6/19/00:
Nitro begins with a recap of last week's Thunder - Kevin Nash's
reign of terror, Daffney's betrayal and the reformation of the Triple
Threat.
In the parking area, a pair of limos pull up and Jeff Jarrett and
Mike Awesome, who exit one limo, ask Ernest "the Cat" Miller, who climbs
out of the other, about the location of Vince Russo (he's hurt) and Eric
Bischoff (he's busy). Jarrett is skeptical and a member of R&B Security
informs the Cat that he is needed in the ring. In said ring, Horace
sits and waits, fuming, with a baseball bat. "Last week I saw a guy,
who so far has been nothing but a fly by night in this business . . .
destroy my Uncle Hollywood Hogan." He tells Goldberg that he's is only
out for money and that it is "the mat or the grave.. . . I want to be
next." The Cat then comes out to the ring area and tells Horace that
Goldberg is too busy for him. "You can sit in that ring all night if
you want but I have some work to do." He then tells Scott "Big Poppa
Pump" Steiner that because he harmed Vince Russo, that if their is any
outside interference, he will be sent to his dojo to clean floors. The
Cat then reveals that he also has Scott Hall's contract when Kevin Nash,
Steiner and Midajah come out to the ramp. "Y'know, Cat, after last
week, Scotty and I are in a real bad mood. It seems to me that you've
made yourself some kinda dream maker tonight. How about granting some
of those dreams. . ." He then intimidates the Cat into booking a match
between Horace and Goldberg. "Last week," Steiner says, "I put Russo in
the Steiner Recliner and snapped his neck . . . I been looking around
this building all day looking for Eric Bitch-Off but I can't find him."
He then tells the Cat he wants him in a match. The Cat offers him a
World Title shot instead. Nash and Steiner inch closer to the Cat,
backing him toward the ring where Horace, with the bat, pokes him from
behind. He is intimidated into booking a match between himself and Nash
for Hall's contract before being scared off through the crowd.
Back in the production truck, Perfect Shawn Stasiak and Chuck "Main
Event" Palumbo try to force the technicians to air taped footage of them
arriving at the arena to fool Tank Abbott and Rick Steiner the way they
were fooled last week. Apparently Steiner and Abbott watch the show
because they ambush the pair as they exit the truck. "Shine up those
belts," laughs Abbott as they walk off.
In his office, the Cat is confronted by Jarrett and Awesome.
Jarrett is upset about his match so the Cat assigns Awesome as guest
referee. A member of Security asks that he throw a match into the ring
so the Cat sends the Spice Girls, that is Three Count out for a match.
Three Count comes to the ring and threaten to debut their new single
on Thunder.
Three Count defeat the Jung Dragons via pinfall.
-Jamie San and Shane Helms back into a corner as Shannon Moore and
Kaz Hyashi throw each other into the ropes. Evan Karagias comes off the
top rope with a missile drop kick onto Hyashi as Moore holds him and
then tags in to hold Hyashi as Helms leaps over him for a sunset flip.
Helms and Moore then back Hyashi into a corner and kick him before
slinging him into the opposite corner. Helms tries to sling Moore into
Hyashi but he moves and tags Yang into the match. Yang clears the ring
and climbs the ropes to hit Karagias but is attacked from behind.
Karagias comes off the rope and splashes Yang but Hyashi breaks up the
count. Hyashi is knocked off the top rope as Jamie San tags in. He is
triple team and face slammed for the pinfall. Lance Storm, in street
clothes runs into the ring and drop kicks each member of Three Count, in
turn and then flips onto them outside the ring before running off
through the crowd.
Backstage, David Flair searches for Daffney as Goldberg enters the
building.
Mike Tenay asks Horace about his desire to call out Goldberg.
Horace rants about being brought from the building in a stretcher before
telling Goldberg that he's "absolutely crazy" if he thinks that he's
afraid to "take a bullet" for Hogan.
Hardcore Title Match: Big Vito defeats Johnny the Bull via
pinfall.
