Sariss was walking along a corridor in the dungeons that she hadn't explored before. It was about time that she found her way around there too. After all, she was a prefect and should know her way around the castle better than your average first-year--and that was what it came down to in the end. Sariss didn't know more secret passages nor shortcuts to the classrooms than she had known on her first day. Always relying on the staircases to be cooperative when she was rushing from one lesson at one end of the castle to the next lesson at the other end. Terrible, really. How strange that this corridor looked familiar when she hadn't been here before. Maybe they shifted much like the staircases? She could have sworn that there hadn't been a door on the right side of the corridor when she'd opened the one on the left and had stepped into an empty classroom. Now that she had returned to the corridor, a door had appeared on the opposite side. She blinked slowly.

Seb had left the Common Room in a pretty happy mood, and it was all down to a pamphlet and an attached note someone had posted on the Notice Board. He was still letting out bouts of laughter every now and then. At that moment in time, Seb was idly walking around, humming his Pineapple song, which he had recently made up. Anything to avoid writing up his homework. He decided he would go see if Professor Hagrid was free so he could have some time with Merroo, the new creature he had created from CoMC. He checked his watch before diciding to take another route. Seb was getting sick of the same routine each time, going to the same places by the same route… Stopping in his tracks he looked around. He would usually take the door to his left, but instead he chose to take the one to his right; bypassing the main staircase to the Enterance. Now then, Seb, if you go right, right, left right, left, left, you should be on the right track, his brain told him, so Seb complied. He went through the right door, under the tapestry to the right after that, down a long coridoor to the left, up the stairs on the left from that… So that’s right, right, lef- - are you listening?! … Left, right, left ri.. Uh… What was the last direction you took? Yup. Seb was lost. “Great! Fan-bloomin’-fastic.” He exclaimed as he looked around him. Carefully walking forward into the silent and dusty coridoor. “Never trust your brain for directions. Couldn’t even lead me out of a paperbag.” Seb added, as he looked at a few doors further up the corridor. “Enney, meeney, miney, pinapple, rings, chunks or blended…” Seb sang quietly, pointing to each door in turn. After finishing his rhyme he walked towards the door on the far left. After quietly walking to it, he reached out, hoping there was no Professor on the other side. The door creaked as it opened, and dust flew out from the floor under. “ARGH!” Seb screamed, jumping back as he saw the figure in front of him, frowning, looking in trance. He didn’t really expect anyone to be there. He took another breath, “AAAAAAHH-huh?… Sari?!”

How odd was this? I swear this building is confusing me on purpose... Sariss reached for the door handle... and took a step back when the door opened on its own. How odd indeed. Now a mere Muggle might have jumped back and screamed, thinking that it might be a ghost or something like that. The door swung open with a creaking noise; a cloud of dust rose. Sariss suppressed a cough, squeezing her eyes shut for a moment. “ARGH!" a familiar voice shouted.“AAAAAAHH-huh?… Sari?!” The girl had taken in a quick breath and choked for a moment. She coughed and blinked up at Seb. "Seb?" she asked incredulously. "What are you doing down here? And... where exactly are we? I mean... Those corridors are moving about, aren't they? It's so confusing..." She brushed a strand of her hair out of her face and adjusted the obligatory bookbag that was almost cutting into her shoulder again. That Charms book... That heavy tome of book... Sariss couldn't help but smile at the sight of Seb though. If there had been no one, she might have found herself lost and might have panicked. But this corridor did look oddly familiar... Maybe she had passed through it when she had still been a first-year and had been looking for the Potions classroom? Oh if only her sense for directions were better... She should learn a spell that would help her find the right direction soon... There was this Four Point something Charm... Hmm... That one might be a good idea. She bit her lip and smiled somewhat sheepishly. "I think I'm a bit lost..."

