Weslaco, Texas

***The scene opens with a shot of a letter…it seems to be the same letter left to David by Jeannette.  The paper seems wrinkled and wet.  The scene moves back to find that the letter is outside the front of the Dunn family home.  Rain pours down from the sky covering the piece of paper.  Suddenly a slamming noise is heard.  We look at the front door to see David Dunn locking up the door.  He’s wearing a green army jacket with some blue faded jeans.  He also seems to be carrying a green backpack filled with god knows what.  David looks at his keys for a second then throws them far off into his yard.  He takes one more look at his house and walks off.***

New Orleans, Louisiana

***The scene reopens as David walks into the New Orleans city limits.  His clothes look dirty and he looks to be pretty tried.  David continues he’s journey into New Orleans for a few minutes until he reaches an old motel entitled, “The Ragin Cajun!”  David walks into the office where an elderly gentleman sits behind a small wooden disk reading a newspaper.  David puts his bag down and rings the bell on the desk.  The elderly man looks up from his paper and smiles at David.***

E.M.:  Can I help you with something son?

***David reaches to his back pocket and pulls out his wallet.***

DUNN:  Yeah.  I need a room for the night.

***The Elderly man reaches over and grabs a key.  He tosses it over to David.***

E.M.:  Twenty-five dollars a night.  Check out is at noon.  If you have any problems press zero to get me here at the front desk.

***David reaches into his wallet and pulls out twenty-five dollars.  He throws it to the man.  David swipes the key up from the desk.***

DUNN:  Is there a bar close by here?

***The elderly man picks up his paper and begins to read again.***

E.M.:  There’s one about two streets down from here.  It’s called Kelly’s Dive.

DUNN:  Thanks.

***David walks out of the office.  The elderly man goes back to reading.  David finds his room and unlocks the door.  He looks around at the room for a few seconds.***

DUNN:  I’ve seen worse.

***David tosses his bag on the bed and leaves the room.***

“Kelly’s Dive”

***The scene reopens with David sitting down on a bar stool with his head lowered.  To in his right hand is a half empty glass.  In the other is a half empty bottle of Jack Daniel’s.  The bartender passes David a few times looking at him.  He really doesn’t bother him only he wonders what seems to be bothering him so much to be drinking alone.  The bartender walked up to David and was about to say something only when he opens his mouth David looked up at him…***

DUNN:  What?

***The bartender shook his head as if he didn’t have anything to say then walked away.***

DUNN:  Oh Jack…

***David finishes off whatever was left in his glass then poured himself another.  A smile formed on David’s face as he thought about something…only…suddenly his smile disappeared…the cold emotionless stare formed back on his face as whatever made him smile ended with a sour note.  He turned his head to the back of the bar where a woman’s voice could be hurt screaming, “No!”.  David got off his stool and stood straight up.  Looking across the room he saw a man grabbing a woman’s hand, forcing her to sit down next to him.  The woman tried to break free but the man was seemingly too strong for her.  David calmly walked over to the man and looked down on him.  The man looked up at David with drunken blood shot eyes.***

MAN:  What do you want?!

DUNN:  I believe the woman said no.

MAN:  Get the fuck out of my face before I fuck you up man.

***David quickly moved over behind the man and slammed his face into the table causing him to let go of the woman.  She quickly ran away from the man side to behind David.***

MAN:  You son of a bitch!

***The man lifted his head off of the table and got right into David’s face.***

MAN:  You shouldn’t have done that.

DUNN:  I don’t have a problem with you unless you want me to.

MAN:  Oh you got a damn big problem now…

***The man swings at David but he ducks the punch and nails him with a sharp upper cut to the ribs.  The man dumps over onto another table holding his side.  David turns around to check on the woman…***

DUNN:  Are you okay Miss?

***The man leaps up from behind but David was waiting for him and grabs him by his shirt collar and throws him head first into one of the walls in the bar.  He falls with blood seeping from his forehead.  David shakes his head at him then turns back to the woman.***

DUNN:  Now as I was saying…are you okay miss…?

ANN:  It’s Ann…and yeah I’m fine.  Now.  Thank you so much sir.

DUNN:  Don’t worry about it.  I’ve handled worse people than that before.

***David goes back to his bar stool.  He finishes off another glass then pours himself another.  Ann walks up next to him and sits next to him.***

ANN:  How can I repay you?

