Everyone likes the underdog.

Everyone that isn’t facing him that is.

7:37 am

***The scene opens with a shot of the Dunn family home in Weslaco Texas.  Slowly the scene moves inward towards the front door.  Outside we can see David is sitting outside smoking a cigarette.  He’s just looking down at the ground blankly with almost no emotion what so ever.  The smoke from his cigarette slowly floats through…***

(FADE THE HELL UP!)

***Chad walks out of the house in his bathrobe and reaches down to get the morning paper.  He picks it up then drops it after noticing David is sitting outside.  Chad shakes his head and sits down next to him.  Chad pats him on his back in a understanding way.***

CHAD:  I know what you must be thinking right now David.

***David looks up at him.***

CHAD:  You must be thinking about how this could possibly be your one and only shot at the National title.  You must be thinking how the odds are stacked against you.  You must be thinking that everyone in the SWF thinks you don’t have a shot in the world at beating Konrad and Kyle.  You must be thinking about all that and more.  Just listen here man.  Your going to prove them all wrong Saturday.  It doesn’t matter what the wrestlers think or what Kyle thinks, or even what your wife thinks.  All that matters is what you think.  I know you think you have one shot, one opportunity, and you don’t want to blow it.  Well deep down I know for a fact you also know you’ll be damned if you lose your shot against a loud ass shit stain, and a man who has past his prime the first day he started in the business.

***For the first time in a while David laughs about what Chad just told him.***

CHAD:  See man.  Doesn’t that feel a lot better?  Just relax and everything will be alright in the end man.  I’m going back inside.  Don’t stay out here to long.  Were going for that run in about thirty minutes.

***Chad gets up and grabs the paper and starts walking back inside when he turns back at David.***

CHAD:  I’m not kidding David.  Thirty minutes and we start a new day.

***Chad walks back inside and closes the door behind him.  Chad turns around and is about to head up to his room when he is stop short by Jeannette.***

CHAD:  Morning.

***Chad starts to walk past Jeannette, when she stops him by grabbing his arm.***

CHAD:  Okay I can sense you want something.

JEANNETTE:  No shit Chad.

CHAD:  I’m standing right here.  Spit out whatever you want to say.

JEANNETTE:  Fine then.  Why can’t David sleep with me at night?  Why does he have to sleep in the living room on the floor alone?

CHAD:  He’s in training Jeannette.  I mean you must want him to win this damn match don’t you?

JEANNETTE:  As I said before, yes I do, but I don’t want a different person than the one I married.

CHAD:  Look him sleeping alone is just apart of the training plans I’m putting him through.  Nothing more.  After the match win or lose the training will be either cut down or raised up a bit.

JEANNETTE:  Hold on.  What do you mean, “raised up a bit”?

CHAD:  Look if he doesn’t win then all this work is for nothing Jeannette.  Your husband’s goals will be smashed to shit.  I don’t want that to happen.  He doesn’t want that to happen.  And by the way your talking to me right now, I guessing you don’t want that to happen.

JEANNETTE:  You still haven’t answered my question.

CHAD:  If he loses then I got to work him harder.  That means he ain’t going to see you all that much.  Why?  Because I’m going to be pushing him to limits that he won’t be ready for.  I said it right, “to limits that he won’t be ready for”.

JEANNETTE:  What kind of friend are you?

CHAD:  A good one.  But business comes before friendship.  Excuse me, but I got to get ready.  David and myself are going on a run to start the day.