Seb? What are you doing down here? And... where exactly are we? I mean... Those corridors are moving about, aren't they? It's so confusing..." Yes, that was Sariss all right. Relief flooded him as he saw her standing before him looking as beautiful as ever. She pushed a few strands of her hair behind her ears and adjusted her bag before biting her lip as she smiled at him. "I think I'm a bit lost..." “You’re not the only one,” He told her, closing the door behind him then taking a good look around, “I mean, I thought I would take another route to get to the entrance – I was going to see Merroo – and, well here I am!” Seb took a look around again, “I blame my brain, it was giving me directions, and it lead me here. I think we’re one floor up from the Common Room. I remember going up some stairs.” Seb shrugged, as he pointed to the door behind him. Seb thought for a moment, he was lost, and with Sariss. If he was lucky enough, no one would find them for 24 hours, and he wouldn’t have to play Quidditch, and he would get extra time for homework. It would be even better if he managed to get Sariss to push that Coat of Armour onto him. Coat of Armo--- “Where did that come from?! That so wasn’t there before, Sari, was it? I mean I didn’t take a good look as I was in shock for seeing you…” He said, as he took hold of her elbow and turned her around to face the direction where the Armour stood proudly. “Am I losing my…” He tapped the side of his head with his finger. Obviously, something strange was going on here. Maybe it was punishment from laughing at that Dobby poster? Or drawing earrings on it? Sebs lips curved into a smile, withholding fresh laughter. After a few more seconds thought, he licked his lips, “Maybe if we find a portrait we can ask it?” Seb shrugged, “Although, if a portrait is all the way down here, it may not be trustworthy. Oh, and,” He leant forward, placing a kiss on Sariss, “Hello!”

“Although, if a portrait is all the way down here, it may not be trustworthy. Oh, and...” Seb gently kissed Sariss. “Hello!” Sariss smiled dreamily. How come that she always went into somewhat of a daze when Seb kissed her? "Mmm... Now that was definitely worth getting lost." She shook herself, blushing slightly as she'd said something that sounded incredibly and absolutely stupid and embarrassing. Uh... now where were we? Goodness, if the teachers could see me like this, I'd never receive a single housepoint again... Not that it mattered. If it's not me, it's just another Slytherin... Yes, and you really don't want to always stand out, do you? People get incredibly envious and all when they're having the same name over and over again thrown into their faces. Mhmm... Like I wouldn't know... So... Where were we? "That coat of armour? Um..." Sariss thought for a while. "I'm not sure... I don't think it was there. Maybe the wall flipped over or something?" She looked back at him. Oh, he looked so incredibly handsome in that particular lighting that the torches created. She gave a small sigh. "Well... You know... I... I went along this corridor... and then I opened that d---," she broke off. When she wanted to indicate the door through which she'd left (and entered) that room previously, it was gone. "Uh... It's... hehe... it's not there anymore. The stale air down here must cause me to hallucinate..." She lifted a hand to her forehead.

