HANDBOOK FIGHTS HOME
Our Club is
designed to be a Wrestling Neighborhood or Wrestling Community.
So we use the
following terminology:
‘Community’ means the Club or all the membership.
‘Family’ means Family Members of a Wrestler Member
‘Neighbor’ means a Club Wrestler Member
‘Fight’ means a Wrestling bout and also a series consisting of several
Wrestling bouts between the same two men.
‘Social’ means an event or meet or session of the Club where a minimum
number of Wrestler Members gather and some wrestle Fights.
When two
neighbors meet or are together in the neighborhood, they want to FIGHT. The BWC
channels this desire into three kinds of Fights called Neighborhood Social
Wrestling.

This is the ultimate fight in the Community for two Wrestlers. One Wrestler establishes “permanent” Submission over another. The winner has to be acknowledged as Superior by the Loser in the Community.
The wrestlers fight for submission until the Community accepts that one Wrestler is fully Superior and the other is in Submission Status as a Wrestler. The loser can challenge to reverse this status only after showing considerable Wrestling improvement in fights with other Wrestlers.
Fight Attire
is strictly only close fit jeans jerkin and swim briefs (Speedos, fight
specified) only.
Wrestle on beach or moveable/ expandable mats laid out in large area.
Wrestlers
who want to fight for Submission must get Community approval for the
fight. This is done through the Club
Wrestling Captain’s Office. They must
select a set of persons from the Community who represent a balance and are
approved by the Captain (Fight Board) to accept the fight and see it
through. They do this by convincing
their neighbors that
1
The Fight will
be a keen one
2
The result of
win or loss is meaningful to the Wrestlers.
The wrestlers gain this group by wrestling at Socials.
The Community
will then invite the Wrestlers to Fight for Submission in a series where they
will provide facilities and minimum audience and public viewing. The two wrestlers will agree to timing of
fights and neighbors will help organize each fight. At each fight, they will wrestle till one of them concedes a
submission FALL for each Set of that Fight.
Standard Wrestling Rules of Hermes Beach apply. Modification for Submission fights is mainly that a Wrestler has to gain certain riding time and points in a Set before he can gain a valid Fall. Further, for the end of a Submission Set the Fall must be a Submission Fall as specified in the Rules.
Wrestling is not space bound and the fight must go on; if they reach a practical bound, by continuing wrestling against a real wall or neighbor set up artificial bound.
Wrestling is not time restricted and the fight must go on till one Wrestler wins by a valid SUBMISSION FALL.
Each session
Fight is for Falls leading to SUBMISSION by Submission Falls and cannot end
except by the submission of one to the other.
The wrestling has no time or space limits and must be wrestled to a
finish at each fight session.
The Fight Board will watch all the fights and look at Falls scored, Points scored and their trends before a collective decision when Submission has been clearly established and the fight should end. They will then give a final fight of three or five sets that the winner must win to end the series. This decision is final.
This is the normal “Meet” fight in the Community. The winner is accepted as Superior at the time of fight by the Community.
The wrestlers fight for a Fall for each Set of the Superiority Fight. The fight can be for the best of one, three or five sets. The loser can challenge to reverse this status on another day.
Tournaments and Family Meets feature Superiority Fights.
When two Wrestlers are engaged in a Submission Fight, their family wrestlers are expected to wrestle for Superiority at that time in Family Meets. Friends of each may also fight Superiority bouts at that time.
Fight Attire
is strictly only swim briefs (Speedos, fight specified) only.
Wrestle on beach or moveable/ expandable mats laid out in large area.
Wrestlers who want to fight for Superiority must get approval for the fight. This is given by the Club Captain’s Office and the persons in charge of the venue of the fight.
The Venue Host
will invite the Wrestlers to Fight where they will provide facilities and
minimum audience and public viewing.
The two wrestlers will agree to timing of fight and neighbors will help
organize each fight.
Standard Wrestling Rules of Hermes Beach apply. The modification for Superiority fights is mainly that a Wrestler has to gain certain riding time and points before he can gain a valid Fall.

Wrestling is not time restricted and the fight must go on till one Wrestler wins by a valid FALL.
Each session
Fight ends only when Superiority by Falls has been established.
This is the normal fight wrestled whenever two Wrestlers meet. The Wrestlers test themselves with some wrestling. It is a purely social matter. It is normal social behavior in the Community to wrestle a Western whenever two Wrestlers meet and are going to be at that place for a short while, for instance while wives and children chat/ shop/ work/ take a class.
Wrestlers may also call each other to meet for a Western at a specified time and place as well as wrestle a western at casual meeting or a neighborhood social.
Frequently, Wrestlers meet at public events or while on the beach and wrestle a Western. These are the fights at public places that others have seen of the Community when they are at a public event or area.
If a Western generates some heat, it is normal for the Wrestlers to wrestle a Superiority Fight at a later date. This can in turn lead to a Submission Fight.
Fight Attire
may be
1
Swim
briefs (Speedos, fight specified) or
2
Wrestling
jeans and jeans jerkin or top or
3
Swim
briefs with jeans jerkin or top only.
Wrestle on beach or other safe area.
No approvals are
needed.
The two Wrestlers
need to agree to fight.
At a venue, if
there is space, room must be given for the fight.
Community members
are obliged to find the wrestlers the space and conditions for the fight.
Standard Wrestling Rules of Hermes Beach apply.
Wrestling is not space bound and the fight must go on; if they reach a practical bound, by continuing wrestling against a real wall or neighbor set up artificial bound.
Wrestling is restricted by time to a time agreed by the Wrestlers and the Community person officiating. The following table applies on time.
Adults normal 20 minutes Maximum 35 minutes
Seniors 15 20
Juniors 10 15
Kids 5 10
Each session
Fight ends on a Fall or time limit.
Winner is by a
Fall or Points Superiority.
If
at the time limit, the Wrestlers are at a Draw, the official will not whistle
the end but keep the fight open till a lead point is scored; and if the
wrestlers are in a Fall Move, keep the fight open till the Fall is scored or
the Fall Move Broken.
Leisure Wrestling is simply wrestled like a Western without points keeping and with modifications of reduced techniques allowed, etc.
Wrestling shoes may be worn, but useful only when wrestling off the sand.
Knee pads, elbow pads and other protection may be worn but are likely to cause more harm than good in beach use.
Wrestler
members will normally wrestle at least Three Westerns at a Social, if they are
not fighting a Submission or Superiority.
On an average day, Wrestler members will have about three fights as
Westerns or their equivalent.
In one day,
Wrestlers will fight only once with another specific Wrestler except sometimes
when in a Submission Series.
If two
Wrestlers fight more than three Westerns within a week, the wrestlers are
expected to wrestle a Superiority Fight.
If two Wrestlers
fight more than 3 Superiority Fights within two weeks, the wrestlers are
expected to wrestle a Submission Fight.