***She thinks for a brief second.***

ANN:  How about I buy you a drink?

***David holds up the bottle of Jack Daniel’s.***

ANN:  Oh, well is there anything I could do to repay you?

DUNN:  Don’t worry about it.  I was glad of helping.  Just call it my good deed for the day.

ANN:  Oh come on.  There’s got to be something I can do to repay you…you…I never caught your name.

DUNN:  Never gave it.

ANN:  Oh…well…

***Ann is about to get off the stool next to David…***

DUNN:  It’s David.

ANN:  David…David…you look like someone…oh…someone on TV…damn I just can’t place your face.

DUNN:  It’s cool.

***David finishes off another glass.***

ANN:  That’s where!  Your name wouldn’t be David Dunn would it?

***David starts pouring himself another drink.***

DUNN:  Sadly…

***David puts the bottle back down on the counter.***

ANN:  Wow.  What brings you to New Orleans?

DUNN:  Heading up to Minnesota.

ANN:  You on a bus or something?

DUNN:  No I’m hitchhiking.

ANN:  Why?  I don’t mean to be rude or anything but you have to be making millions.  Why would you hitch-hike?

***David looks up from his glass.***

DUNN:  Don’t know…just felt like it I guess.  Maybe to get my personal life in order a little bit.  It seem every time I think I have found of the truth I find out the truth is a virus.

ANN:  A virus?

DUNN:  Look…I helped you out okay.  I really don’t want to go into any of this right now.  If you want to repay me…just leave me be.

ANN:  Oh, I’m sorry…

***Ann gets off her stool.***

ANN:  …thanks for the help.  I hope everything works out for you in the end.

DUNN:  So do I.

***Ann walks out of the bar.  David sits there looking at the bottle of Jack.  It seems almost empty.  David opens it and pours the rest into his glass.  The bartender comes by and takes the bottle.  David nods at the bartender as he finishes off the rest of his glass.***

New Orleans, Louisiana

“The Ragin Cajun Motel”

“Room 107”

***The scene reopens in David’s motel room.  David is lying on the motel bed with his arms relaxed behind his head as he looks straight up at the fan slowly turning around.  David inhales deeply then exhales.***

DUNN:  The truth…the truth is never what it seems.  There are always two truths to everything.  Show me a man that knows the truth…and…I’ll show him that it’s a virus.  It’s wrong.  It’s distorted.  It’s what he wants the truth to be…not what the truth is.  I was like that once.  I thought I knew the truth…but I didn’t.  The truth I knew was something I didn’t like…I would even go as far as to say that I hated it.  So when I found out the true truth…it wasn’t something I hated…or didn’t like…it was something I couldn’t deal with.  And so now my journey begins…

***David tries to fall asleep but can’t his eyes open to see the ceiling fan once more.***

DUNN:  I’m not the only man that has the wrong idea of what the truth is about.  There are others…right off the top of my head I can think of one right now… Walker.

Listen…no…shut the fuck up for once in your life and listen to what I have to say Walker.  You’re making a mistake here.  You’re making a very big mistake.  No not about thinking your going to make an impact against me or thinking your hot shit.  You’re making a mistake at who you are.  Because when I look into your eyes, you know what I see.  I see a scared little boy who doesn’t know what is real and what’s a lie.  I’m sure when you were growing up your parents told you that you could be anything that you wanted to be.  I bet your were a good student in school who had dreams oh becoming a great star.  I even bet you really think of yourself as the god of the world of wrestling.

The Truth is a Virus.

Your parents lied Walker.  You can’t be anything you want to be…all you can be is something they want you to be.  It’s never what you want…it’s what they want.  If your lucky though…you’ll break out of there control and be what you want to be…only…it’s not that simple.  That little voice of doubt rings in your head telling you that your parents wanted more for you.  They had a plan for you…now…now all you are to them is a disappointment.  It’s that little bit of doubt that kills a person…until he finds out the truth that is…once the truth is unleashed it makes it all but worse.  Then the doubts start to get worse…”Did I choose the wrong path?”  “Maybe my parents were right?”  They’ll build and build until one day you snap…you’ll walk around on this planet we call hell trying to figure out what is the truth and what is a lie…or better known as a virus.

