in Highgate, VT on September 9, 2006. It was Big Vigo, Guilluame Desade, and Drake Evans with me and Demonica vs Maxx Burton, JP Black and the Green Mountain Grappler with Alex. I introduced my team and Alex introduced her team. I then jumped from the ring apron to the floor something I have done many times. However my foot got caught on the ring skirt and I fell. I landed on one leg and felt a pop. I could not stand up my knee would not support me. When I finally caught the eye of the security guard he and Demonica helped me to the back with the audience crying faker and cheater. I put my knee up and put ice on it. I thought I just pulled or sprained a tendon or ligament. Vigo came into the back changed and we got on the road. We stopped at Denny's for a bit to eat and we had dinner with Demonica, Alex, Max, and JP Black. By this point my knee was three times it's normal size yet I still walked out to the car under my own steam to which I got JP, Max, and Alex giving me a She is hardcore chant. I proceeded to finish the drive home (about 2 ˝ hours drive time 3 ˝ if you include stopping for dinner.) We went to bed I allow Vigo 20 minutes rest before I said we need to go to the hospital. We went once and then a about 6 hours later as the pain was really bad. It was not until the second time at the hospital did I shed a tear. We found out over the next few weeks that I torn my ACL and had to have it surgically replaced in December 06. I am finally healed and just waiting for my brace to come in and then I can start training again.
Vigo: Maxx is a touchy subject for me. We were long time partners and he was the one who brought me into SAW. Nevertheless whenever I fight him I am brought to another level, where everything is on the line.
Yvonna: Alex is touchy for me as well. She brought me into SAW, took me under her wing and taught me a lot. Now however we are on opposite sides of the fence.
Yvonna: Go out and do it, you can't follow a dream if you don't pursue it. No one is going to hand it to you on a silver platter.
Yvonna: I'll leave you with this quote: "I've never lived closer to danger, but I've never felt safer. I've never felt more confident, and people could spot it from a mile away. And as for this, the violence? I got to be honest - it grew on me. Once you've taken a few punches and realize you're not made of glass, you don't feel alive unless you're pushing yourself as far as you can go." (Matt Buckner played by Elijah Wood in Green Street Hooligans)
