Gridiron: 1981-2000

Some Horse Wrestling Purists say that Gridiron was the Babe Ruth of Horse Wrestling. Statistically, The Bambino can't hold a candle to Gridiron's 97-0-1 record. But like The Babe, Gridiron innovated his field. He changed the entire outlook of Horse Wrestling. B.G. (Before Gridiron) Horse Wrestling was considered a form of entertainment for "hicks", "rednecks", and "inbreds". But Gridiron brought Grace and dignity to the HWF. People no longer protested outside the venues, but actually came pitside to watch an icon. To watch history in the making. Gridiron brought a sense of community, loyalty, and honor to the sport. And like the Babe, Gridiron loved his fans. Literally hundreds would line up after the venues to pet the majestic beast's head, for good luck some would say. Though the ones that really appreciated Gridiron pet him because they knew that they were touching something more than just a wrestling horse. Deep down, they knew that this horse was above all creatures.

I believe it was fitting for Gridiron to go the way he did. It would almost seem apocoyliptic for him to be killed in a fight. Gridiron being killed by another horse? It is like saying the sun burnt out. Impossible to believe. Gridiron went out with dignity. He left this earth undefeated, but more importantly a champion. The people's champion. -Clint Barker: HWF CEO
