The truth that makes men free is for the most part the truth which men prefer not to hear.

Weslaco, Texas

***The scene opens in front of the Dunn family home.  Wilson is standing on the porch banging on the front door.  He looks around trying if anyone is home.***

WILSON:  Dad?!  Come on I know your home!

***Wilson shakes his head and walks off the porch.  He’s about to leave when he sees something on the ground.  He walks over and picks up a letter.  Wilson glazes at it for a few second.  He realizes what it is.***

WILSON:  Oh no…he knows…goddamn it…

***Wilson shakes the paper dry then folds it up and puts it’s in his jacket pocket.***

WILSON:  He must have finally found someone that could tell him what it meant…shit…how the hell did he get it?

***Wilson walks off to his car shaking his head in disbelief.***

5:47 pm

Charlotte, North Carolina

***The scene reopens with a shot of David Dunn passing a Charlotte City Limits sign.  He’s still wearing the same clothes from a few days ago.  He’s still walking his way down to New Jersey.  After way down the road he notices a key sitting down next to a bike which the chain seems to have been broken off.  David walks up to the end and kneels down in front of the kid.  David looks him over and sees that his leg has been scraped a bit.***

DUNN:  You okay kid?

KID:  Yea…

***A tear rolls down the kid’s cheek.***

DUNN:  Oh don’t cry man.  Here let me check out your bike…

***David moves over to the bike and notices that one of the bolts in the chain came loose.  David swings his bag around and pulls out a pair of pliers.  A few seconds later he finishes off the chain.  He hooks the chain back up to the gears.***

DUNN:  Here…

***David picks up the bike and places it in front of the kid.***

KID:  You…you fixed it!

***The kid jumps on the bike and rides off.***

KID:  Thank you mister!

***David nods his head.  He then proceeds into the city more.***

9:59 pm

Charlotte, North Carolina

“St. Paul Church”

***The scene reopens inside the holy house of god.  The scene moves up to see David kneeling upon hundreds of lit candles with a cross standing above it all.  David looks up at the cross with no emotion…he just stares there as if he was waiting for an answer.  Suddenly a Priest walks out of the shadows of the church and stands next to David.  David looks up at the Priest.***

PRIEST:  You’re a little late for mass my son.

DUNN:  Didn’t come here for mass.

***David looks back up at the cross.***

PRIEST:  Seems you came here searching for answers.

DUNN:  Answers I know…it’s the questions I seek.

***The priest leans against one of the wooden bench sits in the church.***

PRIEST:  What are the questions you looking for?

DUNN:  You wouldn’t understand.

PRIEST:  Oh I wouldn’t?  Why not give me a try my son.

***David closes his eyes and opens his mouth…yet…the words won’t come.  It’s as if there on the tip of his mouth just waiting to come out…only they got suck along the way.***

PRIEST:  What’s wrong?

***David opens his eyes and shakes his head.***

DUNN:  I don’t even know why I cam here.

***David gets up off the ground and is about to leave when the priest stops him.***

PRIEST:  Why did you come here?  If you were looking for something to settle your problems then this isn’t the place for you.  God helps those who help themselves.

DUNN:  You know what…I’m sick of hearing that shit.  All my life I’ve heard god this and god that…what help has he ever done for me.  Huh?  Something bad happens god works in mysterious way.  Something good happens, it’s god’s will.  God helps those who help themselves…sure.  I’ve busted my ass since birth.  I’ve lead a good life.  I tried to do everything the lord would want me to do…only…only everything about him is a virus.  “Trust in god!”  My trust in him ended a long time ago.

PRIEST:  My son you must have faith.

DUNN:  Faith…faith for a god that has made my life a living hell.  Every turn seems to be a lie.  Then one day I’m revealed the true Truth…and you know what I found out…it’s a virus.  Explain that one father.  Explain why god seemly is never there for you.  But yet everyone wants you to believe in him.

PRIEST:  I don’t have the answers…all I can tell you is to believe.

DUNN:  Great answer…this is why I stopped believing in him along time ago.

***David pushes the priest out of the way and starts making his way to the door.***

PRIEST:  Then why did you come here tonight?

***David stops dead in his tracks.  He turns his head back at the priest.***

DUNN:  I always like giving people second chances…just like I thought…I shouldn’t have.

***David walks out of the church and onto the street, leaving the priest inside confused at what David said and what must be troubling him.***

6:04 am

Baltimore, Maryland

193 Miles to East Rutherford, New Jersey

***The scene reopens as a 18-wheeler pulls up in front of a small diner in the middle of Baltimore.  The side door opens and David steps out.  He nods to the truck drive as he grabs his back and close the door.  The truck honks it horn a few times then drives off.  David throws his bag over his shoulder and makes his way into the diner.  Once in he notices not a lot of people in the diner.  Just a few people at the counter and the people working there.  David makes his way to the back of the diner where he sits down in a corner booth.  A gray hair old waitress walks up to David and hands him a menu.  David hands it back to here.***

DUNN:  Just coffee please.

WAITRESS:  Coming right up.

