The scene starts inside of an empty gym. Empty except for the ring that sits in the middle of the gym and the small bleachers that surround it. The gym is slightly illuminated by the sun from the outside and the gym is left with the lights off. The light from the outside shines into the ring and inside of that ring lurks a figure .. running in place .. taking bumps .. practicing different stances .. inside that ring lurks Bret Hart in some blue sweat pants and a sweaty gray t-shirt. Bret stands up and uses the ropes to keep himself up. He then turns himself around and throws punches into the air .. stiring up some dust floating in the air. Bret then jumps up and down a couple times before turning around towards the camera that was facing him. Bret slowly looks at the camera and then throws his hair back behind his shoulder and speaks for the first time.
'Bret Hart': I've achieved alot in my career that some would call admirable. I've given my life to this business and have given all of me inside of rings like these. I've stepped into the squared circle to take part in some of the best matches this sport has even seen take place. And amongst it all .. won championships .. won matches .. and won respect. But apparently that wasn't enough. Apparently Shane McMahon, Vince McMahon, and Ted Dibiase see it fit that I earn my keep like everyone else does. Now I know some of you are probably thinking .. 'But Bret .. this is a landmark promotion and everyone should start at the bottom their first time and slowly but surely work their way up'. Well to those with that point of view .. you're wrong. While ECE may be some kind of an example of a landmark promotion .. I'm a landmark wrestler. While ECE lasted for a period of time a couple years back .. my career spans almost thirty years back. I've won championships that some of those young punks that will partake in the next show couldn't even dream of winning. What's my reward for all of that? Wrestling in a filler match. A match that resembles the arena I'm in .. empty .. and dark. While we all get to see John Cena sell his T-Shirts and get rewarded with a main event .. a legend like myself has to wrestle in a match that will take place while fans are still taking their seats. Tell me where the justificiation is in that.
Strong words by Bret as he slowly steps back and stares at the ground. Bret then raises his hands and looks back up at the camera.
'Bret Hart': I guess that decision goes to show that all families are alike in one way or another. Take my family for instance. Strong, patriarchal values .. spectacular in ring performers .. trainers of some of today and yesterday's greatest mat technicians. A family that consists of men who have literally given their life to this business. A family that consists of successfull, entertaining wrestlers whom have seen the best this business has to offer. Then you look at a family like the McMahons. Just like your father Shane .. you must take pride in screwing Bret Hart. You must take pleasure in watching the man that made your dad able to shove that silver spoon down your worthless mouth participate in a filler match. It's OK though. Because Shane .. success speaks for itself. It may take awhile. It may take me having to live up to the monicker besotwed upon me .. The Hitman .. to get your attention. But as the victories and the bodies rack up Shane .. you'll be left with no choice but to reward me with what is rightfully mine. I feel like I have to prove myself now that I've entered the eCe. And I don't like that. So starting at X Rated.. and continuing until I become the Worlds Heavyweight Champion .. slowly but surely I will pick apart this roster .. and I will not show any mercy. I'm the excellence of execution .. the hitman .. and if I have to prove that once again to you .. then I surely will.
Bret then places his hands on his hips and takes slow but deep breaths before shaking his head in disgust and speaking again.
'Bret Hart': It's not bad enough that I'm ruining my legacy by participating in a filler match. I happen to look upon the card and see my opponent. I understand the storylines you're trying to flare up Shane. It's not easy to fool Bret Hart. You're trying to turn it into a match at the disadvantage of myself. So what that means Shane .. is that I'll have to take out your precious Ric Flair.. and while no one may see it .. Flair shall definitely feel it.
Bret lowers his arms down and uses them as he speaks.
'Bret Hart': Which leads me to the first opponent: Ric Flair. Ric you and I are no strangers to eachother. You claim to be loved by the fans. But the fans don't love you because you're not a wrestler the fans can be proud of. You walk out here with your boring music .. your cheap tactics.. and your complete disrespect for this sport. I don't appreciate that. The fans can't like someone like you. You're a PUNK Ric! And you know what I do to punks? I teach them what the name Excellence of Execution is about. Our paths have crossed many times before Ric. And let's just say that a certain match with myself .. MADE YOU. If it wasn't for Bret Hart .. you'd still be a nothing .. a nobody. You'd be a man who's fighting for a lost cause.. I made you Ric! You're famous because I took you inside of this ring .. and brought you to hell and back. I took you to school Ric. You're famous because I made you tap out to the Sharpshooter. You're famous .. because of a loss. And you want me to respect you? You want those fans to respect you Ric? It won't happen. Not under my watch.
