Virtual Hogwarts > The Dueling Chamber > I need 2 or 3 good RPers...

(ooc: We'll start this out as a duel... Not sure if we need an officiator if it'll not be your typical thing... I'll ask someone about it But if you're a good RPer and want to RP your Transfiguration adventure thingy with me... post here and I'll inform you about my ideas and we can work something out together. *nudges* You know you want to RP with Sarissy Sariss yawned as she entered the Duelling Chamber. She was tired. Half of the term was over and she was already feeling the strain of having chosen to have a schedule that would give a less curious and study-willing person ulcer. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and then put Thorny down in his usual place. He looked just as sleepy as Sariss was. A quick duel would hopefully wake Sariss up. As she stepped up onto an empty platform at the far end of the chamber, she was already eyeing the doors, in the hopes of receiving a visitor and opponent on her platform soon. She drew her wand and inspected it as usual. A witch was only as good in shape as was her wand, after all.

*Aurora Braelin strolled into the dueling chamber feeling very happy for some reason. Class was over for the weekend and she had finished all of her homework for the time being. Darcie was somewhere in the dueling chamber dueling her heart out which was the main cause for Aurora being in the chamber in the first place. When she looked around for Darcie, she could not find her near the front of the chamber. Oddly enough, Aurora never went to the far back of the chamber as she never really had a need to before. But then, Aurora saw Sariss standing on a platform all by her lonesome and Aurora just could not pass up the chance to duel her again. She was a strong dueler not to be taken lightly. She looked around, wondering if someone else would be interested in dueling her before Aurora approached her. She didn't see anyone and Aurora moved forward towards the Slytherin prefect. "Hello, Sariss! Are you expecting a partner, or may I join you?"

Checking her bag once more if she's brought the bottle along, Silverdawn smiled faintly as she entered into the Dueling Chamber, eyes lighting up at the multitude of colored lights streaking through the room. Supposedly, she ought to be in the Transfiguration classroom, studying through the notes Professor Weasley had brought over, but due to the fact that this week's class had been one mass lecture-like class, the silvan-haired child had had the time to sneak out of the classroom and into this huge salle of a Chamber in the hopes of finding one familiar figure. Ah! There she is! Silverdawn beamed on finding the dark-haired duelist standing on one of the platforms, idly chatting with a Ravenclaw girl whom she had seen in her first year Transfiguration class. Quickly bounding towards the raised stage with her kitten trailing behind her, Silverdawn caught a glimpse of brown on the floor the steps and smiled whilst quickly taking the hedgehog up before tickling his nose. It was something Sariss' pet had a soft spot on, and the Hufflepuff child giggled, "Hello Thorny. I've got some treat for you too..." The hedgehog's eyes seemed to light up on those words, his face nudging towards Silverdawn's bag as if sensing what was inside. Wagging her finger, Silverdawn whispered, "Nuh-uh. Not now. You don't want your mistress screaming now do you?" Thorny shook his head as if signalling no, and the young girl smiled. Now that's a good boy. She grinned before walking up towards the platform, hugging Sariss in her middle, exclaiming, "Sarissy! I've got something for you... Hold on..." Still smiling, Silverdawn then quickly took out the glass container tied with a yellow and black ribbon, pushing it lightly into the amused Slytherin's hands, "Here. My mother owled me these earlier on. I thought you might like some of it. Dueling makes you hungry after all... Hope you like it!"

Professor Trimble looked confused at the sight before him. "Well, two of you better get ready to duel and the 3rd should get off the platform right quick. Begin!"