You’ll respond with something witty or strong about how I don’t know what I’m talking about.  That’s sad really.  You know the doubt’s there Walker…you know it but you won’t let yourself admit it.  That’s okay though.  It’ll come in time.  Everything does you know.  It could be tomorrow or the next day…or after our match.  One way or another you’ll learn this isn’t where you belong.  That your whole life is a lie…a virus…that’s when the truth will come…that’s when, if you’re lucky, your life will end.  The truth is far more painful than death.  I should know…

The scared little boy inside you is screaming to get out Walker…it wants to hide…it wants to run away from the path your living.  I wish you could realize this…I guess everyone has to suffer time to time to learn the lesson so many other people have learned…sometimes it’s best to just give up rather than continue on a path that with either cause you more pain…or kill you.

At Riot…if you haven’t came face to face with your doubts or the truth…I guarantee that I’ll do everything in my power to show you why the path you’re walking is a lie…and why the truth is a virus…

***David sits up from the bed and looks across the dark room.  Shadows over come everything in sight.***

DUNN:  Wrec…poor young Wrec.  So young…so innocent.  He doesn’t know the ways of the world yet.  When I look into his eyes I see that this path that he’s decided to follow is right.  That someday all of his dreams and hopes might come true.  But just as his partner…he doesn’t know the truth…he hasn’t come face to face with virus.

By now you must be asking the question…what is the virus that he speaks of.  The virus is what eats away at you…it’s the lie that you hide from yourself and the rest of the world.  It’s the thing that makes you want to die and live at the same time.  The virus is very simply…everything.  Money…animals…people…water…all of it is a virus.  It all sucks you dry and in the end you are left with nothing.  That’s the truth of it all.  The truth is a virus…the sooner you both learn that the better off you’ll be.

Wrec…your so young…yet…you’ve gone so far in such a quick time.  Even knowing the path you walk is righteous doesn’t make you any more immune to the truth than any one else.  You built your life on simple rules and goals that your going to try to follow out.  Only it doesn’t work like that any more.  There’s always going to be something, or someone standing in your way.  This week it’s me next week it could be Blood or god…it doesn’t matter in the end.  When the truth is shown to you, you’ll know full well at what you must do.  What you were born to do…suffer.

That’s what life is all about now isn’t it.  Suffering.  You’re a champion one day…you’re a bum the next.  Life will keep throwing you everything it’s got to hurt you…to make you suffer.  Only in your case…I think you got a while before the suffering begins.  But when it does come for you…don’t act surprised…or shocked…because I just told you about what’s to come.  This week I am the roadblock…

So why do I go on?  I go on for the chance that one day…my suffering…my pain…the truth…the virus…will all go away.  I’m living in my hell right now Wrec.  It’s something I don’t wish upon you.  But, sadly, at Riot, your going to get just a little piece at what I’m going through.  I can’t tell you to be prepare…it won’t help.  All I ask for you is too pray…pray that I don’t do something in the heat of the moment that could hurt you.  I wouldn’t want your suffering to come earlier than it’s suppose to.  You still have a long life ahead of you…I won’t want to be the person to cut it short.

***David lays back down on the bed.  Once again he looks up at the ceiling fan slowly going around and around.***

DUNN:   There is someone I wouldn’t mind cutting there life short though…Jake Blood.

Everyone thinks that I hate Blood…that after what he’s done to me I want some kind of revenge…you got me wrong.  Blood is someone I admire.  He’s suffered…he’s seen why the truth is a virus.  That’s what he’s all about.  Back before I knew the truth…I was a lot like everyone else.  I wanted revenge against someone who hurt me.  Now that time has pasted…Blood and myself have played a game of who can top this.  Only…now…I know it’s not a game…for Jake it was never a game.  He wanted to show me the truth…it took a while…but it worked.

Now…I’m not out to hurt Blood…I’m out to repay him.  He showed me new deeps of suffering…or pain…of the virus.  Now as time has pasted…I’ve learned more than he ever has…I’ve learned the whole truth.  Now it’s my turn to show Jake the truth…the games are over…the gloves are off.  I’m going to show him everything that he through was the whole truth was nothing more than just a part of it.

Funny when you think about it…how someone like me can admire someone like him…don’t worry though…he’ll soon admire me…that’s when things will really become funny…It’s only a matter of time…

***David turns his head slowly popping his neck.***

DUNN:  So many people…so many lies…none of them know the truth…but soon…soon they’ll all learn that it’s all a virus.

…Enough said….

***The scene fades to black.***