-Big Vito hits Johnny the Bull with a kendo stick as he tries to
enter the ring. He hits Johnny repeatedly, on the floor, with the stick
before throwing him off the ramp. Johnny reverses a slingshot into some
steps and then picks up a barricade. Vito kicks it and knocks Johnny
back down before pulling him backstage. Vito continues to bash on
Johnny before hitting him with a full trash can and throwing him into a
table. He throws him into a stack of chairs and then sets up a piece of
drywall to throw him through. Both men end up in a stack of steel
pipes, however, and Johnny grabs a wooden handle to hit Vito with. Vito
takes one shot but then scores a twisting DDT off of a scaffolding and
through a table for the pinfall.
Backstage, the Cat triumphantly pulls Scott Hall's contract out of
his brief case as Terry Funk comes to help Johnny the Bull from the site
of his defeat. In another hallway, Rey Mysterio, Jr. and the Artist
attack Lt. Loco and run off before G.I. Bro can come to his aid.
In the locker room, Bro yells at the Misfits in Action for not
taking their business seriously. He instructs each member to watch the
others' backs and tells Captain Rection that he is now G. Rection, for
General because he has things to take care off - indicating Kanyon's
ring entrance on the monitor. Kanyon, in a blond wig with a copy of
"Positively Kanyon" in tow: "It's the kinda book you can't read once.
You gotta read it TWO times, TWO times, TWO times!" He describes this
morning's "self high five" before issuing an open challenge.
Bro rushes the ring but Kanyon cuts him off with several punches.
He slings Bro into the ropes but he comes back with a knee and drops
Kanyon. Bro takes over the offense with several high kicks which drives
Kanyon from the ring. Bro then pulls off his camouflage and Kanyon runs
off. The announce team questions whether he's still G.I. Bro or is now
Booker T as David Flair finds Daffney. She informs him that she has
nothing to say to him and slaps him.
Horace tapes up for his match while an intense Goldberg watches on a
monitor.
Goldberg defeats Horace via pinfall.
-Backstage, Steiner and Nash agree to wait and watch, despite
Steiner's dislike of the rules. Goldberg then makes his entrance in the
usual manner, i.e. with his Security escort. Horace kicks Goldberg in
the face as he enters the ring and then slings him off the ropes.
Goldberg flies off of them with a clothesline and drops Horace to the
mat. He intimidates the referee as he punches his fallen opponent
before rolling him out of the ring. Goldberg continues to punish Horace
and then picks him up and drops him into the ring steps. Horace grabs a
chair to block Goldberg and then hits him three times in the stomach and
across the back. They return to the ring and Horace drops Goldberg with
a boot. Goldberg pops back up and spears Horace. He jackhammers for
the pinfall and then puts Horace in a rear chin lock, trying to choke
him.
Backstage, Nash tells Steiner that the "no interference" rule may
work in their favor as he goes to the ring area for his match. Steiner
grabs Midajah and Nash asks him to save his energy for his match. "This
is my match tonight," he responds as Nash leaves.
Kevin Nash defeats Ernest "the Cat" Miller via pinfall.
-The Cat comes to the ring first with a steel briefcase handcuffed to
his wrist. He tells Nash that he's going to "rip [him] apart" as he
takes the briefcase off and orders his music restarted so he can dance.
Walking down to the announce table, he cuffs the briefcase to Mark
Madden, with the key around his neck as Nash makes his entrance. The
Cat threatens to throw the key into the crowd as Nash circles him. Nash
tries a clothesline, which the Cat almost completely ducks, and then
backs the Cat into a corner. He runs out of the ring and tries to call
for help from backstage as Nash bashes him and chases him around the
ring. He grabs a microphone and then Maddens' headset trying to "waive.
. ." but is cut off by a right hand. The Cat returns to the ring and
low blows Nash but Nash merely pummels him and then powerbombs him for
the pinfall. Nash takes the key and opens the briefcase. He pulls out
pictures of the Cat rather than Scott Hall's contract and then tries to
grab the Cat. Goldberg then shows up on the Nitro Vision, holding the
contract. He challenges Nash to a match at Bash at the Beach for the
contract. Goldberg then stuffs the contract into his mouth and eats
it. Tony Schiavone and Scott Hudson wonder if it is still valid.
Backstage, Mike Tenay interviews Nash about the Bash at the Beach.