Bret then takes a step forward and rests his hands on the top rope.
'Bret Hart': Ric people look at our feud and call it the climatic point of your career. They call it the turning point of yours .. and the downhill spiral of mine. Well let me ask you this Ric. Why is this so? Because if I remember correctly .. everytime we stepped into that ring I defeated you. I showed you exactly what it is I was made of and I defeated you at every given opportunity. And that made you a star? You're pathetic! You're a big name because I let you become one. If not for me Ric you'd still be wrestling DDP and your son. Ric I don't respect you .. and the smart fans don't respect you. When you walk out there and make your disparaging remarks about this person .. and that person .. and that one can kiss this .. that one can do that .. Ric none of that fancy talk means anything to Bret Hart. I am the greatest technical wrestler in the history of the sport. I have respect for other good wrestlers and those who respect the people around it. I have respect for men .. who don't walk around cheating to win. I'm a man who has moral values .. and a man who will once again show you why they refer to me as the excellence of execution.
Bret then steps back from that bottom rope and walks backwards into the middle of the ring .. raising his arms as if to say "bring it". Bret then taps his chest a couple times before speaking again.
'Bret Hart': What a crock! Flair is just a punk that I will take great pride in defeating next Friday night. Flair you claim to be a legend .. I take great pride in respect for your country. As a proud citizen of the province of Canada .. I really don't pay too much attention to the nation that is the United States of America. But I did happen to look over your background .. You once turned on your own son just to be World Champion. That's a punk move Ric! I can understand why acting like a coward may be something you don't want to talk about Ric .. so I won't dwell on it too much .. but I will ask of you to please .. not sign up for this match .. come into my domain .. and then run away after I'm finished with you. Actually .. come to think of it .. you won't be able to run away after I lock in the sharpshooter. I'll make you quit in the form of a TAP right inside the middle of this ring.
Bret then lowers his head in the middle of the ring before again speaking.
'Bret Hart': Flair how are you a star of this business? Because of your surroundings! The Four Horsemen is the reason you're here Ric. After the antics you've pulled .. you shouldn't be anywhere a wrestling ring. The wrestling ring is not a place for immature childish men .. it's a place of business and a place where action will take place and where bodies and spirits will be broken. I would tell you to ask your partner that Ric .. but quite frankly .. you're still around because your buddy made a living out of being your whipping boy. Ric you won't come out here trying to make an example out of me. Because I'm Bret Hart and ..
Bret then places his hands back on his hips.
'Bret Hart': And you're a legend ? How are you a legend Flair? Because you cheat to win? Because you spit on the legacy left by this sport? Well you know what I do to disrespectful punks like you? I make examples out of them. I see to it that people like you learn to respect those who you should idolize .. and I see to it that even if you don't respect those people .. then you inevitably feel the pain of not respecting those people. Because Flair.. the other men that you've picked on and poked at like a third grade bully .. they may not be able to take you down .. but in this situation .. you've certainly bitten off more than you could chew. I'll see to it that there's no way you leave that ring without giving me the respect I'm due and that I deserve from a nobody like you.
Bret then once again lowers his hands and uses them to speak once again.
'Bret Hart': So as Saturday approaches .. and as the match takes place .. I want you to think long and hard and countdown the days that you have left to survive. Because I'm the greatest mat technician to ever grace the squared circle. I'm the excellence of execution .. and I am a legend amongst legends. The fact that this match is a filler match fuels the fire that burns inside of me .. and forces me to make examples out of you. To send a message to Shane McMahon .. and to send a message to a disrespectful punk like you who ruin the sport that I love .. I'll have to nearly cripple you . I don't like to show mercy .. because usually it backfires. But for your sake .. you better pray to the man upstairs that I'm in a good mood .. and that I don't have to take it to the next level. Because right now .. I'm not in a good mood .. and as of right now .. I don't like to lie so I'm gonna be blunt about this .. your career will be ended!! And there's no reason to doubt me Ric. There's no reason to doubt me Nature Boy. Because the track record speaks for itself. And the treack records says that I am
The Best There Is
The Best There Was
And
The Best There Ever Will Be!!!
Clearly having gotten his point across .. Bret slowly points at himself and snares into the camera as the camera zooms into the expression on his face before it slowly fades to black on the snare of the Hitman.
