Wrestling at the Chase: Chase for the Gold - On Sunday, July 31st Wrestling at the Chase returns to the Chase Park Plaza in the central-west end of St. Louis, MO with a Chase for the Gold.  The stars of Sunshine State Wrestling will compete, but not under Jason Hartnell's SSW banner.  Instead, SSW superstars will wrestle for the opportunity to be crowned the first ever DirdEY TV Champion.  And while speculation remains regarding the future of the DirdEY TV Championship, one can only assume that we are definitely in for a very different night of wrestling action.

More details regarding the big event should be disclosed on the upcoming edition of South Beach Sunday.  When reached for comment, head of DirdEY TV Studios, Wally had this to say - 'Im sure Hartnell thinks he knows the half of what's goin' down in The Lou, but truth is he's in for a rude awakening.  Wait a second . . . is that microphone on?'

The SSW Heavyweight Champ Jake Dirden will play master of ceremonies at the counter-culture, anti-establishment event.  One can only wonder what crafty tricks Jake's got up his sleeve.  Just who will DirdEY pull out of the woodwork for this DirdEY TV extravaganza?  True grapplers from within and outside the sunshine state are anxious to not only get a chance at becoming the first ever DirdEY TV Champion, but also to record their name along side some of the biggest legends this business has ever seen.  Truly, The Chase is sacred ground in the history of professional wrestling.

In late breaking news, it appears Jake Dirden has secured a deal for DirdEY TV to broadcast Wrestling at the Chase via all outlets of The Franklin Broadcast Corporation. This will put the Chase for the Gold in every major market in the nation on broadcast, and in primetime.  Needless to say, the expectation for a good rating is key in Jake Dirden's 'design'.

Uprising - Home Box Office showcased a smash hit for pay per view a week from last Sunday with the blockbuster Uprising.  The debut pay per view event recorded strong early buy-rates, a sold out gate, and fast moving merchandise.  Although the night left more questions than answers in regards to the President of SSW, Jason Hartnell, many figured it to be a bitter-sweet moment for Harty when Dirden held the SSW Championship over his head. However, some now speculate that it may have actually been . . . orchestrated.  Dirden's lackey Dave Eddy made a startling discovery to close the show . . . one that many fear could change the landscape of professional wrestling forever.

The fallout from Uprising is sure to change the direction of SSW going forward.  What's going to happen next between Rastafari and the SSW South American Championship after JahMon laid out Sebastion Galca at the end of Uprising?  What type of antics should we expect from the . . . unpredictable Pete Cormier?  And, just who is Jake Dirden's mystery partner for South Beach Sunday this weekend?  While only time will tell the overall reception of Uprising, it is already being met on the Internet with much praise. SSW officials hope it carries over to the bottom line.

The Fil Returns: Will Make In-Ring Return at The Chase - Uprising presented a great night of in-ring wrestling action, but one major surprise of the evening was the return of The Fil.  Filipe Barroqiero has had a storied history in professional wrestling.  Many fans will remember The Fil from his success in the now defunct FWF.  Questions remain as to what type of working relationship will be maintained between SSW President Jason Hartnell and a man that was shortchanged at his opportunity to wrestle the FWF Championship from him.  Many fans wonder what 'new perspective' we will see in the post-Old School Hero era.

In late breaking news, The Fil is being advertised for the July 31st Wrestling at the Chase: Chase for the Gold in his in-ring return!

Birdo Beamen - In SHOCKING developments, Birdo Beamen has been released from Sunshine State Wrestling. After what was proving to be one of the hottest starts in the wrestling business in quite some time, shocking news came shortly after Uprising that 'Mainstreamin' Birdo Beamen asked for and received his release from SSW President Jason Hartnell. From everyting being heard in the insider wrestling community, Beamen has no current plans of jumping to any other promotion. Sadly, it looks like the bright lights were too much for this young star as many question if Birdo will ever be seen in the wrestling business ever again. 'It's really too bad to see a guy as talented as Birdo Beamen not be able to deal with the pressures of our business, but honestly, that's the way it goes a lot of times. You may have a ton of talent and a ton of potential, but it takes a certain undefinable something else to sustain yourself in this industry. It's too bad Birdo wasn't one of those guys' one SSW official noted. Fans of SSW are left wondering if they will ever again see the antics of Birdo Beamen, his cousin Tony Dimaggio, and bodyguard Clint Eastwood. However, this is professional wrestling . . . never say never.

Dan KRUNCH Pandora Returns for One Night Only at The Chase?! - 'Dirden wants to play games with us?' remarked former IWF World Heavyweight Champion, and current SSW Senior Advisor Dan 'KRUNCH' Pandora when reached briefly for comment regarding Dirden's Wrestling at the Chase: Chase for the Gold. There is more than one credible source going on record regarding KRUNCH's volatile reaction at Uprising when the man that took his prestigious World Heavyweight Championship away from him years ago, became the first ever SSW Heavyweight Champion. Some anonymous sources claim KRUNCH immediately pulled some of the younger stars of SSW aside shortly after the pay per view went off the air to give a passionate speach about how to conduct yourself in the professional wrestling business. While some took the sentiment to heart, others saw through the remarks, to the anger behind his words. One source that would prefer to not go on record at this point quotes the SSW Senior Advisor as saying 'He's gonna make me get back in that ring isn't he' in frustration. Also, followers of KRUNCH's Twitter account would have seen the recent tweet as follows 'July 31st . . . STL . . . Let's Get DirdEY!'

