Thunder report for 6/14/00:
The show opens with a recap from this past Monday's Nitro.
A limo pulls up outside the arena as the Cat, Jarrett and Russo arrive. Russo is looking for Goldberg and Bischoff, who haven't arrived yet. Another car pulls up behind the limo and Kevin Nash shows up at the building.
After the opening by the announce team, Russo, Jarrett, David Flair and the Cat head to the ring for an interview. Jarrett challenges Billy Kidman to a world title shot later on tonight. He brags about beating Nash and Hogan in consecutive nights. Russo talks about retiring Ric Flair on Monday and then gloats about shaving his head as well. Kevin Nash interrupts the festivities and tells Russo that his "ass" is his tonight with his bat. Nash charges to the ring and takes out all of the R&B Security. He runs through everybody in the ring as Jarrett and Russo scurry out of the ring.
After a commercial, Russo is on the phone with Bischoff, telling him to get to the arena quickly. All of Russo's comrades split from his side as we hear Nash scouring through the arena looking for Russo.
Kronic vs. Chris Candido & Bam Bam Bigelow
-All four men go at it from the outset. The power of Kronic is evident from the outset as they dominate Candido in the ring. Candido gets a slight advantage, but the size of Adams and Clark keep Candido at bay. Bigelow runs in and takes the action to the outside. Bigelow is tossed into the announce table, allowing Kronic to deliver the "High Times" to Candido, thus sealing another victory for the #1 contenders to the tag team titles. Bigelow gets back in the ring, but security breaks things up before a bigger brawl ensues.
Winners: Kronic
The Mamalukes are in the ring for an interview after the commercial break. Big Vito proclaims himself to be a superstar after his performance over Terry Funk on Monday. Johnny the Bull questions Big Vito and why he should be the Hardcore champion and not him. Tension is teased between the two as words are exchanged in the ring. Johnny puts the title on his waist and sports it around, but Big Vito canes him across the face and then punishes him in the ring. It looks like the Italian duo is no more. As Johnny the Bull goes through a table, Nash walks back to the ring and takes Big Vito out with the bat. He tells Russo that he is still looking for him tonight.
After a commercial, we capture David Flair and Miss Hancock getting a little frisky in the back. Then to the ring as Shane Douglas runs down Buff Bagwell and tells him that he was tired of carrying their tag team and that is why he attacked him on Monday night. He continues to run down the fans until Buff Bagwell charges into the ring. Candido and Bigelow storm the ring and help Douglas triple-team Buff. Tenay mentions the Triple Threat from "another organization". Kronic races down to make the save and the makings of a mini-feud are in place.
Commercial break and then Russo and the Cat think that Bischoff has arrived in a limo in the back. Both flee as it really is Scott Steiner showing up to the Scope.
Kanyon & Mike Awesome vs. Rick Steiner & Tank Abbott
-Kanyon and Awesome come down to the ring. Kanyon is imitating DDP totally, include a blonde wig. He plugs his book "Positively Kanyon" and talks about his next upcoming book signing. Hilarious. Awesome gets the stick and challenges anybody in the back to a tag team encounter. Tank Abbott and Rick Steiner answer the call. Few wrestling holds in this contest as it's an all-out brawl. Kanyon sets up a table and Awesome attempets a running Awesome Bomb on Tank, but Steiner interferes. The bell rings and the ref has ruled a no contest. Stasiak and Palumbo are in the ring to help out, but that advantage is short-lived as Scott Steiner charges in. Rick and Scott have a staredown in the ring, but we fade to commercial before we can see what happens.
Winners: No Contest
Jeff Jarrett (C) vs. Billy Kidman -- World Heavyweight Title Match
-Jarrett is on the attack from the outset and is in complete control. This is a solid technical wrestling encounter as you would expect from two of the better workers in the company. The Filthy Animals head down to the ring and Jarrett is concerned, allowing Kidman to capture numerous two counts. Tygress is at the announce table as the Filthy Animals attack Kidman. Tygress says it is because he abandoned them. Kidman is an easy prey for the Stroke and Jarrett retains the title.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett (still World Heavyweight Champion)
Post-match and Nash has roared into the ring. He delivers a big boot to Jarrett and then puts a collar around his neck. Nash drags Jarrett out of the ring and to the back and we fade to commercial.
After a commercial, Vampiro is in the ring to run down Sting. He spots a fan with a Sting mask in the front row and heads down there. He assaults the fan and it turns out to be Asya. The Demon's music hits and it seems we have a match on.
Vampiro vs. The Demon
-Just a brawl between the two men to start out. Asya hits the ring, but is the recipient of the Nail in the Coffin. The action heads to the outside and they make their way up the entrance ramp. The Demon locks Vampiro inside of his coffin and heads to check on Vampiro. No real match here.
Winner: No Contest
Commercial break and then the whereabouts of 3 Count are shown as they have been "touring" the mall circuit. We see a performance in front of a small audience.
Daffney is down to the ring and is very upset at David for turning his back on her. Daffney is visibly mad and says she wants Miss Hancock down to the ring right now. Miss Hancock is in the ring, but is immediately attacked by Daffney and a brawl begins. David Flair makes his way to the ring and pulls the two apart. David screams at Daffney as Crowbar enters the ring. David attacks his former partner and the announcers blame it all on Russo's influence.
Scott Steiner vs. Ernest Miller
-This is your usual glorified squash for Steiner. The Big Bad Booty Daddy is in total control and with the exception of a slight advantage for the Cat (earned by R&B Security interference), he falls as an easy prey for the Steiner Recliner. The ref rings the bell and Steiner appears victorious, but the Cat says that as the Commisioner of WCW, he has banned the Steiner Recliner as a move and that he wins by DQ.
Winner: Ernest Miller via DQ
With Jarrett tied up in the back, Nash gets on the phone with Scott Hall in Florida. Hall gives Nash some idea, but it is unknown at this moment.
Crowbar vs. David Flair
-This is a very lengthy match by the standards set by recent Russo bookings. David is able to hold his own, but it's Crowbar who dominates the match. He really has a lot of intensity built up and is giving it is all. No matter what Crowbar tries, he is unable to get the pinfall. It would come back to haunt him as Flair uses the Statue of Liberty figurine across Crowbar's head to get the pinfall. David begins to shave Crowbar's head just like his father and Daffney tries to stop him. He shoves her down and continues the haircut, but Miss Hancock shows up and seems to have David in a trance. He jumps out of the ring and follows her to the back.
Winner: David Flair
A commercial break and then Nash is dragging Jarrett out of the back and down to the ring. Nash calls Russo out again and then replays a classic scene from the movie "Deliverance" with a tied-up Jarrett. He says that Jarrett will "squeal like a pig" and that he is going to powerbomb Jarrett straight to hell. Before it happens, Russo's music is up and he comes out to the entranceway. He says that he has Scott Hall's contract in his back pocket and he isn't going to let Nash protect his buddy anymore, because he hates him. He tells Nash to leave Jarrett alone or the contract of Hall's will be ripped up. Goldberg's music starts up and Nash waits for Goldberg. From behind, Goldberg slides in and attacks Nash unmercifully. Jarrett gets in on the action, as does Russo. We fade to black as Russo is about to do something with the contract.