Jumping slightly at Professor Trimble's voice, Silverdawn smiled at both Sariss and the unfamiliar Ravenclaw. She too, had different colored eyes, and Silverdawn could not help but stare in those blue and purple orbs... Now she understood why people say that people with different-colored eyes were intriguing - no one is able to make out what they're thinking for they stay mesmerized in wonder at why someone actually has eyes of two different colors. As the child colored faintly on the realization that she had been staring at the Ravenclaw for longer than need be, Silverdawn bowed shyly, "Erm, I don't believe we've met. Silverdawn Kadamon, first year Hufflepuff." Then, taking her leave, she quickly stuffed a piece of cookie in the girl's hand, "Okay then. Now I'll scat. Good luck!" With that, Silver picked up Ithil and together with Thorny, she went over towards the bench situated near one of the marble pillar and went to sit there, happily munching on some more cookies. Her kitten, Ithil, just curled herself into a ball and snuggled near the silvan-haired girl whilst Thorny seemed to be in protest. My pressie! It was like a silent plea, and Silverdawn glanced at the nose nudging her hand. She had almost forgotten all about her 'gift' to the hedgehog now that she was intent on watching Sariss duel with someone else. Smiling apologetically, Silver started rummaging through the inner pockets of her bag for a paper bag. It took quite some time to get the bag unopened, seeing as quite a bit of spellotape is used to seal them... But once it was done, the girl grinned at Thorny, who was already digging out the three dead carcasses and munching on them enthusiastically. Well, I hope Sariss won't see this... She'll freak out immediately! ((

*Aurora Braelin glanced at the other girl and gave a curt bow back in return. "Aurora Braelin. second year. Ravenclaw," she muttered and smiled. 'Serive with a smile...' she thought to herself and surpessed a giggled. When the professor began to duel, Aurora had wipped out her wand quickly. She smiled at Sariss and raised her wand to her. She knew that Sariss could put out a flame easily, but it was one of Aurora's favorite charms. One of the easiest to cast, in fact. "Right then," she murmured. "How are you doing, Sariss?" she asked, pausing for small talk, hoping to delay her inevitable defeat. "Been a while since we last dueled. A shame, really," she giggled. "Incendio!" she bellowed, shooting her wand forward. A flaming ball erupted from the tip of her wand and shot across the dueling platform towards Sariss. 125 - 10 (Lv3 Fire-Starter) = 115

Shortly after Aurora had joined Sariss on the platform, a little silver-haired girl entered the Duelling Chamber and made a beeline towards Thorny whom she gently patted and caressed. The little hedgehog seemed to be rather fond of Silverdawn Kadamon and looked bigger than he actually was when he was sitting on the little Hufflepuff’s tiny hand. Silverdawn was speaking to him in much the same manner that Sariss usually did. Then Silverdawn dashed onto the platform and threw herself around Sariss’s middle, hugging her and exclaiming that she had something for her. The item in question was a glass container with ‘Hufflepuff attire.’ How cute. Yellow and black always reminded Sariss of bumblebees, practically the only thing with more than four legs that Sariss was not as scared of as of most others. Bumblebees seemed so gentle compared to wasps and even bees. Sariss smiled, beaming down at little Silverdawn as she shoved the glass into the Slytherin’s hands and explained what it was. “Ohh… Yum! Thank you, Silvy! We should munch those later when—Hello, Professor Trimble!” Sariss said and whispered to Silvy that she had better leave the platform quickly. “Thorny would surely enjoy your company. Professor, just a moment…” she excused herself for a moment to put the jar of cookies under the little staircase. Somewhere through all of this, Silverdawn had politely introduced herself to Aurora and had received a likewise reply. “I’m rather well,” said Sariss in response to Aurora’s kind enquiry. “Indeed, tis such a shame that lessons have become so demanding these days that an innocent little Slytherin like me barely finds the time to eat, much less duel. Aspergo!” The fireball was quickly reduced to a faint trace of smoking debris that hovered in midair for a split second before dissolving completely. Sariss pondered her next spell for a minute before reaching the conclusion that she ought to practise a jinx that she hadn’t cast in a positive eternity. The ‘moniker’ as she secretly dubbed it. “Cylicruris!” The glowing light of the spell erupted dutifully and reliably from Sariss’s wand and zoomed towards the Ravenclaw… 200 – 5 (LV3 Shower Charm) -25 (LV2 Jelly Legs Jinx) = 170

