I recently had the opportunity to read over the Jujutsu 101 Lesson 1 from Fred's new series. I start this off by saying that I trained with Fred for a year before I moved out of the area. Fred has a lot of videos on YouTube and I have been wanting to put together a training group for a while but I wasn't sure where to start. Well Lesson 1 answers that question and more.
This first lesson teaches not only some very valuable control holds but even more than that it teaches you about the attributes of leverage and control. I have never seen anyone explain how to use the leverage of your body to control an opponent as well as Fred. Also it is not an easy thing to explain it in writing and Fred has somehow done it. I learned a lot from Fred and this lesson plan describes what he taught me in the beginning.
I urge you to contact him with any questions as he is very approachable and he really does enjoy teaching.
Jujutsu 101 is a simple self-defense method based on leverage control. It is a way to help one another learn and improve balance and leverage skills through applying good coaching habits.
Through the years of instructing individuals from various walks of life, including those in law enforcement, I have been asked to make some lesson plans so individuals with their friends can practice.
This first PDF Jujutsu 101 lesson is simply called - Lesson 1 - Leverage Control Holds Introduction. It is based on the first basic lesson I give privately and in workshops.
In this lesson you will be given drills, as well as good coaching tips, on how to coach one another to start building some useful habits when working self-defense leverage control holds.
Specifically you will learn some very simple leverage moves and how they combine into some basic controlling holds. We will start on the ground. Later lessons dealing with standing and ground situations will be based on this first lesson.
Private lessons last usually an hour; sometimes two. If you follow the coaching tips when coaching each other you will have several lessons here. It really depends how much you and your friends are willing to put the time and effort in helping each other.
You can always email me if you have questions on the drills. I have also included plenty of photos, as well as some general on-line videos I have posted through the years that you and your friends might wish to review with this lesson.
My goal here is to help you and your friends help each other learn some useful leverage control skills in a progressive and safe way.
I designed this lesson in the structure that has proved successful through the years in starting men, women and children on the path of learning quality leverage control skills; as well as how to coach one another mindfully, progressively and safely.
