Recently I sat down with Brian Blade to see just what the new boss had to say about the future of the BTWF and a little about himself.
Q: First off, everyone knows that Brian Blade has wrestled for many different promotions throughout the world. More likely more than anyone on the BTWF roster ever has or will. Out of all of those, could you tell us your favorite and a little about it?
BB: My favorite promotion... That would have to be Grand Tour Wrestling, or gTw for short. Why? Well, they gave me the ball as far as carrying the company on my back, and I ran with it for several months. I owe alot of my superstardom to Brian Papa and Tristan Crocker for giving me that shot.
Q: We have already seen you use the new power you have obtained in the BTWF. In what other ways will you use it to shape the BTWF, now and in the future?
BB: What I plan on doing to the BTWF is emphasizing the WRESTLING here. Too often I see people in power try and pander to the lowest common denominator to gain approval. For me, that won't be the case. For example, everyone saw how I shot down the Bra and Panties match. Here's why... I watch wrestling to see wrestling. If I want to see beautiful women in skimpy clothes, I read Playboy.
Q: What do you think of the current state of the BTWF and of its current Champions?
BB: I think that since I've taken over, BTWF has grown as far as it's organization... It's risen from the ashes, like the phoenix, into being the most dominant wrestling organization around. And we have SOME great champions to lead us there.
Well, first we have Big Daddy... He's a man who knows how to rile a crowd up. He's the type of person that you build companies behind, because people will pay to see him get his just desserts. When he doesn't, the crowd will build up another person to try and take him down. It's a fact, wrestling companies are more interesting when heels are champions.
Omega... Like Big Daddy, he has a brain. He knows he's disliked, so he gets a pair of giants as his backup. That's a page out of my own playbook, ain't that right Jack?
As far as the Rap and Cat Connection goes, they're typical faces. They like thier cheers and try thier best to please the crowd rather than attempting to get an edge on thier opponents. Also, on a personal note, Tiger really pisses me off. He's got a very high and mighty attitude to him.
Shady, on the other hand, is a whiny bitch... He doesn't like the fact that he has to wrestle against 3 very capable wrestlers inside my Scramble Cage. Well... tough. He's got to realize that when you have a title belt, you've got a giant target on you.
Q: Are there any matches you would like to see made while you are in charge of the BTWF? Anyone you yourself would like to have a match with?
BB: I would like to see HBK get his ass kicked for keeping me from the World Title... But, I'm going to see that this week on Madness. No, what I want to see, in general, is competitive wrestling. No sportz entertainment garbage... As far as wrestling, I wouldn't mind wrestling against Big Daddy, Omega, or even Steve Twist. As stupid as he is for trying to please the crowd, I can see some talent in him...
Q: Besides yourself, who do you consider your favorite BTWF wrestler in terms of skill?
BB: Besides myself? Aww... Well, if you put it like that, I'll still go with Big Daddy... He's got the perfect combo of attitude outside the ring and skills in the ring to go far.
Q: Who do you think has the potential right now to become a big name in the BTWF?
BB: Zero... That guy reminds me of a wrestler I once fought against named Erebus. Mystery men sell well. Remember how much people paid to see The Undertaker.
Q: How do you plan on handling unruly individuals in the BTWF?
BB: Simple really... I'll stick them in the ring with Frosty here. He can deliver a beating that even I cannot give.
Q: Now for a couple of fun questions, what would you consider to be your favorite movie of all time? How about your favorite type of music or favorite band?
BB: Oh good, some fun questions. I was waiting for some of these... My favorite movie of all time... Well, besides the Dry Wars Trilogy, which was directed by me and starred me, I'll go with Kill Bill. Something about it keeps me watching. Musically, I'm a metalhead... I love Metallica, AC/DC, Static-X, Killswitch Engage, OTEP, and Rage Against The Machine... It's a shame they broke up too.
Q: Now, one final question that I had to ask because of who it came from, how did you feel about having to cheat in order to beat HBK?
BB: First of all, if you must know, my feet being on the ropes was all your fault HBK. Had you not been such a penny-pincher, maybe you could have gotten a bigger ring. I mean, a person of my great stature could not be held in such a small space. Anyway, look at the tape, you'll see that every time I pinned you, my feet were outside of the ring!
Now, if I WAS going to cheat in the match, I'd simply call it Creative Sportsmanship... It's a tough world, and sometimes the only way to win is to rig the game.
I'm going to institute a tradition here, and name the next interview... And I want to hear from, who else, Big Daddy. He's the World Champion, and he deserves to be heard.