*Aurora Braelin smiled at Sariss as she responded in kind, Whether it was to humor her or not, it was still kind of her. Aurora had been abruptly brushed off before by Slytherins. Rather cruel Slytherins. She watched as Sariss used her water charm on her ball of fire. It wasn't fair. She workedhard on that fireball and Sariss easily put it out. Was she showing her her place? Keeping Aurora down a notch or two. Well, there was no denying it. Aurora wasn't as powerful as she, but she hoped to be. One day. Sariss set forth a goal for everyone ever since dueling came into play. Just to simply be as good as her or to be a match for her. Aurora was working her way up. She raised her wand at the jelly legs jinx heading her way. That was not a fun spell to have cast upon yourself. Aurora had experienced it before, giving her legs that jelly feeling, which was gross. As she thought about it, she almost forgot to block the spell. "MEEP!" she whimpered. "Obsidio!" she bellowed, more confidently. 'Concentrate...' she thought to herself. That was what she needed to do. Now...which spell should she use? "FULINIS!" she bellowed. 115 - 25 (Lv3 Blocking) - 40 (Lv1 Lightning spell) = 50

"Stipitis!" Sariss called out and threw a log into the massive lightning bolt's way. Rarely did it happen that someone used this powerful spell in duels with her, either because the spell itself was not popular enough or because the majority of the ones who knew it were familiar with Sariss's spell repertoire. Sariss threw a glance towards Silverdawn who was feeding Thorny some treats that Sariss couldn't make out. The hedgehog seemed to like them very much though, and he was also quite fond of the little Hufflepufflian. But then again... Thorny was rather easily brought to like you. All you had to do was give him a treat and tickle his chin until his nose would scrunch up--and he'd adore you forever. The Slytherin aimed and chanted, "Coruscare!" As the fireball hurtled towards Aurora, Sariss was once more fascinated with the looks of it. The way the flames flickered as it flew towards her opponent... It just looked awe-inspiring as many other spells did also. But since it was one of Sariss's most recent additions, she was particularly proud of it all. 170 - 20 (Camper's Charm) - 20 (LV3 Flare Charm) = 130 (ooc: Okay... Now might be the time to RP dodging the spell. It will have to set alight a tapestry or something and render visible a secret passage or something of that sort... And then we can finally get down to the adventure part! *beams at her partners in crime...er...adventure and bounces*)

Aurora looked at Sariss, her face set as stone awaiting the next spell to grace her. Sariss and all of these spells really didn't seem to mix. Sariss was such a gentle Slytherin from what Aurora knew, yet she weilded many spells that could cause hurt and pain. It didn't take her long to see which spell Sariss had up her sleeve as it was quickly heading down the platform towards her at top speed. Aurora fumbled to raise her wand in the air again. But it...was...caught...on...something! She pulled at it and soon learned that it was caught on a loose thread on her robes. "Damn it!" she muttered heavily. Looking up quickly, Aurora saw there was no time to free her wand just then and she did not wish to fall victim to this particular spell either again. She swallowed the lump in her thoat and jumped off of the platform down to the floor, rolling to her knees. Aurora looked up in time to see the Flame crash into a tapestry that was behind her. Aurora was always fond of the tapestry of old fashioned duelers way back in the day. "Oh no..." she groaned and got to her feet, watching it begin to burn. She didn't weild a powerful enough water spell to put out the fire and so, she watched helplessly until the middle was completely burned away, where Aurora saw an entrance of some sort. She didn't know why it surprised her. She was in a world of magic. Her eyes darted back to Sariss and then to the hole in the wall, leading to blackness. She walked closer, the flames just about gone and tried to take a look inside. It was still dark.

Everything seemed to have decided to happen in slow-motion. The fireball heading towards Aurora... Aurora helplessly fumbling around with her wand that seemed to have caught onto her robes in such an unfortunate manner that she found herself unable to assume blocking stance... Aurora jumping off the platform, barely escaping the fire... The fireball zooming towards an old tapestry that did not only look like it would easily catch fire but actually did so. Sariss's jaw virtually dropped to the ground, her eyes tearing up. Oh my oh my oh my... That couldn't be happening... She was doomed! How was she supposed to explain this to Professor Trimble? How was she supposed to explain that she had set alight a tapestry that was probably worth more than all the money and jewels (and their amount was considerable) that were in her Gringotts vault? "Oh dear..." Sariss whispered and ran along the entire platform to the other end of it, down the stairs that Aurora had climbed up earlier, towards the still lightly burning tapestry. Better put out the albeit now small flames. "Madefacere!" In all the hectic and worry, Sariss had at first totally overlooked that there was an opening behind the tapestry. A secret passage or just an old corridor that wasn't used anymore because it had caved in or something? Who could tell? "You okay?" the Slytherin asked shakily, enquiring as to Aurora's well-being.
Posted by: Aurora Braelin May 25 2004, 02:37 AM
"You okay?" "Quite alright," Aurora said keeping her now free wand in her hand. Should they go in and see what adventure lies ahead? Aurora looked at the shakey Slytherin and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Relax," she said and smiled. "I'm sure a professor will be able to put up another one..." she didn't sound too reassuring. Aurora took a step back, her hand falling from the Slytherin's shoulder. She looked up at the damage done to the tapestry, the one that always had caught her eye every time she walked in, sat down and waited for an opponent. Aurora looked at Sariss again. "What do you suppose it is?" she asked.