"Mmm... Now that was definitely worth getting lost." Sariss said, and then blushed. Seb agreed, it was worth getting lost for. "That coat of armour? Um..." She asked, pausing in thought, "I'm not sure... I don't think it was there. Maybe the wall flipped over or something?" Seb gave a shrug as she sighed before continuing, "Well... You know... I... I went along this corridor... and then I opened that d---," She had turned to point, only to see a plain stone wall. "Uh... It's... hehe... it's not there anymore. The stale air down here must cause me to hallucinate..." Seb watched as she raised her hand to her forehead. He took out his wand. “Hallucinate? Well I’m real! But you know that,” He grinned, winking, “As long as the walls don’t start to close up on us, we’re fine!” I’m not panicking, nope, no way. “I mean, if they did, you know some kind of spell, right?!” He more pleaded than asked, as he turned 360’ on the spot. After letting a small whimper escape, he took Sari’s right hand, and quickly began to walk to the end of the corridor with her. “Maybe if we close our eyes for a few seconds, it’ll magically show us the door back to where we know! Oh god, what a time for the Castle to play a trick on us,” He sped up a tad, “I don’t want to die yet without having my Dinner! We’re having fruit salad too…” Seb sighed and came to a halt at the end of the corridor. Between the two torches, which were flickering from the drafts they caused, was a door with a rusty handle in the middle. He turned his head to look at Sariss. Her usually sweet smile was turned into a worried frown and the candles were casting shadows over her face. Oh, he just wanted to hug her tightly, just for a moment, so he did. “Being lost sucks, eh?” He said, as he pulled her towards him in a hug. Nope, not scared neither. He then let go and faced the door once more. “Well, either behind this door is another passage identical to this, or… somewhere we know.” Seb looked at the door indecisively. “I love you to pieces, but… you can open it." He raised his wand towards the door, just in case. His paranoia has suddenly risen another notch.
Posted by: Sariss Oct 3 2003, 01:54 AM
“I love you to pieces, but… you can open it," Seb said and raised his wand. Sariss had meanwhile let her wand slip from her sleeve, and it was now firmly grasped in her left hand. "I love you t---M-me?" Why me? I'm not brave, for heaven's sake! He isn't either. You both aren't Gryffindors. Like I didn't know. Oh... oh... oh... this is not a good idea... Sariss gulped. Opening that door was about the last thing on her list of things that she wanted to do. At the moment, 'sit in the Slytherin Common Room' and 'Kiss Seb' were her top priorities (and not necessarily in that order. But as the second one seemed to be impossible without at least a faint chance of the first one, she'd have to shift her priorities a bit and move 'open that door of which you don't know what might be on the other side' right to the top of her list. To put it mildly, Sariss did not like that thought. Not at all. She looked at Seb, looked at the door, looked back at Seb... took a deep breath and opened the door. She'd have opened the tank with the spiders for him if he had insisted on her to do it, so that creepy-looking door with the rusty door handle was really nothing, was it? Sariss laughed uneasily and grasped Seb's hand tighter, while slipping her wand into a pocket of her robes. Then she lifted a trembling hand, rested it on the door handle and pushed it down. It squeaked and creaked... and the noise echoed down the hallway... Shivering, Sariss pushed the door open, screwing her eyes shut while she did so...

"I love you t---M-me?" Sariss looked and sounded flabbergasted, and for a second, just one second he almost felt ashamed of letting her open the door. His male ego doing its part, reminding him that it’s the male thing to do, protect your female. Ha. Better off her protecting me! She is after all, better. Full stop! Seb thought to himself, as he felt Sariss grip tighter on his hand. The guilt was just about to make him stop her, change his mind so he would open the door when her hand shakily reached out towards the rust ridden handle. Ah well. Too late. Moving on… Ok, he had to admit it; he had no courage. Though it was no secret, really. He would openly admit it to anyone who wanted to know. Seb was not easily embarrassed in that sense. Give him a complement, he’d gush, make him sound stupid, he would join in the laughter and agree. Sariss had just opened the door and Seb caught a glance; she had shut her eyes. “What?!” He almost screamed in doubt and disbelief. “This cannot be right, not at all.” He put away his wand, so he could rub his eyes. “Maybe if I close the door, and open it again…” Seb thought out loud, as he found himself once more looking at the top room of the North Tower, and a giant spiderweb through the middle of the doorway, which obviously hadn’t been used for a while. “I … I mean if I open it again and it’s still the tower, which is nowhere near the dungeons… we can go throu—gh.. it Hey! How did it.. I mean, I only went up one flight of short stairs.” He turned to look at Sariss, confusion in his eyes. “I’m confused.” He blinked, “And it’s not my usual confusion.”