***Chad walks past Jeannette and heads up stairs.  Jeannette just stands there looking on at Chad with total disgust in her eyes.***

The SlaughterHouse

***The scene reopens with an aerial shot of a barbwire cage.  It seems to be at least three stories high into the air.  In the middle of the third level Chad sits down on a wooden stool while David stands behind him with his arms crossed.  Around David’s waist is the customized belt that was seen earlier this week.  Chad sits quietly on the stood just looking around the cage.  When he stops and looks straight forward.***

CHAD:  I got up this morning.  Read the paper.  Then went for a little run.  I left David at a gym so he could continue his workout and went back to David’s house.  I got on his computer, checked my mail, and then I almost broke the damn chair I was sitting in when I fell out of it.  Why you ask?  Because I received a nice little e-mail from Chris Carey informing me that David’s match Saturday has changed just a bit.  It seems now instead of David facing Konrad and Kyle in a triple threat match, he has to face them in a handicap match?  What kind of kindergarten bullshit is this?  David has one shot, one damn shot at the National title.  It’s hard enough to beat one person out of a triple threat, now he has to beat both men in an elimination handicap match.  Is this some kind of joke?  Or is it Carey’s way of trying to screw David over?  It doesn’t even really matter.  Carey can try all he wants to hold David down so he can prove he isn’t a man to be messed with.  All David is going to do is prove that he’s someone you don’t fuck with.  Kyle’s going to learn it.  Just like the other person in the match will.

***Chad folds his arms.  Still he looks forward.***

CHAD:  Scott Konrad…a young man that has entered the SWF for gold, fame, and fortune.  For the most part he has done just that.  Scott has yet to face defeat here in the SWF.  Which makes him seem almost unbeatable.  Yet as David has always said, no one is unbeatable.  Not even him.  Kyle proved that.  Yet this is a trying time for Scott for he isn’t only facing the GFF but his own partner.  I’m sure Konrad would be willing to over look some personal issues for the National title…but would Kyle?  He already holds three titles plus the National championship.  I really don’t think one title would really matter to him much.  Do you Konrad?  I mean your both facing David Dunn to keep that National championship.  All one of you has to do is to just pin him once while David has to pin both of you.  Wouldn’t it just be so simple for Kyle to stab you in the back?  Leave you for dead while he walks to the back with his other three titles around his waist?  That’s a big question for you to answer now isn’t it.  Oh by the way, don’t think for one second that if it does happen, and it ten to one will, that David won’t take the chance to knock your ass out to win the match.

***Chad uncrosses his arms and places them on his knees.***

CHAD:  Oh course I could be wrong about that.  I mean we all know that Kyle is upset with David.  Why else would Kyle be running around calling him gay.  Back to the point.  I’m guessing your also pretty upset about last week.  Look, it wasn’t anything personal.  It was just business.  David has nothing against you what so ever.  In fact he helped you out last Saturday.  If he hadn’t beaten you down with that chair then the match would have started.  And there would have been a damn good chance that you would have lost.  Your whole ego is made up with you being undefeated.  Next think you know you’d be drinking and fucking two dollar whores.  Sucking dick for crack…god…David and I couldn’t have you do that to yourself.  So we did the next best thing.  We stopped the match before it took place.  You shouldn’t be mad at him.  You should be thanking him.

***Chad gets up off the stool.  Chad puts his foot on the bottom leg and ties one of his shoes.  He then sits back down.***

CHAD:  Only I don’t think you see it that way.  All you see is David attacking you from behind and leaving you for dead.  Which is totally wrong for you to think that way.  But that’s just my opinion.  Nevertheless, if you feel angry at David for his actions of kindness then so be it.  It’s no big deal to him.  He’s going to face you one or way another.  Happy or not, your in for the most challenging match of your career Konrad.  Forget your all of your great wins here in the SWF.  This Saturday your in for a night to remember.  Either be it because you beat David Dunn aside with a person you don’t care for.  Or because David beat the both of you in one night, in one match.

***Chad gets up and stands next to David.***

CHAD:  Take a good look Konrad.  Take a damn, hard good look.  He’s been waiting for his shot.  Now he has it.  Sadly you happen to be one of the two people that are standing in his way for him to make good with the shot.

***David places it elbow on Chad’s shoulder.***

CHAD:  Enough said.

***The scene fades to black.***