"I don't know... Secret passageway? Not-so-secret passageway? Well, most certainly it isn't secret now anymore..." Sariss mumbled, chewing on her lip, looking around for Silverdawn for a moment before stepping closer to the opening in the wall. I bet there are crawly things in there... Crawly things galore, probably... She shuddered. "Trimble is going to kill me..." she added, touching the charred remains of a once glorious tapestry.

Watching Sariss and Aurora parry back and forth with magic that she could never possibly possess, Silverdawn's mouth was literally agape in awe as all sorts of spells shot forth whilst powerful shields and even stronger spells were raised in counter of said hexes. Flares of fire, showers of water, sparkles... all were used, and the young Hufflepuff could only stare in shock as a stream of fire licked towards where Aurora was. Meeps! Silver squeaked silently as the Ravenclaw jumped off the platform as the flames continue its doomed path towards one of the tapestries against the wall. Squeezing her eyes shut, the silvan-haired child dreaded to see what became of the ancient piece of work... The smell of charred cloth was more than enough of an answer. There seemed to be a sudden moment of awful silence; one that rarely happened in the Chamber. It might have had been her imagination though... for the salle seemed noisy soon enough. Daring a peek, Silverdawn opened her eyes, only to widen even more at the gaping hole lying behind the once-magnificent tapestry. Picking Thorny up (Ithil was already trailing beside her), Silver quietly walked over to Sariss and Aurora's side, glancing at the 'black hole' with much caution. The fire had just gone straight in and still, it was dark, meaning that the flare charm hadn't hit anything solid yet... How far did this tunnel go? Reaching the newly-discovered tunnel, Silverdawn took one glance at the tattered tapestry and grimaced. It was a pity this pretty thing was burnt so badly... But then again, what could it have hidden behind its glory? Now that she was closer to the hole, Silver couldn't help but shiver at the coldness emanating from the supposed secret passageway. It seemed so old and unused that the Huffie could literally envision what was inside... Cobwebs... Bats... Maybe even skeletons... Talk about an overactive imagination! "Erm, Sarissy, Aurora, are we going in...?"
Posted by: Aurora Braelin May 26 2004, 03:05 AM
"Why go in?" she asked. "Merlin knows what lies in there. Bugs of all sorts, perhaps sorts that I know not of. Remember, this is a place of magic. And like I said, Merlin knows what lies in there. If you'd like to run along in there, be my guest. I personally have seen enough in this castle to last me a life time." Aurora unconsciously took a step away from the hole in the wall. "I mean, if you are looking to see what's in there, why not just send sparks in there? It should give you sense of what exactly you are getting yourselves into, don't you think?" she murmured as she sat down on the edge of the platform, facing the hole in the wall. "A bit unreal, if you ask me. I mean, passage ways in this castle normally have hinges or something to open up. But this one didn't and it does seem a little big to move, if you know what I'm saying. Perhaps it was not meant to be moved. Perhaps it was placed there to hide something, obviously this passage, but what if there is something inside it that was meant to be hidden. "Like I said, you want an adventure, make sure you know what you are getting into," she said, twirling her wand innocently. 'Though, if you go in, I'm certainly going after you...doesn't mean I want to...' she thought idly.

Sariss gulped. Barely listening to what Aurora was saying, all she could do was stare at the charred remains. All that was in her mind seemed to be 'I'm dead. Someone is so going to kill me for this. I'm absolutely dead. Or worse... They could ban me from the Duelling Chamber for this.' She barely noticed that Silverdawn approached her, Thorny in hand, followed by Ithil, the little pretty fluffball. What she did notice then, however, was Thorny practically jumping out of Silverdawn's small hand, landing on the floor with a little smack that was followed by a "Sniff!" and the sound of hedgehog paws scuttling towards the dark passage with what was practically lightning speed. Sariss blanched. "Thorny!" Everything around her forgotten, she caused the tip of her wand to ignite and dashed in after her beloved little hedgehog.