“I’m confused.” Seb said and sounded like it too. “And it’s not my usual confusion.” Sariss opened her eyes, found that Seb was looking at her and gave a small confused smile. How weird. Every time that she looked at him, her stomach was doing a little flip-flop and she felt all light... She turned her head, looked at the now open door--and jumped back. A spiderweb was covering the entire opening of the doorway... and where there were spiderwebs, the spiders could not be far. She gulped and started to tremble a bit. Childish fear of spiders, really. Only because she'd once opened a cupboard and a spider had jumped out and landed in her face... But she really didn't want to think about that. Her mind barely registered that it was indeed North Tower where the doorway had opened up to, a place as far from the dungeons as could ever be. "Um... hehe..." she laughed uneasily and inched backwards. "Why don't we just shut this door again..." She gave the door a little push (with the very tips of her fingers) and it fell shut. No spiderweb anymore. Ergo: No nasty spiders. She shook her head, finally realising that it had been North Tower. "What the...?" she whispered. "That was North Tower, wasn't it? Or am I seeing things because of the..." She shuddered. "...spiderweb?"
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Oct 5 2003, 12:20 AM
Sariss had jumped back when she had saw the spidersweb across the door, he felt her shudder with fear. A horrid feeling in his stomach told him that he was in fact feeling guilty. She reached forward a little and pushed the door shut. "What the...?" she whispered as she realised what was behind the web, "That was North Tower, wasn't it? Or am I seeing things because of the..." she shuddered once more, "...spiderweb?" “You see correct,” Seb said, nodding as he looked back at the door, “That was the, er North Tower, strangely enough. Sometimes I think that this Castle couldn’t surprise me anymore, and poof! It goes and blows all previous thoughts away. Maybe this is how Flich is always... Well... Everywhere at once?” He asked her, still trying to shake away his new confusion. Seb inhaled as he began to think. “This place is starting to get annoying, right… I’ll open this door again, ok?” He asked her, “And you can put my cloak over yourself. I’ll get the spiderweb out of the way, and you can run through afterwards, once it’s clear. I’m make sure there are no spiders present.” He licked his lips, “Just – this place is colder and damper than the Common Room… as there is no fire obviously. I know it’ll be a long walk back from the Tower.” Seb was rambling, “And… well I’m hungry too.” He walked forwards to the door, letting go of Sari’s hand. “You stand back, and I’ll have a look, ok? And if you don’t want to go through, well, that’s fine. We’ll find another way out.” He reached his hand forward towards the door handle and gave it a push down. As Sariss had opened it earlier, it wasn’t as hard to make move. Seb opened the door; the creak echoing down the corridor behind them.

“You stand back, and I’ll have a look, ok? And if you don’t want to go through, well, that’s fine. We’ll find another way out.” Seb reached towards the door handle. "No... no, it's okay. It's fine. This will be the easiest way to end up in a familiar room and..." She tried to calm herself, tried not to think about the huge spider that must have spun that web, tried not to think about the fact that there were probably more spiders down here in the dungeons... in the dark corners... scuttling about... crawling up the walls and spinning thin threads which would allow them to lower themselves from the ceiling and drop on--- Don't think about that, silly girl. Just let's get out of here. Coward. Really no Gryffindor material you are. "... and it doesn't matter if it's on the other end and at the top of the castle... Everywhere it's nicer than down here. I hate not having a clue where I am. And here I thought I had a sense of directions. Let's get out of here... fast..." Sariss was rambling, and she knew it too. Being lost was terrible--and how embarrassing would it be if they were found by some first-year who miraculously had a better sense of orientation than both Seb and Sariss had? A prefect who got lost in the dungeons. What a laughing stock. They'd probably say that she had better pay attention to where she was going instead of ogling her handsome boyfriend's---uh... not the right time for that, really. Sariss stood back, just like Seb told her to do. She felt somewhat alone now that he had let go of her hand and she couldn't even see him anymore as soon as she closed her eyes. She heard the door creak open. Seb's robes were rustling when he moved, probably... (she shuddered)... when he was brushing the spiderwebs away. Sariss took a deep breath and stepped forward. Time to display that, even though she wasn't brave enough for Gryffindor, she had at least some guts when it came to facing a rather unimportant and childish fear. Slowly, she stepped forward, hoping--no, absolutely trusting--that Seb that he would hold her back if something out of the ordinary (or just an ordinary spider) was there.

