Sariss was busy handing out treats to the animals in the shop and playing with them while she was at it. But she gave the crawly things a wide berth. Spiders and grasshoppers were not much to her liking. Besides, giving them treats was an odd thought. And playing with them... touching them... She shuddered. No way. Owls were so much nicer. Even the goldfish merrily waved its fins when it received an extra bit of food. Sherlock had also accompanied Sariss to the Magical Menagerie that day and perched on a branch that seemed to grow out of the wall behind the counter. Thorny was curled up in a box of try leaves and sniffed when he/she/it poked his/her/its nose out every now and then. All in all it was a very peaceful day. Miss Feline was in the back of the shop and was taking care of the bills and a couple of orders--like usual. The young woman was as good as never to be seen inside the actuall shop. Sariss gave Sherlock a little extra treat. "There you go. Are you bored, Sherlock?"

The day was dragging for Seb. The quidditch game was over, none of his homework had to be handed (or actually touched) yet, and he had no desire to duel recently. People were just plainly being boring, so Seb decided he would visit Sariss at work. Tara was out exploring, Torti was, naturally, sleeping, fish was being a fish, so all that was left was his beloved Tua. He placed the lizard in his pocket, throw over his cloak and left for Hogsmeade. As always, he gave a little wave into Dervish & Banges as he passed, knowing too well his great uncle would be too busy for a visit. That was a thought - would Sariss be busy? Afterall, the new pets had been bringing loads of new business to the shop. Well she can always tell me to leave. he thought. The boy stopped outside Honeydukes, pressing his face up against the window. His stomach gave a little grumble as he saw a spoilt little girl in pink robes skip up to her mother, arms full of sweeties (and what Seb noticed as coconut covered chocolate balls). With a sigh, he turned and continued towards the Menagerie. "Hey," Seb called a few minutes later as he pushed open the door to the magical pet shop. He could feel Tua begin to move around in his pocket - he obviously knew where he was. Seb sniffed, maybe it was the "pet" smell. "You're not too busy for a chat, are you?"

"Rather quiet in here, I know--" As if on cue, the little bell above the door rang and Sariss turned around to see none other than Seb enter the Magical Menagerie. "You're not too busy for a chat, are you?" he asked. How could he ask that? As if Sariss could ever be too busy for him! In fact, she had even begun to just drop her quill and leave her homework be when he showed up. It was far nicer to be with Seb than pour over homework. Well, of course, Sariss being Sariss she did her homework eventually. She was just not as 'homework comes first' as she used to be. "By all means no!" Sariss exclaimed, grinning at Seb. She put the bag with the owl treats down on the counter and then approached him to bid him the welcome that he deserved. Smiling up at him, she hugged him tightly--well, not just as tightly anymore when she noticed that something was crawling around in his pocket--and gave him a long kiss. If Miss Feline came in now, both their faces would probably blush crimson and they'd begin to stutter and all. "Hello, Mr Darwin," Sariss said then, her cheeks flushed and the corners of her mouth curled in a little smile. "Your nose is cold."

"Boy, if you greet all your customers like that, I would really start to feel threatened!" Seb laughed as he dreamily gazed into his girlfriends eyes, "Actually, maybe I should go outside and come back in, see what kind of greeting I get then! And if you stood outside for long enough, your nose would be cold." Just then Seb had a random thought of pushing her outside just to prove his point, but the look on his face, the one that made him simply melt changed his mind. "I'm sure the heat in here will thaw out my nose. Give it three minutes and you can try again," he winked, then reached his hand into his robes pocket. "Brought Tua along, is it ok if I place the little darling in the tank with the others? He needs more of a social life. Tara was off exploring so I thought would bring the lonely chap," Seb explained. "Oh, don't worry, I'll know which one he is, and anyway, how many lizards do you know which roll over on command?" Seb walked a little further into the shop away from the door, in case anyone happened to walk in, pushing him over. "Been busy?" he then asked her before licking his lips.

"It's quieted down a bit now," Sariss replied and moved away from the door also. So the somewhat quivering lump was Tua. It was so odd that Sariss just could not tell those lizards apart... "Sure, put him in the tank... if you're sure that you'll be able to find him again. I don't think I could. They all look the same to me," Sariss gave a little embarrassed chuckle. "I can tell all the owls apart though." Sariss grinned and rolled her eyes. "And no, it's not just because we have eight different species." She glanced over at Thorny who was scuttling about in the box with the leaves and making noises. Maybe he/she/it was gobbling one of the snails that Sariss had placed inside for a little snack. Curiously, Sariss found every being with more than four legs disgusting, but beings with no legs at all, like worms or snails weren't much of a bother to her. "So... What brings you to this pet-infested shop?" Sariss smiled as she sat on top of the counter and dangled her feet, Thorny causing the dry leaves to rustle some more as he/she/it poked out and curiously sniffed the air.