*Aurora Braelin stood up from the platform she was sitting on as Sariss dashed after her hedgehog into the darkness. That was unexpected. Didn't hedgehogs listen? ( Soon, Sariss was quickly out of sight and Aurora was pondering on what she should do. Where was Professor Trimble? Perhaps off to speak to another dueler or something with an irritating question. Who knew? Coming to a decision, Aurora strode into the darkness after Sariss, wondering where she could be. It wasn't long before she saw the light of her wand again, searching for the hedgehog. Aurora looked around in the darkness, used to seeing in the dark when needed. "Sariss...I've got a bad feeling..." she muttered.

Shuddering at Aurora's mention of bugs and all sorts of creepy crawlies, Silverdawn glanced over at the dark-haired Slytherin, wondering what she made of the Ravenclaw's revelation. If she'd remembered correctly, Sariss was never one for any bugs or the like, especially spiders. Worse, such tunnels are usually filled with cobwebs and scary things that no eleven-year-old will like to see... and Silver highly doubted that she's among the rarity who's not afraid of anything in the dark. Still, she wasn't given much time to ponder over whether or not she should enter, for Thorny had decided for all of them that an adventure was in order - the ickly hedgehog had bounded from Silverdawn's grasp and scuttled into the inky darkness before anyone could react to the new discovery. The reaction thereafter was almost instantaneous - Sariss had bounded for the dark passageway without much thought, which was very un-Slytherin-ish of her. As the light of Sariss' 'lumos' faded from her view, Silverdawn gulped and turned to glance at Aurora. The elder Ravenclaw was walking into the darkness calmly, causing the silvan-haired child to squeak. Now both of them are in... Fidgeting slightly, Silver wondered if she ought to enter too, and as Ithil beckoned over to the passageway with a slight purr, the child steeled herself and bounded into the darkness too. "Erm, Ithil... I'll need you to lead me." Silverdawn started in a small voice, "I don't know how to perform the 'lumos' spell yet." "Meow..."
Posted by: Sariss May 31 2004, 04:03 AM
"Thornyyyyyy!" Sariss called out repeatedly as she stumbled into the passageway that was only barely visible to her due to the little light that her wand cast on its surroundings. The ground was slightly uneven, which was an indicator as to the fact that the passageway must be a rarely used one. The cobwebs that Sariss had to brush out of her way supported this assumption too. Sariss froze in mid-movement. Cobwebs?! "Ewww!" she squeaked and jumped around wildly, trying to rid her face and hair of the cobwebs and her skin of the sensation that only cobwebs could cause. Cobwebs and the thought that their creators must be hanging around somewhere. Hanging... or lowering themselves onto her head... or crawling up her feet. She cautiously raised her wand to check on the ceiling... but there didn't seem to be ceiling... well... at least not in the range that the light of her wand had. Gulping, the Slytherin looked around in the almost total darkness. It seemed that it swallowed even the majority of her wandlight. How was she supposed to find Thorny in here? "Thorny? Thorny... Where are you, ickle?" Sariss asked with a shaky voice, her ears oddly sensitive to the sound of many tiny scuttling insect legs. Or was the sound only in her imagination?
Posted by: Aurora Braelin May 31 2004, 04:42 AM
*Aurora Braelin smirked in the darkness as she could hear Sariss sound her disgust of the cobwebs. So there was indeed 'creepy-crawlers' behind the tapestry. Sariss began to jump up and down at the fact that she had walked into cobwebs. There was no being deal, really. Aurora had slept on forest ground only to wake up with slugs attached to her clothing. Very disgusting indeed. She was calm. Upon hearing Sariss's disgust, Aurora mentally thought she wouldn't like army-style camping, nor would Aurora like to take her on night navigation if she sounded like that when absolute silence was needed. Aurora slipped past Sariss to get ahead of her. Her wand was still in her hand as she moved. She also was able to hear the sound of those creepy crawlers. Upon careful inspection of the wall in the darkness as she found no use of lighting her wand, she came to an unsettling conclusion. "These walls are moving..." she murmured, moving back to the middle of the passage. "And something just moved past my feet!" Aurora turned back to see Sariss and Silverdawn then faced the darkness again. "The path seems to get smaller as you walk on...the walls close in on you..." Aurora was walking slowly deeper into the darkness. "The height gets smaller too." Aurora heard a crunching noise beneath her as she crushed a... bug? "Definately a bunch of moving things in here." Her voice echoed and she got a shiver. Aurora began to walk back towards the light of the dueling chamber. "Okay...big spider over there...or perhaps it was your hedgehog. May wanna check it out, Sariss..." Aurora smirked again, glad she didn't have an animal in there. Truth be told, she hated bugs.
Posted by: Sariss May 31 2004, 09:40 PM
Sariss stood there in the darkness, trying to calm down. Her wand seemed to be useless. There seemed to be a total void in there. Having established that the ceiling seemed to be so far up that her wand couldn't illuminate it, she tried to guess in which direction except for behind her the walls were closest. But there seemed to be nothing that would reflect the light of her wand and thus allow her to actually make out how big the passage was. Or was it a large room? She took a few more steps. At least she could see the ground. What was slightly calming was the absence of crawly things within her wandlight-range. Maybe it was a magically enlarged room... Maybe it only appeared on a certain day? If that was so, then she had better be careful. Sariss could hear Aurora babbling on endlessly, spreading panic by babbling something about moving walls. Geez, Sariss would be happy if she could see any walls at all. All that was there for her was the ground and a lot of cobwebs. And boy, did she make a mental note to herself to never ever be caught with Aurora in a place where utter silence and calm thinking was needed. The Ravenclaw seemed to be highly prone to panic attacks and overly dramatic behaviour in situations in which silence and cool thinking were the wiser thing to do. But underneath Sariss's calm exterior was the worry of never seeing her beloved ickle hedgehog again. The chamber/passageway seemed to be very vast. Impossible to find Thorny in there. "Thorny, come on! This is not funny! Thorny?" Sariss rummaged around in a pocket of her robes, pulling out a little bag with dried fruits. "Thorny? Hungry? I have your favourite treat here! Silvy? Can Ithil find Thorny?"

