(ooc: Closed. Only for Seb_Darwin and Sariss) Sariss entered the Trophy Room for the first time during her entire stay at Hogwarts Castle. It was an impressive sight. Goblets and plates in silver and gold, jewel-encrusted and engraved. There was an array of trophies that had been awarded to tiny Professor Flitwick during his days as a duelling champion. And there was the Quidditch Cup. Sariss smiled sadly. This year had not been the greatest for Slytherin. Same with the House Cup. But next year... Yes... Next year, Slytherin would get both. Oh dear... I almost ended up cleaning them all, she thought to herself. Madam Pomfrey's voice was still ringing in her ears. Like a live Howler... Sariss continued reading names and goggling at all those awards...

Seb had slept for the last two, or was it three days now, and he really needed to stretch his legs. Up to now he'd walked around the known places in the Dungeons, made his way up to the Kitchens where he got a snack, and this is where he had ended. It had been a while since he'd been here since it was re-opened earlier in the school year. "Sariss? What are you doing here?" He called out, waking through the open door. "Hm, we'll win that next year." Seb said, pointing to the Quidditch Trophy. Shame I won't be on the team.

"Sariss? What are you doing here?" a voice called, and Sariss jumped a mile high. "Hm, we'll win that next year." She exhaled when Seb came closer and indicated the Quidditch Cup. Sariss hadn't seen Seb in days. Actually, she hadn't spoken to many people at all. Not that she had been avoiding them. It was just that she hadn't found the words to join in a decent conversation--apart from the Tonks-incident in the Hospital Wing. "I hope so," she answered, looking longingly at the huge cup. Her heart was still in her throat. "You startled me a bit. Didn't think anybody would come up here during this time of the day. Just checking what I would have spent hours polishing if I had got detention..." she trailed off.
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Aug 23 2003, 10:19 PM
Seb chuckled. "You? Get a detention? You must've done something really bad. Oh, did you..." But Seb's mind went blank. He couldn't imagine Sariss doing anything that would result in detention. "...Nope. Ok I can't even guess. C'mon, tell me what you did."

Sariss couldn't help but chuckle at the memory. "Alright... so... you know, how this Death Eater stuff got to me, right?" she began. "So I went to the Hospital Wing to see how bad it was. If there's one thing I can't stand it's not knowing... So I met Tonks. It's hard to overlook her, really. Pink hair and and all. She's cool." Sariss nodded for emphasis, remembering the previous day's events. "She's a metamorphmagus, you know? She can change her entire appearance. And since she was really fed up with the Hospital Wing and thought that Madam Pomfrey had enough patients, she wanted to sneak out. So a Gryffindor lent her a spare cloak and I gave her some parchment and my quill so she could leave a note for Poppy. Then we crept out." Sariss rolled her eyes at herself. "Silly me forgot something of course. My stupid ink bottle. So I went back and ran right into Madam Pomfrey. She cornered me... Her voice is still ringing in my ears... She was shouting something about detention and stuff, but I got away with a warning and temporary deafness," she joked and blushed a bit. "Quite embarrassing really. Me, sly and cunning? No, siree, not this girl."

Seb thought for a moment. "But wouldn't Madame Pomfrey notice a pink haired woman walk past her? It's not fair. I never get to meet the important people." He leant forward onto the cabinet glass to look at the names on the trophy and shields, his breath causing the glass to cloud up. Not a lot of things were for Slytherins, but mainly Gryffindor. ... AND Harry Potter. He must've been one annoying show off smarmy git. Seb thought. I bet he even won awards for simply breathing.

"Oh, she couldn't have noticed Tonks leaving the ward," Sariss began to explain. "She looked like a... maybe 12-year-old student when we snuck out. It was amazing. I must have been gaping like a fish." Seb was glancing at all those awards. Sariss followed him with her eyes. "Not much for Slytherin," she stated the obvious. "Why is it that it's always the Gryffindors who get all those awards? Rarely ever a Hufflepuff gets an award. The Ravenclaws are doing just as badly as we are. Must be a conspiracy--or we're just too stupid. Sly, my arse... With all the house points we've thrown away this year it's not surprising that we're coming last." She sighed and shook her head.

