Angle said he wanted to try something -- every time he said a sentence, he wanted the people to respond by saying, "It's true!" But still, the fans said, "What?" Kurt was soon screaming, "It's true, it's true, it's true," in a fit of rage, until suddenly Edge came out to the stage.
Edge told Kurt that his gold medal win was inspiring and uplifting, but most importantly, it was six years ago! Edge told Kurt to get out of the past and start living in the present. Edge said he would help, and said that since Kurt wouldn't have any title matches any time soon, they should settle some unfinished business at Backlash.
Angle called Edge a "snot-nosed punk," asking if he really wanted a piece of him. Angle said that at Backlash, it would be his honor to kick Edge's ass! Edge said he would say something Kurt didn't hear very often -- it's a date!
Edge said that Kurt had a point, and the people shouldn't chant "What?" after everything Kurt said. He said Kurt was a special man, and said the people should chant something else after each of Kurt's sentences. He suggested that every time Kurt spoke, everyone should show their appreciation by chanting, "You suck!"
Moments later, Angle was mumbling to himself in his locker room when he was approached by Chris Jericho. Y2J said he'd seen what happened out there, and agreed that Edge was a snot-nosed punk. Y2J said there was no question that if Edge hadn't interfered, Jericho would have beaten The Rock last week. He said before Angle faced Edge at Backlash, Y2J would beat the hell out of him tonight. Angle said if there was one thing he couldn't stand, it was a loud-mouth Canadian with blond hair who dressed like a rock star -- well, except Jericho, said Angle, since Jericho was cool! Y2J said the two of them should form a little pact, and watch each other's backs if anything went down tonight with Edge, Hogan or Triple H. The two shook hands.
Next up, Jericho took on Edge. The bout was incredibly intense, and
soon, Kurt Angle made his way out to interfere. Angle ran into the ring
only to be met by a spear by Edge! That momentary lapse of concentration
on Edge's part allowed Jericho to hit a modified bulldog. But when Y2J
went for the Lionsault, Edge got his knees up. Edge slingshotted Jericho,
and accidentally knocked out the ref. Edge locked Y2J in the Edge-ecator
leglock, but there was no ref, so Edge went to revive him. Jericho knocked
down Edge, and then grabbed a steel chair. But as he went to hit Edge,
he was met by a spear! The ref slowly counted the pinfall, but Y2J kicked
out at two. Angle climbed up on the ring apron, and when Edge went after
him, Angle hung Edge on the top rope, and Jericho rolled up Edge and pinned
him with a handful of tights! After the bout, Edge chased Angle away! Edge
and Angle battled in the backstage area until Jericho saved Angle. The
two double-teamed Edge, with Angle hitting the Angle Slam on the concrete,
and locking him in the ankle lock, until suddenly, Hollywood Hogan came
out to save Edge! Jericho got in a cheap shot on Hogan, and then Jericho
and Angle ran away as Hogan checked on Edge.

Backstage, Kurt Angle was very upset, and didn't understand what Mr. McMahon was thinking. He asked if they should just elect Hillbilly Jim for president while they were at it. Kurt was then approached by Edge. Edge said he felt bad about their match tonight, since they used to be friends. He said he had found some pictures of the two of them together. Edge had four pictures -- each of which had something written on the back for the fans' enjoyment -- stuff like "I suck," "And I'm a dork," and "P.S. I have no testicles." Kurt said Edge wasn't such a bad guy -- until he saw what was written on the back of the pictures, and walked away, steamed!
Next up, Edge went one-on-one with Kurt Angle. Angle soon brought a
chair into the ring, and as Edge went for a spear, Angle held up the chair,
knocking Edge out and busting him wide open! The ref called for the bell,
disqualifying Angle for using the steel chair. After the bout, Angle went
to use the chair again, but Edge battled back and chased Angle away!
