Reasoning IC and/or OOC for relation (include character history): . Liviana
was born to Polaris and Cynthia (Jweles) Black in the December of
1986. Both the Blacks and the Jweles were highly powerful names in
magic. Her mum’s father was known as the first to “forsake the legions of
pure blood power” (an “alliance” of several pure blood families made by
inter-marriages that would make the royal family like a great mixture of
different people and cultures) during the reign of Grindald. Her
father’s family was also apart of the “legion of pure blood power”, but
unlike Jweles, there was no rift between them until recently.
While her mother was an only child, her father had two brothers, Sirius and
Regulus. Regulus was killed by Voldemort for almost turning back from
what the Death Eaters at that time were doing. Uncle Sirius was
convicted of a crime he did not commit under Voldemort, and sentenced to
live in Azkaban with out parole.
When Livy was about 5 Uncle Sirius escaped from Azkaban. It was a
frenzied time for her family, who lived comfortably out side of a small
town in Wales at the time (after living in London, a small town off the
Lock Ness lake in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the country of Ireland,
as well as various other places in the British Isles), in an old family
home of the Jweles family. Several Ministry employees found it
necessary to visit her house about once a week, looking for Sirius, though
father had made it plain that he had no connections with Sirius. After
a while, the visits became less frequent, until they stopped around
April.
In June of that year, Livy found a large stray dog playing out side. Being
only 6 at the time, she thought the dog needed a home and a name. Livy
began to call it Snuffles, and took it home with me. This dog turned
out to be no dog, but actually her Uncle Sirius Black in animagi
form. It scared the crap out of both of her parents, until Sirius
could convince them that he was not at our home to kill us. After
hours of conversation, Livy’s family decided on a plan of action; since her
mom had already been offered a research opportunity in Mexico, they would
take them up on the offer and relocate our little lives, as well as Livy’s
new “pet” to Mexico.
The first summer in Mexico was paradise. Liviana had what any little
6 year old could want, the complete and un-faltering attention of three
adults. While her mum and dad were out doing their research things,
Sirius was appointed the job of taking care of me. Behind mum and
dads backs, Sirius taught Livy all the fun stuff; how to fly, how to swim,
how to climb trees and make bird calls, and of course, her favorite lessons
were how to play pranks.
Liviana’s first prank played was on a boy named Rico in Mexico. It
was a simple dung bomb, but it made him so mad. He still hasn’t
forgiven me for it, and is out to get me at every possible turn when I am
down there.
To bad that first summer couldn’t last forever. Sirius got a
disturbing letter from his God Son, Harry Potter in Britain. That
brought about several heated discussions between him and Livy’s
parents. After many tearful nights, Sirius left us. He wrote a
lot, but she never saw him again, as he died a year and a half
latter.
Liviana’s parents tried to carry on their work in Mexico, but it seemed
useless. Her father was itching to get back to Europe to avenge both
his brothers deaths. News of the war and deaths of it cause her mother
much hardship, and long nights crying. Livy, nearing age 10, had set
my cores down my own path of emotional destruction. After what
happened to Sirius, she had little trust for any new friendships, often
being extremely out going at first, and then after she started getting
close, she would close herself off again. It was a kind of defensive
mechanism for her.
The longer her parents tried to ignore the events in Europe, the more they
could not. Finally, the family moved again, back to Europe and right
in the middle of the war. Both of her parents imminently, they set to
work for the Order of the Phoenix. The war was escalading out of
control, and since a battle was imminent, her parents sent Livy to her
father’s cousin, Andromeda (Black) Tonks.
Liviana never knew the full story of what had happened to my parents in the
final battle until recently. It still sends shivers down her
back. From what she was told, her parents kept close together in the
battle, fighting side by side. A weaker death eater attacked Livy’s
parents, distracting them from the true danger behind them. A vampire
came up behind them, and took them from the battle field. No one saw
them actually die, but it can be assumed it wasn’t pleasant.
After Mum and Dad’s death, Liviana turned into herself. The Tonks,
luckily, took full custody of her, but they had little idea of what to do
with Livy. She locked herself in the room they provided for days at a
time, refused to talk for weeks, and when she did talk she was not
pleasant. Livy started blaming herself, and because of that, she
pushed everyone away. Andromeda, Ted and even Nyphdora tried to do
their best for her, either having her help them at the old Black family
home at Grimm auld (which would soon become mine) or telling Livy stories,
or even one time taking me to Mexico to make her feel more at home. That
was probably the worst incident of bratty ness that she ever went
into. Her old friend, Sophia’s, mother tried to tell me she was
sorry. Livy almost literally bit her head off, telling her she was
sick and tired of people always telling me how sorry they were.
After that, the Tonks gave up trying for the most part, which was okay with
Livy. About a year passed, when an owl came with her invitation to
Hogwarts. It seemed like the perfect escape for her. She needed
to get out of that house more than anything.
Does this relation impact majorly on your character: Yes. Albeit
brief the time that she had actually known her uncle, much of what he did
for her is still reflected in her life, as well as interactions with other
characters that are related to Liviana because of her uncle. If it
were not for this relationship, Liviana would have had very little reason
for even talking with Casseus (who is no longer with us) or Aislin. It
also gives her a both extra loathing and mixed with a dash of respect that
she has for Mr. Malfoy.
It also provides background for both her love of Quidditch and
pranking. Both what Sirius taught her when she was young and in
Mexico, and what she has learned from him later through his journal, which
Liviana poses after coming to inherit most things for that side of the
Black family.
How will your character be potentially afflicted if this relation was
removed? (E.g. in terms of history and future):
Well, basically it would mean redoing her history, her reasons for moving
to Mexico, and where I stayed after my parents died, or if and why they
died as well. The theory of them going because a type of revenge that
is in Livy’s father only works if she is related to the Blacks.
It would also put a damper on where PAMM finds its spells, because at the
moment we are relying on two prank books and that I posses Sirius’ old
journal.
I would also have to figure out a new place for Liviana to stay during the
summer holiday because it makes little to no sense for her to stay at
Grimmauld if she is not a Black.
Can you envisage any possible remedies for the aforementioned potential
situation?
Basically, since I have been doing this for this long, it would mean
starting from scratch practically as a first year. I would have to
come up with new reasons for being where I was in my life, reasons for
starting a prank group named similarly to the ancient Maurders.