Nash is unconcerned because it is his birthday on July 9th and that
Scott is Hall is only 40 minutes away. After the match, he says they'll
celebrate his birthday. Tenay asks Steiner if he is concerned about his
match with the Chosen One Jeff Jarrett. He is not.
Cruiserweight Title Match: Lt. Loco defeats Rey Mysterio, Jr. and
the Artist via pinfall.
-Mysterio comes to the ring with the Filthy Animals. Juventud
Guerrera joins the announce team as Konnan and Disco Inferno "Hooty Hoo"
in the ring. The Misfits in Action come to the ring and then Paisley
and the Artist arrive for a three-way match. Loco and the Artist batter
each other outside the ring but Loco quickly returns where Mysterio
drops a leg on him. The Artist breaks up the pin and Loco scores and
spine buster and a frog splash on Mysterio. Mysterio kicks out and the
Artist throws Loco from the ring. Mysterio comes off the rope on the
Artist who attempts to throw him out. Instead, the Artist ends up in a
corner and knocks Loco onto the ropes. Mysterio scores a bronco buster
but Loco pushes him onto the ropes and out of the ring before coming off
the top rope with a DDT for the pinfall. Tygress then holds Major Gunns
but as Paisley rushes to slap her, Gunns ducks and Paisley hits
Tygress. The women have to be restrained as Tygress pulls off her
jacket and goes after Paisley.
Backstage, Mike Tenay conducts an interview with Daffney, although
he is not sure why. David Flair then walks over with black flowers,
drops to his knees and croons to her in apology. She accepts and the
two embrace as Tenay suggests they find a room.
David and Daffney walk hand in hand backstage and he puts her into a
car. He tells her he forgot something and then returns to the building
where he meets Miss Hancock. The two start kissing but Daffney watches
on a monitor and cries.
WCW Tag Team Title Match: Perfect Shawn Stasiak and Chuck "the
Main Event" Palumbo defeat Tank Abbott and Rick Steiner via pinfall.
-Abbott pushes Stasiak into his corner before picking him up and then
throwing him to the mat. Abbott tags in Steiner who clotheslines
Stasiak off the ropes for a two count. He scores a belly to belly
suplex and covers but Palumbo breaks up the count. Stasiak counters a
sling off the ropes with a knee and tag Palumbo in. Palumbo runs off
the ropes but Steiner lifts him off his feet and over his head. Abbott
argues with a fan at ringside and rips up his sign. He then chases the
fan through the crowd. Steiner watches and Palumbo and Stasiak double
team him outside the ring. Returning to the ring, Stasiak and Palumbo
punch and work over Steiner on the ropes. He comes off the ropes with a
clothesline and then suplexes Palumbo. He scores a two count but
Stasiak hand the Lex Flexor to Palumbo. He swings and misses and
Steiner scores another suplex. Steiner climbs the ropes but he comes
down onto Palumbo with the Flexor. Palumbo scores the pinfall.
Backstage, Dale Torborg tells Aysa that "he" has gotten in the way
of their relationship and, despite several weeks of therapy, "he" is
still getting in between them. He then hands Aysa his Demon costume and
tells her to hide it where he can't find it. As the announce team
wonder who "he" is, Vampiro watches on a monitor.
The announce team theorize that perhaps the Demon is a victim of
split personality as Vampiro makes his way to the ring. Vampiro decides
that he should have a party for the Demon since he is "going away." He
invites Dale "the Demon" Torborg and Aysa to the ring. They come to the
ring to Kiss' "God of Thunder" but Vampiro demands the music be stopped
since Torborg is supposedly trying to drop the gimmick. Doesn't it hurt
"when a part of yourself simply goes away?" Vampiro asks as the lights
go out. Aysa disappears when the lights come back. The lights go out
again and Vampiro disappears. As Torborg looks around, Vampiro appears
on the Nitro Vision, driving away.
Backstage, Scott Steiner prepares for his match as the Triple Threat
- "The Franchise" Shane Douglas, Bam Bam Bigelow and Chris "Hard Knox"
Candido, in a sling - and Buff Bagwell and Kronic make their respective
ways to the ring area.