This week's DirdEY Sheet Hits and Misses can be found in The Top Shelf podcast. In it's place, a special interview with SSW's own Vinic DuShane:

The DirdEY Sheet: What really attracted you to SSW?

Vinic DuShane: Well, I'll be honest with you. Jason Hartnell wasn't the typical fedhead that I've heard stories about that begs people to come give his federation a try. I was sitting on the sidelines, more or less a free agent if that term means anything in the pro wrestling world. I was just living off the money that I had made in Xtreme Wrestling after it closed when I received a call from him. We talked for a bit and he extended the offer to me. That was pretty much it. I sat on it and thought about it for a while before I finally signed the dotted line and became a SSW roster member. Xtreme Wrestling had a lot of deep history and even though I felt like I had accomplished something there, I'm sure it will go down as a little fish in a big pond kind of thing within the memories of their fans and all the years that they have had following that company. Here in SSW, I have a chance to really make history and embed my name into the annals of it's history. I have a chance to become one of the building blocks of it's foundation and that is what really appealed to me. The rest is just being written as the weeks go by now.

The DirdEY Sheet: What are your thoughts on Uprising?

Vinic DuShane: As a wrestler you try not to get too caught up with words like ratings or buy rates. Atleast I try not to. However, this was the first time that I was ever Main Eventing a big time caliber show like Uprising was to SSW. This was the one show that we've had so far that was going to showcase what this federation was all about. Showcase the strength of it's roster and I wanted to be as big a part of that as possible. When I heard that the show was sold out and in a pretty quick time frame, I'll admit... I got some chills knowing that my best was probably not good enough for a show of this magnitude. You hear people talk about bringing their A game and I just felt like to really show the world that I belonged as a top tier talent, headlining this show that I had to go the extra. Dig down and find that A plus game. I didn't walk out at the end of the night as the champion, but I think that the fans know who I am now and what I'm bringing to the table. I felt like the show was a success. I sat down and watched it this past week and was impressed with the action. Forget about the drama that revolves around who wins what match and all that jazz and just appreciate the kind of toll that we put our bodies through to entertain. Hats off to our new champions, regardless of what color hat they wear. We all worked hard to make the show as great as it could be and I'm looking forward to making the next big event that I'm apart of a big success as well.

The DirdEY Sheet: Where is Vinic DuShane going in the future?

Vinic DuShane: I like to look at myself right now as a big time, up and comer. I'm recognizeable in a couple circles, but my name just doesn't carry the kind of real reputation that a Brent Kersh or Jake Dirden does right now. You hear people talk about other wrestlers as Legends and rightfully so. You don't have to be a 18 time World Champion to be considered a Legend. Someone who stands the test of time and entertains the people for year after year and doesn't fade away into oblivion.. that's what has people talking about those wrestlers in a light that very few can be mentioned in. I don't want to say that becoming a wrestling Legend is in my future. Who knows though, ya know? If I can keep healthy and have a successful career, maybe someday I'll be walking into some new federation as that Legendary face with true name recognition. Until then, I can only keep doing what I've been doing so far. Putting my head down to the grindstone and working my tail off to not just earn a reputation, but to etch it in the mind's of the fans and corporate brass alike.

The DirdEY Sheet: Will you be competing at the Chase for the Gold?

Vinic DuShane: I have every reason to believe that I will be in attendence and on the card in some form or fashion. I'm not a big flash and flair kind of guy, so I won't tell you that they can't have a show without me. As they say, the show must go on, so whatever I'm doing, whatever use that Jake Dirden has for me on the show, then that's the role that I'll be playing. After coming up just short of winning the World Heavyweight Championship, I'm not going to say that my focus is solely on that belt, but another opportunity at it is definitely what I'm looking forward to having in the coming months. All I know about the DirdEY TV Championship at this point is that it's a new title belt. Under what circumstances that belt will be defended and how often, we'll find out soon enough, but gold is gold and a great way to get noticed. I'm sure I will toss my name into the hat for that title belt if it's available to me.

The DirdEY Sheet: Who do you look forward to facing in SSW?

Vinic DuShane: This is a really interesting question to me because I don't have a real definitive answer. This is where a guy like Brent Kersh and I really seem to have the same mentality. It doesn't matter who it is or on what night it's going to happen. I just want to compete and there isn't anyone who I don't want to have a match with. I think that if you paired me up with any of the three competitors who I faced off with at Uprising, then you'd have yourself a hell of a program to watch. As a wrestling fan or just a wrestler in the back watching on the monitors. However, it's like I said, I'll take on anyone. I'll take on Krunch if he wants to lace them up again. I'll take on President Hartnell. I'll take on any of these old Legends who are looking to step back into the ring. Sebastian Galca. Pete Cormier. Xtreme Demon. Filipe Barroqueiro. Joe Morgan. Anybody, any time, any place. What I want to be is the guy on the card that everyone has their eye on because they know they are going to see a great match. They know they are going to get their money's worth. They know that Vinic DuShane doesn't play around.