After wiping the glass clean with his sleeve, he turned to Sariss. "Wow! You got to see her change?! Could you tell it was Tonks? Any give aways? Wow..." He looked once more at the cabinet. "I know. We're losing points quicker than Hogwarts is losing its happiness." He gave a shrug, then massaged his forehead for a second or two. For the last week now he'd been getting back his headaches. He'd mainly been sleeping to keep them away, but this was a school after all, and he had to attend lessons. "Well maybe we can get more points the next time around, and hoperfully the others will learn their lesson about loosing us points."
Posted by: Sariss Aug 23 2003, 11:02 PM
"There was absolutely nothing to give her away as Tonks as soon as she'd changed. It was amazing. Well, her trousers were too long, so she had to roll them up for as long as she was student-size, but other than that..." Sariss grinned. "It was perfect. Wish I could do that too." She grimaced. "Stupid people who always mess it up. It had looked so good for us... With a bit more effort, we might have snatched the House Cup at the very last moment. But noooooooo... It was not meant to be." Her smile faded. "Yes, you're right... Hogwarts isn't a very happy place anymore..." Seb was massaging his temples for a moment. "Hey, are you okay?" Sariss asked him. "Headache? Do you want to sit down? You're a bit pale around your nose..."
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Aug 23 2003, 11:09 PM
"Me? Yeah, no i'm ok!" He said, "Well the way Professor Snape and Sinistra are coming down hard with punishment, I'm sure we'll win next time. As long as them first years don't mess things up." Seb took a look around for first years. "It's strange, I can't believe we've been here almost a year already."
Posted by: Sariss Aug 23 2003, 11:17 PM
"Are you sure?" Sariss asked. She was doubtful. Seb was one of those people who always said that they were okay even if it was obvious that that was not the case. He also changed the topic very quickly. That was not unusual, actually... but Sariss felt that he was not as okay as he pretended to be. "Let's sit down, shall we?" she suggested and sat down on a bench that stood only a yard or two away from them. She looked up at Seb. "An entire year... and so many things have changed... It didn't feel like an entire year to me. I can hardly believe we'll be off for the holidays soon. I wonder if anything is going to change over the summer holidays..." she trailed off.
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Aug 23 2003, 11:22 PM
Seb shrugged, as he followed Sariss to the bench. "A lot will change over the Summer for me. I haven't seen you recently to say, but mother had the baby. I say that, as they didn't share with me her name." He went silent for a moment. "Oh yes, I'll have a jolly time on my school holiday." Seb told her, rolling his eyes. "Would you be going on holiday, do you think? Overseas, nice and relaxing place, perhaps.."
Posted by: Sariss Aug 23 2003, 11:38 PM
"She had the baby? Oh..." Sariss said when Seb was silent for a moment. She had an inkling of what that would mean for Seb. His parents would ignore and shun him even more--if that was possible at all. "Oh yes," Seb spoke up again. "I'll have a jolly time on my school holiday. Would you be going on holiday, do you think? Overseas, nice and relaxing place, perhaps.." Sariss shook her head. "No. I don't think Frank and Helen will go on holiday. They don't like that. Say the beaches are too crowded... and so are the museums, which they wouldn't set foot in anyway. Well, Helen might eventually. Frank prefers his computer and TV when he has a few days off. And Helen likes to play golf. There's always a bit of arguing about it when she tries to get Frank to accompany her for a round of golf. But it's not serious arguing. Frank would just roll his eyes for a moment and then follow her out. They took me with them a couple of times too, but I don't really like it. So, I'll just try and borrow a few books from the library and avoid sunburn all holiday." She shrugged. "It doesn't matter. Even if they took me to the greatest places in the world, I'd still miss this place... and you."

"Well there was an offer to visit, but.." He finished in a shrug, as he remembered how she didn't want to visit, then changed her mind through guilt. Seb soon put a stop to that. "I'm not even sure if Cien still really wants to visit, truth be told. She has a new family now, Chaz, and Mr. Banges. She wouldn't like it much anyway, the atmosphere would start to get to her eventally." He rubbed his head for a moment. "But don't get me wrong. I don't intend to stay there each and every day. No, no. I'll visit Great Uncle Dervish, go on days out, maybe even go see Connor."

"Well there was an offer to visit, but..." Seb said and shrugged. Sariss winced. How was she supposed to tell him that she'd really like to visit him, but... Oh well, she'd already explained it to him anyway. She bit her lip. No, no. I'll visit Great Uncle Dervish, go on days out, maybe even go see Connor." "Have you not spoken to Cien and asked her? Or hasn't she said anything? I mean... I haven't seen either one of you in days... And when both of you disappear from the face of the earth, it's usually together..." she trailed off, realising how silly she sounded. "Who's Connor?" she asked.
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Aug 24 2003, 12:06 AM
"Usually together? Good one. Made me laugh. Har. De Har." Sebs eyes narrowed slightly, as he went off in thought. Cien and Seb had drifted apart, no denying that. But Seb knew she needed her space to get to know her new brother and father. "Who's Connor? Ah, he was my best friend. Yeah. He only spent a few months here at Hogwarts, before his parents pulled him out. His mother placed him in another school. I thinks he knew what was eventually going to happen." He licked his lips before taking a breath. "We've known each other forever. His father and mine both work together."
Posted by: Sariss Aug 24 2003, 12:14 AM
Sariss was confused by Seb's words. She didn't understand why Seb went all sarcastic due to her remark. She knew it had been a silly thing to say. But that was the way she perceived it. "Who's Connor? Ah, he was my best friend," Seb explained then, and Sariss listened as he told her a bit about him. "Oh..." she said. That seemed to be her first reaction to everything that was news to her. "Um... where does your father work anyway?" she asked.
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Aug 24 2003, 12:20 AM
Seb sighed. "He spends half his time traveling around, checking out brooms, how they're used, then getting feedback. Then, he'll spend the rest of his time in the workshop, improving brooms, making new ones and.. stuff like that." He gave a shudder, reason unknown, and looked down to his hands.
Posted by: Sariss Aug 24 2003, 12:34 AM
"Mhmm..." Sariss nodded. "Sort of a broom constructor? Developer? Must be an interesting occupation. He's not at home often, eh?" she said softly, noticing how sad Seb looked once again. She wanted to hug him, but something kept her from doing so. Sariss wasn't a 'natural hugger', so to speak. "A busy man," she added.
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Aug 24 2003, 12:40 AM
"Yup. Busy busy broom man." Seb said as he stood up. "Listen, Sari mate. I'm going to go for some fresh air now. Been indoors far too long. I'll talk to you later, ok?" With a wave, he left the trophy room.

"Yup. Busy busy broom man." Seb stood up and seemed to stretch a bit. "Listen, Sari mate. I'm going to go for some fresh air now. Been indoors far too long. I'll talk to you later, ok?" "See you," Sariss said, nodded and smiled slightly when Seb waved his goodbye. "I very much hope so," she added when he was gone. After a few more minutes in silence, she also left the Trophy Room.
