September 6, 2003 APW Redemption

The first APW Redemption after the shakeup in the NWA front office comes live from the CajunDome in Lafayette, Louisiana!  Curt Murdock starts the show off with a new title belt in one hand and a microphone in the other.  Murdock holds up the title and announces that the control of the NWA Mid South Heavyweight title has been granted to APW, and that the Mid South champion would be crowned here tonight in a 10 man battle royal!  Murdock also announces that APW has signed some of the biggest names in the business, and one of them is none other than NWA World TV champion Kurt Angle!  The Olympic Hero is on the AlphaTron from Cuba.  Angle promises the fans that after tonight, their Olympic Hero will be coming to APW and showing the APW roster who the greatest wrestler of all time is.

A big match to start off Redemption, with the winner going on to next week to meet Jeff Hardy for the Lightweight title, with Scoot Andrews, Vito Thomaselli, and Brian XL in a triple threat match.  Thomaselli comes up with the upset as he rolls up Brian XL for the win.
Thomaselli over Brian XL via pinfall in 9:01 (roll up)

Kevin Northcutt is warming up backstage for his first match since losing to Spike Dudley for the Alpha title.  He finishes loosening up and tightens up his elbow pad and heads for the ring.  A single menacing figure stands in the shadows as Northcutt walks off.

Northcutt comes out to face off against Gangrel.  Northcutt goes to make short work of Gangrel, but the figure that was behind Northcutt comes running out.  The Man Beast, Rhyno slides into the ring and nails Northcutt with a Gore, folding him in half.  Gangrel staggers to his feet and falls victim to another Gore, and Rhyno throws him out of the ring.
Northcutt and Gangrel no contest in 4:12 (interference)

As the referees try to restore order to the ring, Rhyno gets a microphone and stands over the fallen Northcutt.  He tells the big man that it's not over, and slams a boot into him.  Rhyno stares out into the crowd as he somewhat composes himself.  He looks to the back and says that if any man has the guts to face The Man Beast that he won't be too hard to find.  Cut to the backstage, where Sylvain Grenier and Rene Dupree are exhorting each other to go out and have a good match.

Curt Murdock comes out before the next match and declares that the winner of the next match between La Resistance, Al Snow and Maven, and the Hardy Boyz will go on to face the Dudley Boyz next week on Redemption for the right to compete for the NWA World Tag Team titles on September 20 in Ruston!

The triple threat tag team match starts out absolutely on fire as all three teams wear on each other.  Maven and Al Snow isolate Rene Dupree and almost have the pinfall before Matt Hardy breaks up the fall.  Maven and Snow both get taken to the outside, and as the referee is distracted, William Regal comes through the crowd and grabs the French flag to clock both of the Hardys!  Dupree picks up the fall over Jeff for the win.
La Resistance wins via pinfall in 11:09 (pinfall)

Dupree and Grenier celebrate in the ring as Regal bows respectfully to the two young men.  He walks over and grabs a microphone.  He introduces himself to the crowd, and says that the biggest thing missing from the area that APW promotes in is gentlemen.  He announces that as of tonight, a group specifically designed to fill that void has been formed with himself and these two young men:  The Distinguished Gentlemen.

Chris Nowinski defends his newly won Omega title against Kenny Omega.  Omega puts up a good fight but Nowinski hits a double underhook DDT to pick up the win.
Nowinski over Omega via pinfall. in 8:13 (double underhook DDT)

Curt Murdock chases down Rhyno backstage.  He tells Rhyno how impressed he was with his debut here tonight that he was going to include him in the battle royal for the Mid South title.  Rhyno thanks Murdock and tells him that he won't be sorry with tonight's results.  In their locker room, Paul Blake and Ken Jansen finish lacing up their boots to face off against the Dudley Boyz for the tag titles.

The technically sound team of Blake and Jansen take it to the champions early and often, but the long years of tag team chemistry of the Dudleys pays off in the end as they hit a 3-D on Blake to pick up the win.
The Dudley Boyz over Blake and Jansen via pinfall in 12:54 (3-D)

Blake and Jansen make their way to the back, shaking their heads all the way.  As they are almost back to their locker room, they pass the unmistakable dreadlocked figure of Booker T!  Book smiles and nods as he walks on by.  Blake turns to Jansen and says "Tell me I didn't just see that."  They meet up with good friend Vic Vary, who is on his way to face off against Spike Dudley for the Alpha title.  Jansen wishes Vary good luck as he heads on out.

Vary and Spike tear into each other for the biggest prize in APW today.  The match swings back and forth for the entire time of the match, and just as Vary looks to be gaining the advantage, the bell rings for the time limit draw.
Spike Dudley draw Vic Vary in 30:00 (time limit)

Booker T walks down to the ring, in his ring attire.  He thanks the fans for the absolutely ridiculous standing ovation.  Curt Murdock steps up on the stage and cuts off Booker before he can start, and says that yes, he will be in the battle royal.  Appeased, Book steps back and waits for the other competitors.