He opened the door once Sariss was safe behind him. He couldn’t believe it. Mouth dropping open in shock he walked forward to look through the door. He moved a few times too, just to check from another angle then stepped back again. This Castle was starting to confuse the hell out of Seb. He didn’t understand why or how. Infact he couldn’t even begin to understand. Sariss began to slowly walk forward, her eyes still firmly shut together. Seb reached out his arm, taking a hold of her by her elbow. “Stop – don’t panic!” He had felt her tense up, “No spiders at all. I just need you to look, look and tell me what in the world you see through the door.” Seb once more glared through the door and turned his head slightly, frowning. “Me? I see the entrance hall thingy to our Common Room.” He pondered for a moment to himself. Maybe it was some freaky-deaky alternate universe, and a female version of Seb, and a male version of Sariss would walk through the common room entrance any moment. Seb began to laugh loudly, making Sariss jump. “Sorry… So. What do you think?”

“Me? I see the entrance hall thingy to our Common Room.” Seb frowned at Sariss when she'd opened her eyes after he'd told her that it was all fine and there were no crawly things. Then he began to laugh so abruptly that Sariss was startled by his laughter that was reverberating in the corridor. “Sorry… So. What do you think?” Sariss had glanced through the open doorway for a couple of seconds already and... yes... well, it did really look like the entrance to the Slytherin Common Room. And that was a place that they both knew very well. They knew where it was located and how to reach all other parts of the castle from that point on. The only question that remained was how they'd both ended up in some moving part of the castle, some portal or whatever it was. What would happen if they closed the door again and reopened it? Where would they end up? Sariss looked at Seb. "Well, for all I can say... it looks like the common room entrance," she said slowly. "How odd... Do you think that door shows different locations every time it's opened?" That was a fascinating thought although she really didn't want to find out that it would also allow them to enter the more creepy parts of the castle--like the one they were already in. "Should we go through?" she asked him. "I think it's getting late... Dinnertime and all..."
Posted by: Seb_Darwin Oct 9 2003, 12:53 AM
Even after his little outburst, Seb was still quite dubious of the whole thing. his imagination was quite outrageous at times. This was no exception. It would be a portal from some DE's. It may be an alternate universe. It could be on another planet... or it could be real... "Should we go through?" Sariss then asked, pulling Seb from his thoughts. "I think it's getting late... Dinnertime and all..." Sebs eyes widened. "Yes! It's dinnertime!" That settled it. "I do think we should go through before someone spots us. And I think we should go the normal way, the usual way to the Great Hall. No shortcuts... In fact," He said, as he took hold of her hand carefully, "I think we should never leave each others side. That way at least one of us will know where we are." He walked through the doorway with Sariss, hoping this wasn't some strange portal. "Yay! We're through, things are normal! Woo! Anyway. Food? Yeah? Ok." Pointing to the stairs which lead up to the rest of the school, the two walked off hand in hand, Seb muttering about pineapple all the way.

Seb took hold of Sariss's hand again. Only just now did she notice that her hand was almost icy. That tended to happen when she was nervous. Seb's hand was very warm in comparison to hers. "I think we should never leave each others side," he said, and Sariss would even have agreed whole-heartedly if had said this in the middle of the Great Hall or the Charms classroom. "That way at least one of us will know where we are." Yes, going all logical on me now. I thought that was my department? Sariss thought, slightly bemused. Together, they walked through this probably magical doorway. "Yay! We're through, things are normal! Woo!" Seb cheered and babbled on. "Anyway. Food? Yeah? Ok." He indicated the staircase that would normally take them to the Entrance Hall. Sariss nodded. "Food is always good," she grinned. Miraculously, they found that everything was normal when they arrived in the Entrance Hall. Nothing was mirrored or otherwise out of the ordinary. Seb kept on muttering something about pineapple all the way to the Great Hall. In fact, it was so much that Sariss was extremely hungry by the time they arrived there.