"So... What brings you to this pet-infested shop?" Sariss asked as she sat on the counter, her feet dangling. As if she had to ask. "You," He simply stated before he leant over, returning the kiss he was earlier greeted with. "I, love, you," He whispered into her ear. If felt like it had been ages since he had told her that and even if it made him sound really soppy and un-Slytherin he didn't care. Seb wouldn't even mind if someone came stepped in now, as long as Sari's job wasn't in danger, it was all fine. I'm sure she wouldn't get fired anyway. he hugged her then pulled back. "I'm so glad I have you," Seb then chuckled, blushing a little. "So, uh," He scratched the the top of his head, "How are the new animals selling? Making loads of money right? Oh, I have a rich girlfriend." His stomach gave a little rumble as he only had a little for lunch. Maybe he could take Sariss to Madam Puddifoot's later after her work.

Seb's kiss and his warm breath on her ear made Sariss shiver a bit, and when he said that he loved her, she went all gooey inside and blushed. All the compliments made not only her blush but also Seb. Too cute. She could smooch him all day long. Sariss, the practical and logical ice queen, turned girly and giggly only in Seb's presence. She giggled and gave him a kiss on his pink cheek. "Well, I only just got this month's paycheque, so yes, I'm quite the rich little spoilt brat. The pets were selling like candy during the last few weeks. First it was Christmas and many people got pets for presents, and then they began to spend the money that they got for Christmas on pets too. The shop is busy; the pets are selling just splendidly, Miss Feline is happy about the profit and I'm secretly happy that it's not quite as busy anymore. Yesterday, I sold a grasshopper... Only spiders are worse." Sariss wrinkled her nose at the thought of those many-legged creatures, hoped down from the counter and poked Seb in the stomach. "Somebody is hungry, or so it seems," she said with a smile. Nothing new there. When was Seb not hungry? Seb was always hungry. He did not eat every time that he was hungry--which was something that made Sariss frown as she believed in eating regularly, although she didn't listen to her own advice at times either--but his stomach was grumbling very often. She hugged him again and then looked up at him and gave a little pout, "I love you, Seb. Haven't said that in a while, I think. I will have to make up for that." Sariss nodded for emphasis. "I love you, I love you, I love you," she rattled of, grinning as she looked into Seb's dark green eyes. Her grin faded with every time that she said the words, just like the distance between their faces became smaller. "I love you," she whispered against his mouth and then kissed him again. Since the term had started, there had been so much to do and so little time for the two of them to spend together.

Couples usually got sick of each other after the first few months into their relationship, it was said, but Sariss and Seb seemed to be the exception. If anything, they seemed to fall in love with each other each time they saw their loved one next. This was good in Sari’s case, as Seb blinked a lot. Seb enjoyed the moment for a while longer before pulling back a little. “So, is my nose warmer now?” He chuckled, “Yeah, I am hungry. When do you leave? Or at least have a break next? Just, Madam Puddifoot's… it sounding quite appealing.” Seb’s stomach grumbled in agreement. “Doesn’t matter how long, I can wait. Though the way we just were I’m sure you would fired way before you would be due a break. Uh, naughty us?” a grin flew across Seb’s face; he was far past faking innocence about it all now. Anyway, Ms. Feline wasn’t in the room… “I should be buying a pet off you. I only ever came in here with the excuse to buy a new pet when really it was to see the beauty behind the counter,” Seb winked at Sariss before walking towards where Tua was happily eating the other lizards food. Takes after his daddy! His stomach grumbled once more. “I just don’t think there is anything else I want.” He let his eyes wander to the White hawk, just like the time he came in to buy Fish and Torti. “I doubt I’d be able to look after anymore. I can barely look after myself! But that’s one beautiful bird though…” Seb trailed off. Seb could just imagine the look on his parents faces when their House elves entered the main hall carrying a tank with two lizards in, one with a Tortoise, one with a goldfish bowl and the last, trailing, the white hawk. He wouldn’t be shocked if they told him to pay rent for them. Or at least complain whinge, moan and torture him with the fact he had so many pets. They’re to make up for the friends I don’t have anyway, Seb reminded himself, mentally pushing the mini movie of his parents complaining away. If this holiday they did complain, Seb would just have to make sure to buy an animal they truely hated. He didn't KNOW of any - but chances are there would be at least one. Once again, his stomach made itself heard.

