When we think of the pro-wrestling superstars that have reached their
full potential and made their dreams of winning a world title a reality,
names like Steve Austin, the Rock, Booker T, Mic Foley, and Shawn
Michaels may come to mind. But what young, up and coming talent that
haven't reached the top yet. The mid-carders as their so often called.
Here's a list of twenty of them and my two cents:
1.Mike Awesome:At 6'4'' 270lbs, just as his name states. He's a two time
ECW World champ and a guy who can make a name for him self quick in a
promtion just as he did winning the Hardcore title in his first TV
appearence. I have no doubt that this man will be world champ some day
with WCW or WWF, simply because of raw talent. Has some things to work
on but with time (2 or 3 years) he will be headlining a PPV.
2.Hugh Morrus:I've never really been big on this guy. He has some good
moves but I think he has trouble pulling an angle together. Usually when
this guy is on I turn the channel to soft core porn on HBO or a new
reality show.
3.Chris Jericho:This guy is deservingly already headlining some shows.
He is gifted in all aspects of the sport and his love for it seems to
come out in every match or promo.
4.Billy Kidman:A great Cruiser Weight but in my mind that should be it.
I think it's ridiculous to have this guy beating the shit out of a 275
pounder. I think he was in some pretty stupid stables but it didn't seem
to really hurt his career as it did some of his peers in the same stable
(i.e. Konnan + Van Hammer). I will say I enjoyed his fued with Hulk
Hogan last year even though he was over pushed.
5.Sean O'Haire:Only twice have I seen a wrestler for the first time and
believed the competitor would be a main eventer some day. Jericho and
O'Haire are those superstars. This man is only 25 and his mat skills are
better than 95% of the wrestlers in the WWF/WCW. The sickest part is
he's listed at 6'6'' 280lbs. I think when the smoke clears from the WWF
VS. WCW this superstar should be given a singles push. With the right
gimmick and angle te skys the limit for this guy.
6.Chuck Palumbo:When this West Warwick native first came on the seen I
hated him but he's gotten 100% better the last few months in action.
He's held the tag titles a few times and is the current WCW tag team
champ with O'Haire. As for being world champ some day, I would have to
say that isn't in the cards. There is only room for the elite in this
game and he isn't in that league nor will he ever be.
7.Shawn Stasiak:This is another example of Vince McMahon not knowing how
to use talent. As a rookie McMahon and Ross thought he would be most
affective if his name was "Meat" and if he threw a couple of dirty
skanks in the mix. When he came to WCW he was headed for stardom but we
all knew what happened to in the end with that company. If he can stay
on good behavoir behind the scnes he's definetly a future US or
Intercontinantal Champ but I think it might be too soon to say if he's
main event material
8.Lance Storm:Another great Canadian compeitor. He's held the WCW US
title 3 times and had a 6 month reign with Chris Candido as ECW champ.
If this superstar isn't headlining cards within the next year and half
then it's another example of McMahon wasting talent.
9.Rhino:This guy is a main eventer right now. A great heel, maybe one of
the top three in the sport. I think the invasion angle is perfect for hi
too. Full speed ahead for this man.
10.Chris Benoit:The most overpushed superstar in sports entertainment.
This guy was given the World title for 24 hours untill it was deemed
that then WCW champ and Softball legend's feet were under the ropes so
he wasn't champ after all, thank Christ. US champ and Intercontinantal
champ is all this guy should be. He doesn't have mic skills, charisma,
size or teeth. Get a dentist if they have them in Canada.
11.Matt Hardy:The Hardy with the brighest future IMO. If he was given a
heel gimmick maybe one where he is sick of being compared to Shawn
Michaels and he is better than Michaels ever was he could main event in
a year or two. He should get comtinued to get pushed as he is though.
12.Jeff Hardy:A good wrestler that could some day hope to get an anlge
better than Marty Jannety. He has talent but anything better than a
secondary title would surprise me.
13.William Regal:I've always been a big fan of this guy. I think he can
put on a better match than almost anyone in the sport. In a perfect
world he would be in main events now but I know the fans wouldn't go for
it.
14.Edge:The 2001 King of the Ring. He can also put on a good match but
because of his small stature I can't see this Canadian ever being world
champ.
15.Justin Credible:A true Portagee. Another career McMahon almost ruined
with a queer gimmick. His wrestling skills down in Philly saved his
career. He won't be anything better than a US champ though. Being a
Portagee he wasn't blessed with much else than the ability to change
oil.
16.Raven:I think if he was put in the right angle he could main event.
He is in need of a desperate push. Give him a long reign with a
secondary title where there is no one left to beat so he is forced to
challenge the World Champ.
17.Saturn:True this guy likes to molest young boys just like a Catholic
Priest but he does have a lot of talent. McMahon has wasted it with
stupid angles. I am serious with this:Give him a gimmick where he is
wearing the Goldust costume. Tell the fans that Rhodes isn't under
contract and they aren't sure who Goldust is. Keep them guessing for a
few months.
18.Tazz:Thought they we he entered the WWF he would main event. Instead
McMahon decided that he was an announcer. He must have been drunk. I
think that the invasion angle is good for him and he should be
headlining soon.
19.Albert:THIS GUY FUCKING SUCKS!! He is the most wasted piece of sperm
ever and he was rewarded with the intercontinantal strap. WHAT WAS
McMahon THINKING.
20.Rob Van Dam:Did I save the best for last? Maybe...He is the complete
superstar. Mr. PPV will be world champ someday, as all fans know.
