Halloween Night

***The scene opens as David Dunn is kneeling next to Jeannette who is tied up in a chair.  Last we saw David came into the room and found Jeannette tied up.  He went to untie her when someone came from behind and smashed a chair against David’s back.  David is shocked to find out that Raul wasn’t the murder…it was none other than…***

DUNN:  …Amber.

***Amber Dunn steps out of the shadows with a bloody knife in her right hand and a small black box in the left.***

JEANNETTE:  Your ex?

***Amber smiles and she leans her head to the side gazing at David and Jeannette.***

AMBER:  Welcome to the party David…or should I say, welcome again to the party.

DUNN:  How?  I heard Raul’s voice…

***Amber moves the black box in front of her mouth.***

AMBER (Raul’s voice :  You never watched Scream 3?

***Amber throws the black box in front of David.  David looks down at it and looks back up at Amber.***

DUNN:  Why did you kill all those people?

AMBER:  Ah, I think your looking for a motive.  How about destroying a little part of my life every single day you and I were married.  Is that good enough of a motive for you?

DUNN:  How the hell did I ruin your life?  Because of my career choice?  I never picked what I should be good in or not.  I just happened to be good at wrestling.  I have looked into the deaths of my soul.  I have faced my demons, my nightmares...and my fears.  I have chosen the path of a wrestler, and though I often walk alone, I am focused on my destiny.  Because through all of the trials I have endured, I have learned one thing above all others...my talent is absolute.  There’s nothing I can do about it either.  We don’t pick what were good at, were pick by it at birth.

AMBER:  Walk alone sums it up pretty nicely if you ask me.  You left myself and Wilson all by ourselves.  I needed a husband.  Wilson needed a father.  But we didn’t get that now did we.  Instead we get this person that cares more about what titles he wants, and how much money he’s making, instead of realizing that he has a wife and a son at home that needed him.  You have no idea what you put me through.  Making me watch you every night in the ring.  Then instead of coming home to your family, you decide to go out and drink with your wrestling buddies.  Hell I even remember when you got hurt, no call to home telling us you were alright.  I had to call the damn hospital just to see if you were alive.  You know what that did with my emotions…do you?!

***Amber holds the knife to her head and starts to cry.***

DUNN:  Yeah, I wasn’t the best husband or father in the world, big deal.  It doesn’t give you the right to go screw ball and kill seven people!

***Amber swings the knife to her side.***

AMBER:  Seven?  Oh no, after tonight it’ll be ten.

DUNN:  Ten?

AMBER:  Oh yes, you, your pretty new wife, and your unborn child.

DUNN:  You’ve flipped bitch.

***David gets to his feet and dusts himself off.***

DUNN:  I’ve said I was sorry, there’s nothing I can do to make up for what I did to you or Wilson.  But if you think your getting near my wife, you’ve completely flipped more than you already have.

AMBER:  DIE!!!

***Amber runs at David with the knife in a stabbing motion.  David grabs her arm at the last second and flips her over his shoulder, causing her to drop the knife.  Amber looks up at David from the ground with rage and hate written all over her eyes…and smiles.***

AMBER:  Guess who decided to be a hero.  What are you going to do now?  Kill me?

***David looks down at her with an emotionless face until suddenly he cracks a smirk.***

DUNN:  ….yeah.

***David places his foot on her head and twists, snapping her neck.***

JEANNETTE:  NOOOOOOO!!!!!

***David drops Amber’s lifeless arm and moves his foot off her head.  He walks over next to Jeannette and sits down.  All he does is look at Amber’s dead body with absolutely no feeling what so ever.***

JEANNETTE:  Why did you kill her?  You had her stopped.

***David still looking at Amber’s body slowly opens his mouth.***

DUNN:  Because if I didn’t.  She would have never stopped.  In my life I’ve drove people to do horrible things but nothing like this.  I never thought my actions would hurt so many people in so many ways…

***David turns to Jeannette and lays his head on her lap.***

***The scene reopens with the Dunn family house surround by police officers and a few EMT’s.  Jeannette is talking to one of the officers for a little bit while EMT’s check on a cut she has on her right wrist.  Jeannette nods her head to the officer and goes inside the house.  She walks into the kitchen where she finds David slumped over a breakfast bar with a half empty bottle of Jack Daniel’s in his hand.  Jeannette walks over to him and puts her hand on his shoulder.***

JEANNETTE:  It’s okay honey.  I didn’t tell them how Amber died.

DUNN:  You should have…I don’t care any more.

JEANNETTE:  Sweetie, believe me, I’ll never do anything like that to you.  I promise you that David.

DUNN:  I know…but…that’s not what I’m upset about.

JEANNETTE:  Then what?

***David throws the glass of JD across the room, breaking the glass on the kitchen wall.  David starts to walk out when he turns back to Jeannette.***

DUNN:  I killed an innocent man.  Worse yet, he happen to be one of my best friend.  And for what?  For nothing…

***David storms out of the room as Jeannette looks on with sadness in her eyes.  The scene fades to black.***