Sariss chuckled. "If you'd buy a pet every time you needed an excuse to see me, we'd have to acquire new pets every other week. The shop would have to be expanded and everything... And I'd have more work to do, which would in turn lead you to come visit me more often, which would in turn cause you to buy more pets, which would in in turn cause Miss Feline to get more species..." By now Sariss was laughing at her own weirdness and the mental image of Seb surrounded by animals everywhere he went. The dorm would be cluttered with cages and boxes, the air filled with the sounds of hooting, purring, scuttling, screeching and chirping animals of all kinds. Like a zoo... And there'd be feathers flying around all over the place. She sobered after a while and sighed dreamily. "Yes, we have such beautiful birds now. They're my favourites, except for Thorny over there of course." She smiled and then scratched her head. "I still don't know whether it's a girl or boy hedgehog..." she mused. Well, it didn't look like there would be any more customers that day. It was still cold outside and it still went dark rather early, so that the students normally came into Hogsmeade in the afternoon after classes were over. So there was not much business to be expected that day anymore. "Maybe Miss Feline might allow me to leave a bit earlier than usual today?" Sariss wondered. "Just a moment... Stay right there..." She moved a bit away and then went back to Seb and gave him another kiss, her eyes sparkling mischievously. "Exactly there." With a little giggle she went into the back of the shop to ask Miss Feline whether she may leave the shop a bit earlier than usual. "Miss Feline," Sariss addressed her boss. "I was wondering if I could leave... well... now... You see, Seb has come for a visit and we were wondering whether we could pay a visit to Madam Puddifoots before it gets dark outside and all..."

*Rowena Feline looked up from the pile of receipts and old records just in time to see the blushing assistant walk in. "I was wondering if I could leave... well... now... You see, Seb has come for a visit and we were wondering whether we could pay a visit to Madam Puddifoots before it gets dark outside and all..." Mr. Darwin?.. Well, that certainly seemed to explain her blushing cheeks. Young love. Rowena mused for a bit before breaking into a coy smile. "Going to Madam Puddifoot's with Mr. Darwin? Why, how could I refuse, Miss Ravon? After all the Valentine's Day was yesterday... I will try to handle things a bit so feel free to leave early." She wanted to tease her assistant a little bit but the boy was waiting at the counter. So she gave her assistant another smile and waved her hand. "See you tomorrow, Miss Ravon. And tell Mr. Darwin that I will trust him with your safety on the way back to Hogwarts."

Sariss nervously chewed on her lip as she entered Miss Feline's office but found that her anxiety had been unnecessary. Miss Feline, being her kind and generous self, had agreed without further ado. "I'm sure he'll take good care of me, Miss Feline," Sariss said, her cheeks flushing again. "Thank you!" she breathed and then dashed back into the shop where Seb was waiting for her. "Sebbie!" she called out and grabbed her cloak. "Miss Feline allowed me to leave early. Isn't she the best? Oh yes, and she trusts you with my safety. She said so," Sariss chuckled a bit as she put on the cloak and took the little box in which Thorny was probably asleep right now.

"Sebbie! Miss Feline allowed me to leave early. Isn't she the best? Oh yes, and she trusts you with my safety. She said so," Sariss gave a little chuckle as she put on her cloak, then picked up the box with what Seb guessed Thorny was in. He had already got Tua away from the food in the Lizards tank and was waiting for Sariss at the counter. They were all set to go. “Oh,” He nodded happily, “She is the best! Thanks Ms. Feline!” Seb then called back, hoping it didn’t disturb her or the animals much. “Trusts me with your safety? So she should! Anyway,” The male grinned as they walked to the door. “If anyone would be safe, is you. You and your wand are a combination to be frightened of. Kinda like me and pineapples… Talking of pineapples, my stomach thanks Ms. Feline too.” Although Seb had often dined in Hogsmeade, Puddifoots was one place he hadn’t visited yet. He had no clue on the price of the food, never mind what kind of foot they offered. But then it was a coffee shop, wasn’t it? What else would they sell apart from the usual? Sometimes Seb wondered about his brain – if he actually had one or not. He imagined a little walnut rattling about up in his skull. Seb laughed and pulled the door open for Sariss and Thorny to pass through. “After you, my lady, and you’re paying, you rich girlfriend of mine, for I am a poor soul.” He coughed to hide a chuckle, leant forward to place a kiss on her cheek, then let her pas him. “Make sure you have your scarf on right, its bloody windy out there.” Seb then said. “Wouldn’t want a cold nose now.”

"Hmm... a kiss on the cheek will buy you a cup of tea..." Sariss began teasingly and adjusted her scarf a bit. "If you want something to eat too... well... You'll have to make up for the invitation... amply." Her cheeks flushed a bit as she gave a somewhat naughty grin and then giggled. Sariss wasn't much of a tease, or so she thought. "Anyway... of course I'm buying. It's the least I can do for my lovely boyfriend who has come to collect me..." she trailed off as they made their way across the street. Indeed, even though it was February already, it was still icy. Sariss was really looking forward to a cup of hot chocolate... or not... If she wanted to smooch Seb, tea or coffee would have to do... But when choosing between Seb and chocolate, there was no doubt about in favour of whom the choice would be made. As if Sariss would ever prefer chocolate over Seb...