The Triple Threat come to the ring and Douglas reveals that they are
"taking what belongs to [them] and taking it by force." He reveals that
Bigelow and Candido want the Tag Team belts and that he will face
Bagwell at the Bash at the Beach.
Buff Bagwell and Kronic defeat the Triple Threat via pinfall.
-Bryan Clarke and Douglas start off by locking up. Clarke powers
Douglas against the ropes and delivers several chops. Douglas lifts
himself behind Clarke and drops him before climbing the ropes. Clarke
pulls him off the rope and throws him to the mat. He then pulls Douglas
up for a choke slam. Bryan Adams tags in and scores a full nelson slam
for a two count. Bagwell tags in and chases Douglas into his corner.
Bigelow tags in and headbutts Bagwell. He backs him into a corner and
slaps Bagwell before tagging Douglas back in. Douglas backs Bagwell
into a corner and punches and chops him before attempting a choke and a
trio of suplexes. He covers but Bagwell kicks out. Douglas attempts a
clotheslines but Bagwell ducks and scores an underhand DDT. Both men go
down and Bigelow and Adams are tagged in. Douglas tries to interfere
but Clarke clears him out. They sling Bigelow off the ropes but he
scores a double DDT. Kronic comes back up as Candido bumps the referee
with a foreign object from his sling, as score the High Times. The
referee is out and Kronic chase Candido from the ring area. Bagwell
tries the Blockbuster on Bigelow but he blocks with his head. Bagwell
comes back, however and manages to score it on the second attempt for
the pinfall. Douglas comes behind a celebrating Bagwell and stomps him
until Kronic rush out for the save.
Backstage, Scott Steiner and Midajah and Jeff Jarrett and Mike
Awesome make their respective ways to the ring area.
WCW Heavyweight Title Match: Jeff Jarrett defeats Scott "Big Poppa
Pump" Steiner via pinfall.
-The Cat and Mike Awesome come to the ring first and the Cat joins
the announce team. Steiner comes to the ring and tells the Cat that he
"sucks." "If I was Commissioner, I'd have a panty on a pole match or a
freak on a leash match. . . " He offers to make a stipulation when
Jarrett comes from behind. He throws Steiner off the ropes but Steiner
battles back with a back breaker and a clothesline. Steiner then picks
up Jarrett and drops him onto two turnbuckles, one after the other.
Jarrett ends up on the floor where he takes a chair and levels Steiner.
Midajah tries to aid Steiner but Jarrett pushes her into the ring. She
climbs onto Jarrett's back and Steiner hits him with a chair. The two
battle over the barricade and into the crowd until Steiner throws
Jarrett back over the barricade and onto the ring steps. Back in the
ring, Jarrett attempts to come off the ropes with a kick but Steiner
holds the ropes and Jarrett falls flat. Steiner grabs his legs and
catapults Jarrett into the turnbuckle before lifting him and dropping
him to the mat. Jarrett scores a low blow, as Awesome warns him not to,
and then begins climbing the ropes for a pair of double axe handles. He
celebrates and tries for a third but Steiner catches him. Jarrett
counters and scores a belly to back suplex before applying a sleeper
hold. Steiner powers free but Jarrett slaps another sleeper hold on.
He gets free again and scores a vertical suplex. Both men struggle to
their feet and Jarrett attempts a pair of punches. Steiner blocks each
punch and suplexes Jarrett. He covers but Jarrett kicks out. Steiner
scores another suplex and two count but puts Jarrett into the Steiner
Recliner. The Cat then orders Awesome to break up the hod "by any means
necessary" since he deemed that move illegal on Thunder. Awesome uses a
chair to break up the hold and Jarrett covers. Steiner kicks out and
Jarrett and Awesome put the boots to him. He pushes Jarrett out of the
ring and puts Awesome in the Steiner Recliner. Jarrett hits Steiner
with the guitar and then scores the pinfall. The Cat then enters the
ring and announces that he will now kick Steiner's "ass." As he takes
off his jacket, however, Steiner gets up and suplexes the Cat. He
manages to fight off all three men until Goldberg rushes out and spears
him. Nash comes to the ring but Goldberg rolls out of the ring and
waves as Nash simply gives up the chase and stalks around the ring as
Nitro ends.
