This is the rules page. It's basically just that, a bunch of rules that you need to follow while you're in the fed. So read them below.
USING THE MESSAGE BOARDS
The RP Board is ONLY for RP's. No OOC posts on it PERIOD, or you will lose grading on your RP's for the week.
There is to be no flaming other wrestlers on the OOC board. If you have a complaint, it is easily possible to state it without being a jackass.
Flames will be deleted as soon as staff sees them, and the person who flamed will lose grading on his or her RP's.
Do not post complaints against handlers or staffers on the OOC board. That is what email is for.
JOINING IWA
First of all, make sure you know the rules before you apply. If your sample RP has a breech of the rules in it, your application will be rejected, no questions asked.
No "real" wrestlers are accepted into IWA. They must be original creations only.
Your name must be typed normally. No CrEaTiVe CaPs or $ymb0ls instead of letters
Your wrestler may not be larger than 7 ft 5, 500 lbs.
IWA is a "real life" fed. Don't apply with cyborgs or zombies or sons of the devil. If it couldn't happen in real life, it can't happen in IWA.
Don't stack your regular movelist full of finishing moves. Applications with "pedigree", "Rock Bottom, "Tomikaze", "5 Star Frog Splash" and the like listed as standard moves will be rejected.
If your wrestler looks like someone in the real world, make sure you describe that person. "Looks like Dave Batista/Wes Borland/Johnny Knoxville" is not a description.
Use common sense. If your wrestler weights 350 lbs, he's not going to be doing shooting star presses, or stardust presses, or the like. Likewise, a 200 lb wrestler isn't going to be doing the 5 powerbombs/DVD combo.
CARDS AND RESULTS
The RP deadline for normal cards is announced on a case by case basis, as will the airing of the card and the lineup release of the next card.
PPVs will take place quarterly... i.e 4 times a year. As like in normal cards, deadlines will be announced along with the card lineup.
RP limits are judged by how long the RP period is. Generally, it is considered that you can average an RP every other day. For RP periods 5 days or longer, there will be an RP minimum of 2.
Do _NOT_ bother the staff about the results! It's the best way to get on their bad side, and you don't want that.
The card will go up at the same time as the results. RPing may begin immediately.
RULES FOR RPING
This should go without saying, but you are not allowed to use other people in your RP's without their permission.
No homosexuality-oriented insults are permitted in RP's. Since some people can't seem to understand what is an insult and what isn't, I will list what makes an insult.
- Calling someone "queer", "homo", "faggot" or something similar
- Suggesting that someone's valet is of the opposite gender
- Calling someone a slut (only a problem for the girls, but still)
- Saying that someone has "strange interests" (ie incest, farm animals, fat people, etc.)
- Insinuations. Even if it isn't directly stated, it's still an insult
No racist slurs (eg calling someone "nigger" or something similar)
The "gay" and "racist" rules may be broken, but ONLY with the express written consent of the handler the rule is being broken against.
No posting pornographic pictures in RP's. This is not only in bad taste, but against the message board terms of service, and can get the boards taken away from us.
If one of the aforementioned rules is broken in an RP, it will result in the entire RP getting a 0% grade for the card.
No hostile OOC comments permitted in RPs. Taking a shot at a friend in good humor is fine. Taking a stab at someone over something that happened OOC is not. Action taken based on this rule will depend on the severity of the break, but it can lead to being jobbed out and suspension.
No attempts to sabotage a character or angle, OOC or IC. Attempting to do this will result in you being fired on the spot.
You know what is in good taste and what isn't. So keep it in good taste when you're RPing. And remember, if you have to ask yourself "is this OK to say", it probably isn't.
RP GUIDELINES
Match winners will be decided on these terms. 75% Quality, 20% Storylines, 5% dependability of the RPer.
There are three different kinds of RP content - "smacktalk", "storyline", and "comedy". Grading of RPs is based on the levels of these content.
Smacktalk is graded by its relevancy to the match.
Storyline is graded by its entertainingness... how much it gets the grader to want to read.
Comedy is graded by how funny it is.
Mechanics - i.e grammar, punctuation, spelling - do count. We try not to make too big a deal of these things, but good mechanics can be the difference between winning and losing in a title match, don't forget that.
Grading is inherently subjective. One person may like a storyline while another doesn't. This is just the way life works.
Grading in most cases, is done by the President, Vice President, and/or Commissioner. In the case of particularly close matches, a voting committee, consisting of certain matchwriters and bookers, votes, and the votes are collected.
Members of the fed are, unless under exceptional circumstances, allowed to know who the voters are. They are allowed to request that certain people not vote on their matches, although they cannot suggest voters themselves.
IWA tries to be as realistic as possible. While such events as murder, abuse, crime, etc... aren't banned as such, you better have a DAMN good storyline to back them up, if you choose to incorporate them into your RPs. Including these for shock value will get you laughed at, jobbed, or possibly released.
OTHER RULES
You can get fired for a poor workrate. For newer handlers, one no-show results in a dark match, and another one results in being fired.
If you no-show your debut match, you're fired instantly.
If you want time off, you need to let the staff know over email. If you let them know before the RP period begins, you won't be booked. If you let them know up to 24 hours after the card is booked, they will attempt to rebook the card - however, no guarantees they'll be able to unbook you. After 24 hours, informing the staff of being unable to show can prevent your character from being forced to look bad.
IWA is not required to not book you against anyone, for any reason (including but not limited to: grudges, paranoia, conflict of interest). You are welcome to request not being booked against a certain person, and IWA will generally cooperate with you. But if you refuse to RP, it still counts as a no-show.
"I have a life" is not an excuse for a no-show. We all have lives. The staffers routinely sacrifice 6+ hours a day of their lives to produce results for you. Saying "I have a life" as an excuse is one of the best ways to get fired.
No matter who you are, just remember that you're not bigger than the fed. IWA has been open for over 3 years now, and it will not close just because you leave.
