Face’s 3D Animation (with Poser) Guide and tips

                                                ANIMATION

1)      Download Poser 4 from your favorite warez site, or buy it.

2)      Read the guide which comes with the program given you thoroughly.

3)      Now, Open Poser up.

4)      It should start out with a regular looking kind of guy.

5)      In this step, we’re gonna make sure we all have pretty much the same setup.

a)Make Sure that everything is unchecked up top.

        b) Now, check Figure Circle under Display (this allows you to move the entire body  instead  of individual body parts) ((TAKE this off If you are exporting pictures))

6)      Ok. Now, you should find an animation bar at the bottom of your screen. If you    don’t,  find it up top or double click on the menu below your person.

7)       Now we’re going to make an animation with your person. On the animation bar, towards the bottom of the screen, make sure you have “skip frames” off.

8)      Now, to the right of the key symbol, press the plus sign. That will add a key frame.

9)      Next, you need to advance the yellow sliding bar to the right, so that you are now on frame 2. Move the guy a little, and press the + symbol. Now, repeat until you have an animation.

10)  Now, go to animation, make movie, and produce your avi. You can always save it as a gif later, so make sure everything is up high.

                                            Adding Textures

1)      Click the pull out bar on the far right of the screen.

2)      Now, Go to props, and pick “prop types”

3)      Pick the box.

4)      Now, in paint shop pro, write your name and save it as a bmp or tif file.

5)      Click on the box, and from the top, go to render, materials. Go to texture map on the menu, and load the picture of your name.

6)      Now, go to Display, Element style, and click texture shaded (do this on the figure and document style menus too.)

7)      Now, move the camera back a little, and your name should show up on the box!

8)      You can also click render for a better view.

                                          Making Weapons

1)      To make a weapon, you  must use the primitive figures like the boxes and spheres.

2)      Say, to make a table, we take 2 squares, and using the bar on the right of the main middle screen with all the “origin x” “origin y” stuff on it, we make it into two identical rectangular boxes ( so the table breaks)

3)      Now, take 4 cylinders and make them look equal to the two boxes

4)      Take these figures, and make a table!

5)      The same thing applies to making arenas, and stuff. Of course, for arenas, you’ll have to add textures.

                                                 The EXTRAS section

1)      You can export pictures and save your files by using the File pull down menu

2)       You can edit the default clothing by searching under your poser directory for the bmp files to edit ( don’t overwrite these, save your edited ones ((with stuff like wrestler’s clothing)) as a different file and then import their textures.

3)      Sometimes, Poser can be a real pain in the ass. You need to be patient, and be sure not to throw together crappy animations.

Other more advanced programs, like 3d studio max let you make better props and homemade figures. If you become skilled, try them out. Also try bryce and any others that you may find interesting.