***The waitress walks away as David leans his head up against the back of the booth seat.***

DUNN:  Almost to Jersey…

***Suddenly David’s cell phone rings.  David reaches into his jacket and pulls his phone out.  The name on the phone reads…”Wilson’s Cell”.  David shakes his head and turns the phone off.***

DUNN:  I don’t feel like talking to him right now.

***David puts the phone back into his jacket.  Right about then the waitress returns with his cup of coffee.  David cracks a smile at her then she walks away.***

DUNN:  It’s always the same…another day…another town…

You never really know what’s going to happen to you one day to the next.  I guess that’s fine for now…but in the long run…it seems almost depressing.  Is this my life?  No.  My life ended the day I was born.  The day that happened it marked the day that one day…my life would end.  So in the mean time what has happened…I’ve suffered.  I suffered everyday from morning to night.  Everyone goes on with there business like if nothing was wrong.  There is though.  They just haven’t gotten it yet.  When your born right after you open your eyes for the first time to see that bright light as you come out of your mother…your days are just plain numbered.  That’s part of the truth about everything in this hell that we call life.  If more people could just understand that one part, then I think a lot of this stupid shit wouldn’t be happening in the world today.  It’s okay I guess…when there time comes they’ll be surprised…like they didn’t know death was coming for them…only…it was…it always was.  They just never noticed him standing behind them as they walked through there short pathetic life.

It’s things you don’t notice that will hurt you I guess.  It’s those little moments where something happens…it was going to happen…but you tell yourself you didn’t know.  So where does that leave you…nowhere.

Static…two men going through life without a clue at what’s standing next to them.  Death itself.  They speak about being good a wrestling…how there unbeatable and what not.  Death doesn’t care how good you wrestle.  Death doesn’t care if you’re good to your parents or made the honor roll at school.  All it cares about is finishing you off when your time is up.  Gentlemen…for one of you…your time is up…I made that perfectly clear before.  Dynamic…I told your path isn’t this.  I wish you would have responded to what I had to say…but alas you didn’t.

When a man walks a path that isn’t his…death is sure to follow.  It’s in death’s nature you see.  A slip on the ropes…SNAP!  Your neck’s broken.  Pyro fires at the wrong time…AHH!  You’re burned to death.  Death moves quickly to those who have chosen the wrong path.  Of course…stepping up against a man who knows the truth…the truth about you…the truth about everything…is equally as dangerous.  Only maybe I think you know this.  Maybe you took my words to heart.  It could be right now that you’ve changed your path…a path that could get you killed…someday…or even tomorrow.  This could be the reason for your silence.  That doubt must have finally rang out of your head making you come to terms with the words that I’ve spoken…the truth….the virus.

I hope this is the case for you Dynamic…I really do.  I meant what I said…I would do everything in my power to show you why the path you are walking is wrong for you.  It’s still not too late if you haven’t realized I’m not playing some stupid childish mind game.  I’m being dead straight with you Dynamic.  Don’t make me do something I might regret.  Don’t make me watch you suffer…it’s not your time yet Dynamic.  You’ll suffer…but it shouldn’t be so soon…sadly…

If you wish…the lesson you were going to learn in the future will be show to you here in the present.  You will suffer…you will feel the same pain as I have…as everyone will…you will learn the ultimate lesson in life…and…in death…

The Truth is a Virus.

***David picks up his coffee and drinks a sip of it.  He leans over the counter and grabs a package of sugar.  David shakes it a bit then opens it up and throws it in his coffee.***

DUNN:  Dynamic…as I’ve said…your path is a failed one…it’s only causing everyone surrounded by you pain.  As your doing to Shaun right now.  He’s young…he’s a rising star in a place surround by darkness.  As you hurt yourself…you hurt him.  He will suffer…but not now…or…maybe he will.  You being by his side only hurts his chances at anything on his path.  So why stay by his side?

Shaun I’m telling you because I see a lot of you in what I use to be.  If you wish to prolong yourself in this world and on your path…let Dynamic just fade away.  The suffering that will follow him is only going to bring you down.  Don’t let it…learn the truth Shaun.  Find out why he’s the virus…find the strength to break free the chains and move on to something better than a man who is still just a scared little boy.

Shaun…this isn’t a mind game…this is the truth…a truth that Dynamic doesn’t want you too hear…a truth he doesn’t even want to hear himself.  Learn the truth…embrace it.  Only then will you start back on your chosen path and leave Dynamic alone where he belongs….away from here.

You must believe these words Shaun…you must.  I speak the truth because I know the truth.  I’m trying to get through to you like I’m sure everyone else has in the past.  It’s already begun but it doesn’t have to end in such a bad way.  You can make it out of this darkness and step up to your rightful place on the path of life.

Now I’m sure your not listening…your dismissing my words as if they were a joke.  There not…I feel I can’t get through to you.  I now have to show you things that he doesn’t want you too see…that he can’t even let himself see.  Tuesday Shaun…Tuesday you will learn that his path is wrong and it’s dragging you down into a pit of suffering you could never imagine.  Pray for yourself Shaun…don’t pray for Dynamic…pray for yourself…he’s already a lost cause…but you…but you are the one who can still go far…pray for the pain to end quickly…pray that you can make it out alive…pray to learn finally…why…the truth is a virus…

…Enough Said…

***The scene fades to black.***