Following the echoes of Sariss' voice, Silverdawn had been able to catch up with the two elder students, but the light from Sariss' Lumos spell showed nothing that the child particularly liked. Dirt ground, a ceiling that seemed to extend into endless space, cobwebs... All of which weren't things that anyone of them would've liked thinking about. Sariss was starting to sound frantic, her voice unlike that of the usual confident tone that Silver was used to listening, and with the current situation at hand, she knew that the darkness was tensing the dark-haired prefect more than it seemed. Heck, even the silvan-haired child was getting the goosebumps, and she had Ithil by her side for comfort. Furthermore, Aurora's words were causing the girl to be quite scared - she'd never been under such circumstances before, and the musky scent of the entire place was making her rather whoozy and light-headed. Quickly taking a bite out of the fudge she usually kept in her pocket, the sweetness of the candy woke her up immediately; something which she was grateful for. Ithil was purring quietly by her legs, as if scenting mice, and Silverdawn shuddered. The soft noises in the background - she wasn't sure if it was in front of or behind them - literally guaranteed that bugs were around, and it unsettled her badly. At least Sariss and Aurora are here too... She thought consolingly, knowing that the two elder girls were more adept to magic and will most probably know spells that can help in anything comes up. "I'm not sure if Ithil is able to do it, Sarissy, but we can try." Silverdawn replied quietly as she kneeled down to where Ithil was, "Ithil, remember Rissy's hedgehog? Thorny?" From under the dim wandlight, Silverdawn could barely see her kitten's nod - it was only her purr of acknowledgement that allowed Silver to continue, "Can you help us find him, please?" Ithil just purred once more, a long, lazy one that sounded suspiciously like 'you-owe-me-one-mistress', causing Silverdawn to smile as the kitten scampered along the direction of where they're heading. Pulling at Sariss' sleeve, the child started, "Erm, Rissy? I think we're on the right track..."
Posted by: Sariss Jun 7 2004, 04:55 AM
There was a pulling on Sariss's sleeve, accompanied by Silverdawn's slightly insecure-sounding voice. "You think so?" the Slytherin asked and followed Ithil the feline to... yes... a corner... So the room wasn't as big as it seemed. It just seemed to swallow light very easily. Sariss tapped an odd-looking stone in the wall near the bottom. It looked not in exactly great shape. If this part of the castle were usually accessible, surely Filch would have fixed this, right? It looked corroded and porous. And indeed... it gave in at that point, opening a small hole in the stonework... ... through which crawled... ... crawly things galore... "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!" Sariss screeched in a manner that was not very in accordance with her usually calm and collected demeanour. If her companions in this adventure knew what was good for them they would not breathe a single word of this to anybody--or they would find themselves facing a wand that would have a not very pleased Sariss on its other end.
Posted by: Silverdawn Kadamon Jun 10 2004, 05:55 PM
"I should hope so..." Silverdawn replied uncertainly as she followed Sariss to another dark corner illuminated only by Aurora and Sariss' wands. It was starting to feel disconcerting to be in the dark for so long... Everywhere around there seemed to be endless nothing, and there was this awful ringing that sounded in both her ears that left her more than just a little irritated. Then there was Sariss' scream. That came from out of the blue, causing the poor Hufflepuff to jump slightly and look ahead at whatever was there in front of Sariss in worry. Could it be a huge monster? Another cerberus? A grim? Peeking from behind Sariss, Silverdawn too, squeaked on seeing the bane of majority of the female populus - icky bugs. Crawling from within that small hole now visible through the pale wandlight, Silverdawn immediately drew out her wand, an action that comforted her quite a bit... It felt as if its very presence soothed her jittery mood. Then, remembering what she'd seen from her Transfiguration text, the girl flicked her wand and muttered, "Animare." She had never tried the spell before, seeing as it was at least several chapters ahead of where she was, but there couldn't possibly be any harm testing them in the hopes of changing them to something that she could stomach... right? As the spell shot towards one of the bugs, Silverdawn watched in rapt interest as the bug slowly turned into a variety of vivid colors, feathery wings forming out from its body before popping into... "Eeks!" The child squeaked as the now flying bug that seemed like a mutated bug mixed with a butterfly zoom around before hitting itself into something cold and hard. A wall it seemed. Gulping, the only other word Silver could utter was, "Uh-oh."

*Aurora Braelin looked around at the walls as she heard Sariss screech behind her. Aurora jumped at the sudden sound and almost hit her head on the low ceiling. "Jeez!" she exclaimed aloud and turned to look at Sariss. Aurora saw the Hufflepuff perform a small upon a bug which gave it wings now. "Oh joy," she muttered. Aurora looked at the bugs slithering around in the hole behind the tapestry. This was indeed weird. Why hadn't anyone cleared this out? What did it used to be? Surely it must have been something that just collapsed. Perhaps when the castle was rebuilt this part was forgotten? Who knew the answers to such questions? "You thought you'd bring something, that's already alive, to life?" she questioned the Hufflepuff softly. "That's funny," she giggled. "So, Sariss, what do you suggest? We could alway freeze them. There isn't a whole lot that I know about this, so..." she trailed off, hoping Sariss could give her an idea. "Could always enchant them to stay away from us. Or we can just get out of here," she nodded, feeling bugged by the flying bug.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!" Sariss's voice came incredibly high-pitched when one of those nasty crawly things sprouted wings courtesy of Silverdawn's messed up spell and flew around. If that bug were to be heading for Sariss's face or get entangled in her hair, the girl would probably freak out so bad that some sort of accidental magic would occur. Fortunately, the bug flew smack into the wall, and Sariss had regained her wits enough to jump back away from the crawly things. That hole in the wall needed to be blocked. "Litho!" she cried out, flicking her wand in the somewhat slashing Compendarius motion, so as to conjure up a small piece of rock that would just be the right size to block that opening. Her heart was still beating in her throat, and her voice sounded hoarse from all that Scream Queen screeching. But the opening was blocked. "Much better..." Sariss muttered. But where was Thorny? The little hedgehog could have scuttled Merlin knew where! "Thornyyyy!" (ooc: Can someone drag panicky Sariss out of here please?)
